+ 1 Blood Pressure /Donating

ad

So I've been denied 3x in a row now for donating blood. Either my blood pressure is to high or my pulse rate is to high. I was 156/103 and pulse rate 108 today. They re checked me in 5 min and was still too high. Idk what to do. My hemotacrit is 56. I've tried hydrating, sleeping good, eating healthy meal before donating, no sugar or caffeine or nicotine. Idk what else to do at this point. Any tips or tricks to thin my blood. Or another way to get this blood out of me. I also take Amlodapine prescribed by my doctor. I took a double dose yesterday and this morning before heading to donate and nothing. So frustrating. I also haven't taken any Roids for a week. I was on test/tren/mast. I'd like to at least take my test shot but I'm afraid it will keep me elevated. I plan on trying again this Tuesday or Friday. Here's my current reading.

FireGuy's picture

Here's my current blood pressure. I've been trying to drink a shit ton of water. I posted down below on someone's comment to explain more about me. I have dropped the tren abd mast. I'm prepping my meals now using my fitness pal to track calories.

I was a very heavy drinker for a long time. I've been battling quitting alcohol. I'm currently 30 days sober. I used to drink 3x a week. I was able to get it down to once on the weekend but drank heavy....I'm trying to completely quit. I drank a good portion of my life.

I'm currently 5'8 205 pounds. I'm also taking 4 mg retatrutide a week trying to lose weight. I've went from 233 duwn to 205 in the last idk 4 or 5 months or so. I know I'm not super healthy but I'm working on it. I do not drink a gallon of water a day more like a half gallon. I will up that. I do cardio twice a week. I will do more of that as well. Here's a list of supplements I take.

Fish oil
Baby aspirin
Amlodapine 10mg
Zinc
Pro biotic
Citrus Bergamot
Ashwaganda
Magnesium
Taurine

Some days I skip but trying to get a routine. I've been doing better. My diet not so great. I usually skip breakfast but try to stay in a calorie defecit. I hope this answers everything.

In your all opinion, how high is this BP? Bottom number is high in my opinion but my normal systolic is 145-155/70s. Doctors told me to keep an eye on it but not to he too concerned

Aggieguy's picture

Have you tried taking a cialis and seeing if it drops your BP for that day? The other option is you can buy the blood bags with needle that they use when you donate blood and do it yourself. That is what I did but I also have medical experience in doing this stuff.

If you have BP that high, which it's not really anything extremely high. At least 80% of people on gear that actually run it at a good dose have the same numbers. I would make sure to drink a lot of water and take some organ health supplements. High BP causes the vessels inside your kidneys to rupture and they don't repair themselves when you come off or lower your BP like your liver can. Maybe even come off everything except a cruise dose of test, like 500mg ish and then slowly raise your dose until you get where you want while watching your BP. If it doesn't effect it, then add in one compound and slowly raise it to where you want it while keeping an eye on bp. You'll be able to see what it is that is causing this for you. For me it was Deca. At 600mg test 400mg Deca, my BP was about the same. Stopped the Deca and raised test to 900mg no problems. Added in 600mg EQ still great. Added in like 250tren no problems still. Feel absolutely great! Will not run Deca ever again lol.

You say you tried hydrating and eating good. If you’re on gear this isn’t something you try, you need to be eating well everyday and drinking a lot of water everyday. You didn’t mention anything about cardio. How much if any are you doing? You should be doing some cardio atleast 4-5 times a week if not more regardless, but especially on gear. Has so many benefits for your cardiovascular system. Ideally fasted each morning. Consistency with cardio, proper diet and hydration and you should be in a much better place than this.

You definitely need to stop the cycle like you have and return to just a TRT level test dose at most. I’m talking very low dose if your staying on. Like 75mg a week or so. Some people still deal wi the high hct regardless of test dose so you might need to come off even test for a little while. Until this is under control. But Those numbers are bad. Your hearts basically doing LISS cardio 24/7. Your BP is very high. What was your baseline BP before cycle? I have the same monitor and it seems to be really accurate.

Someone I was talking to recommend a supplement called Hemo flow. They said it brought their Hct down from 54 to 50. It’s pricey, but cost is irrelevant in the situation you’re in. The alternative to not getting this under control asap is potentially very bad.

And a baby aspirin per day can reduce risk of clotting while your hematocrit is high so that’s something to consider.

