Blew my back out :-(

ad

I'm glad you guys got to enjoy your 4th of July I spent mine in the E.R. And quite possibly the most painful experience of my life while deadlifting in a buddy's home basement gym I felt the worst pain imagineable in my back and dropped me to the floor I knew something was wrong so he took me up to E.R where I spent six hours getting scans and x rays done and guess what have two ruptured disks L4 and L5 :-( that are going to require surgery will be on bed rest until surgery good thing I have my phone or I will lose it!.....has anyone experienced this how long was recovery and how did doc put it in perspective for you as mine made me very uncomfortable about a full recovery?

I have herniations in my L4 & 5 and know the feeling and it came from deadlifting also. I would try to seek some other alternatives to surgery but Im not a doctor. I get facet injections and radio frequency ablation which is non invasive that helps cope with the pain.

how were they able to tell a rupture from an xray. Do urself a favor and get an mri done, also my biggest help was accupunture and an inversion table

Although chiropractic is great for low back pain and disc bulges/herniations, this case wouldn't benefit but could potentially harm him. If a disc ruptures, the inside becomes free and can travel up or down the spinal canal. Think of the filing of a jelly doughnut being pushed out. If he were to get adjusted, the ruptured portion could dislodge and cause harm elsewhere.

Be carefull bro, your back can poison the rest of your life, this is why now i don't squat, deadlift or overhead press. Since i have been nail to my bed several time, i can still get a great physique and enjoy life.
Wish you a quick recovery

X2. Ruptures require surgery. I ruptured 2 of 'em and have herniated 3 in a bike accident. In terms of pain level, it's a totally different ballgame.

I'm 6 years and 4 surgeries down the line. I don't deadlift, but I can squat. It's a slow process of recovery, but you can work around it.

Most importantly I wish you a speedy recovery. If you need to talk about any specifics etc, drop me a line.
