Cholesterol
I have a buddy that cycles completely wrong, and I've told him over and over he is going to have a heart attack or stroke because of it. But I apparently know nothing compared to this "pro" powerlifter this guy takes his advice from (insert sarcasm). But after trying to talk some sense into him with no luck it has inspired me to get my own blood work done before my next cycle. It's not just test levels that need to be back to normal but cholesterol levels as well. I think many people look past this. Cycling we need to keep our cholesterol in mind because none of us want clogged arteries right?
I'm sure you all already know take you fish oil and all so I'm not going to preach how to reduce cholesterol, but I did find a chart to help you read your cholesterol level on a blood test.
Scroll about halfway down

The same things been worrying me. I'm getting blood tests next week and if I'm high or borderline I'm gonna get some Statins online to get it to the optimal level.
If he won't listen to you or get checked get him some low dose Statins(they're cheap enough) and leave it up to him if he wants to take them or not. Has he had tests before for cholesterol and RBC? It's such a small thing to do to keep an eye on what your heart has to deal with everyday on roids.
Statins are like a last resort bro. What is high anyway? those ranges take into account people all over the spectrum. Don't forget that Cholesterol is what your body uses to make testosterone. (hence why it's higher on cycle cause its not being converted)
And its only hight LDL in relation to HDL that matters. I've got an 80 year old friend whose total was over 700 and he's spry as could be. For him his body runs fine at that level, no blockages nothing.
The latest science is totally contrary to these ranges - eating cholesterol doesn't raise your body's levels, your body makes cholesterol much in the same way your body makes hormones, if it is signaled that you have inflammation or artery damage it produces more because cholesterol as a repair substance. The plaque build up is from repeated repairs to the same artery's. Having high levels with no inflammation or artery damage = no build up.
research yourself things that cause inflammation ie: food enzyme inhibitors, pesticides, meats from animals fed unnatural diets void of CLA and Omega's, etc.... cholesterol is not bad, it is not the problem it is the solution.
Dude I strongly urge you not to self RX a statins
Thanks for your advice. After I get the tests I'll speak with my doc about it and if he doesn't see a need to prescribe me any I won't buy them online.
I have no idea, I'm giving up on trying to get him to be smart about it, I've been on his case for too long. I just posted this because that site makes it easy to read your cholesterol levels if you get a blood test sent off and the results in the mail.