But donating is just a bandage, a temporary fix. You need a long term solution which is good clean diet, daily cardio, and a gallon of water a day, and probably avoiding compounds that raise your BP so much. Unfortunately it’s hard to avoid compounds that raise hct, as test does this and it can’t really be avoided if you run gear.

And last, you could get an order from your doctor to dump blood since they won’t let you donate. Just tell them you wanted to donate and they wouldn’t let you because your BP was so high. You read high BP could be related to high hct and you had other symptoms so you paid for a blood test which showed your hct at 56.

20ramcummins's picture

Thoughts of running antioxidant supplement to help lower hct? I read it helps and started taking it recently but not long enough to know if it works.

irongame427's picture

Depends on which one. curcumin is an anti oxidant with some evidence that it can prevent excess RBC production. NAC and green tea may offer some benefits as well. And some type of omega 3 supplement like fish oil. Careful with supplements that have lots of iron in them, and B vitamins. B12 and b9 (folic acid) are used by the body to make RBCs.

And stressing about high hemacrit doesn’t help the BP. I was in this exact situation in early July. Was told too high to donate. Got it on 2nd visit but 2nd attempt. They gave me 5 mins in dark room where I did some breathing exercises and got my reading down. And this gonna sound really corny but I swear it helped.. close your eyes while breathing and envision yourself surrounded in aura of a color that calms you. Was a tip someone gave me to calm down before doing public speaking and I think it helped. I saw other say to take baby aspirin. My blood was thick enough that was filling the bag slowly. Phlebotomist straight up told me to take baby aspirin next time to speed up the flow.

Since then I’ve done a bunch of stuff to bring BP back down, and obviously giving up a pint helped. Went from 54 to 51 HC. Things that helped.

Taking cialis
Taking nitric / l-arganine supplement (gorilla mode non stim)
Doing fasted cardio every morning without exception, esp treadmill
Doing wall sits - supposed to really help
Lower BP in near term. Seems to work.

Also, Think Big BB podcast had a tip about lowering hemacrit I hadn’t heard elsewhere. It was 3 things I’ve been following religiously. As said above, 30 mins of vigorous cardio every morning, no red meat and stay ultra hydrated.

Good luck man. Hope you can get resolved soon.

Get some nebivolol too to get the heat rate down. Right now your heart is running overtime just existing that's a recipe for disaster. Start doing more cardio, take magnesium and you may need potassium and at least a gallon of water a day. Don't drink or smoke or anything that can stress the heart. I'd say cut out all the PEDs except maybe TRT.

flounder's picture

Good post for all of us. U need to get that shit taken care of now, cuz you are rapidly wearing out your heart and veins. Not being able to give blood is another symptom and not so much a cause. You state that u ate good for the day of donation and no gear for a week which will in no way help the numbers that day. U have to eat good always and reduce your gear significantly for a month at least. Plus you did not mention body or height. For me, 5’9” @ 205 lbs is the magic number. Anything over 205 and my bp is in the 130s to 140s/70s and below 205lbs I’m at 120s/60s. 5 mg of cialis helps by about 10 points for me when my be is 205 to 210. Drink at least 100oz of pure water/day with a baby aspirin and routine light cardio will help thin the blood but may not reflect in lower numbers (mitigating the damage somewhat). Before I would try self phlabIo I would get serious with my doctor to get a handle on this serious issue! You are now in a transitional period where you should be in it for the long game and not just the biggest guy in the gym for a much shorter time. I’m 70 years old and I have seen to many of my gyms buddies die cuz they didn’t use the biggest muscle (brain sorta). One died of arterial Alzheimer’s cuz high bp, bad veins, cholesterol clogged the blood flow to his brain. His last year was literally horrific …..broke my heart. All (most) these guys ignored their vitals. Sorry for being a Debby downer but u can still be a very big/stong guy in the gym and live to be in your 80s. All the best!

flounder's picture

Oh, btw I do take a low dose prescription bp med and upping that dose one day will have no affect on bp that day or the following day. Your doc may have to try different meds to see which one is effective for you cuz one size does not fit all.

What do you mean legit post. I am very real. I don't smoke weed or do any drugs anymore. Not for years. I was a very heavy drinker for a long time. I've been battling quitting alcohol. I'm currently 30 days sober. I used to drink 3x a week. I was able to get it down to once on the weekend but drank heavy....I'm trying to completely quit. I drank a good portion of my life.

Hydration helped me more than anything... Potassium and magnesium... Cialis helps so does asprin but not as much as electrolytes....drink more water. Donating did nothing for my blood pressure. Stop the tren and mast. Eat light, no red meat.
No caffiene or sugar. More greens my guy.

Drexyl's picture

It’s exactly this. The blood donations are to knock off a couple points, which more often than not isn’t going to make a remarkable difference in overall health. I’m not a physician, but I will say there’s two things to consider here, he needs to get himself right. He included caffeine and nicotine which are going to affect BP negatively, didn’t mention if there’s alcohol or any other recreational drug use. The second thing is although those vitals are bad, they’re by no means dangerous zone, an emergency room would send him home, especially if he told them exactly what he was doing. @FireGuy drop everything except 125mg of test weekly, and cut back on the stimulants, I won’t even say quit, just cut back. Diet is going to be key, eat low salt foods and don’t use any added salt for the next two weeks. Gallon of water a day with potassium and magnesium supplements so it gets absorbed. If you do these few simple things, and really stick to them (I’m talking close to no salt) I’ll bet within 2 weeks time your numbers will be much much better.
Attached is a nighttime pic, 5mg amlodipine, coffee, cigarettes, realistic TRT dosage, no hard drugs and zero alcohol. I do get spikes, but it’s otherwise managed well.

Bigred_152's picture

The real question with BP that low is what do you run? Not knocking you at all man, but without some serious BP meds anyone running over like 1250mg week is gonna have bp higher than that. If you're on low dose stuff, under 1000mg total a week, great for you. And keeping your health in check.

Drexyl's picture

Oh no doubt, this is just 125mg weekly with a good diet. I’ll be 50 this year so hefty cycles are out of the question, but I can run test 500mg with conservative dosages of mast and npp with an oral in the beginning and hover at 130/85, give or take a little either way. It’s about being sensible and responsible.

20ramcummins's picture

How much do you think tren effects resting heart rate? Or more so poor diet?

Drexyl's picture

I’ve personally never ran it, it’s too harsh for my liking. That’s a great question, the thing is they affect the BP in different ways, which is worse than it sounds. Let’s say you have high BP from too much salt, and you add more salt, and your BP goes up as your body retains even more water to dilute the sodium (some people like me are more sensitive than others). Now you add trenbolone, more water retention but you’ve also introduced issues with RBC production and polycythemia, lower nitric oxide, etc, so those vital stats are getting attacked synergistically by multiple devices. Basically you can run tren OR eat baconaters, doing both opens a Pandora’s box of problems.

Mikeyt84LINY's picture

You can take some baby aspirin.
They also sell kits on Amazon to take blood they're for practice but it's the same thing. Just might need someone to poke u

10- 20mg tadalafil (Cialis) per day is great for blood pressure and so is telmisartan - both are safe to run long term.

For the mean time drop to a cruise dose 100-300mg test per week, do daily cardio even if it's just walking to the shop, limit fast food and drink plenty of water and electrolytes for the hematocrit and wait until your blood pressure drops bro - blood pressure is a silent killer it's not worth the risk of elevated blood pressure for long periods

Cialis 5mg daily helps with BP and daily aspirin for blood thickness.

So it could be helpful in a high hematocrit situation but not necessarily in lowering hematocrit? Or is it more helpful in a high platelet count situation? Or both? Or neither?

randomdude's picture

Thanks for your insight. Personally my hematocrit is in range. Actually on the lower side at 38 a month ago. BP is always around or below 120/80. It crept up to 130/90 a few years ago. That’s when I started daily cialis to help with that.

Every now and then my creatine levels are slightly elevated. It’s definitely not consistent. Otherwise they’re usually middle of the range.

Get that shit under control ASAP using meds. Don't fuck around with High BP, at that level you get LVH, artery damage and kidney damage. To me though its fucking stupid they won't let you donate with that high BP, considering it would help... And yeah man if it came down to it DIY blood letting. It sounds sketchy but It can't be that different than pinning gear

thorny's picture

Get yourself some telmisartan (20-40mg) and nebivolol (2.5-5 mg) from any of the sources on these boards, and commit to taking them alongside your cycles. You're running way to high a bp.

OP do this, it’s good advice. I would also add taking baby aspirin, grapefruit seed extract and Nattokinase are all great for lowering hematocrit and reducing risk of clotting
