APO shipping

ad

I am currently not in the United States and looking to place an order but I have an APO AE address, thus requiring a customs form to ship to me. How might one find a company willing to ship here? My usually guy does not
New to the forums so forgive me if this is common knowledge

Thank you guys for the help. I am in Afghan and have dropped from 200 (6 mo after my last cycle) I'm down to 175 in 2 months. Think I'll just wait because the nutrition is just not here. But seriously thank you for the insight

Thanks for your service.
Don't let the scale fuck with your head. I know some pretty damn strong guys in the 170's.
I know where efficiency is concerned, I was a lot faster and had more stamina before all the bulk. I'd wager you're pretty lean running around in the desert. Stay strong and stay safe man. Plenty of time for everything else later.

Don't do that. It goes through customs then it goes on base to the post office. They search a lot of packages there. You need an off base address.

First off, risk v reward. Even if you get it on base, getting caught has serious consequences.

That said, your only option is to get a private box off base with an address the shipper is willing to deliver to.

Message your source to let them know you need your package shipped via regular mail. No DHL, FedEx, UPS etc. Also, plan for your package to take a few weeks longer to arrive.

APO (Army/Air Post Office)
USPS hands off mail to the Military Postal Service Agency and they forward that on to wherever the serviceman is stationed. Unlike the USPS, you can bet that all MPSA packages are being screened. Most shippers (DHL etc.) do not ship to PO boxes and that would apply here.

If you reside in the U.S. then it would be smart just to get a PO box. Obtaining a PO box in a foreign country is a little more difficult to come by. International packages to APO boxes outside the U.S. generally go through a 3 step screening process. First is customs of the destination country, where only a percentage of packages are x-rayed. Then APO packages are sent to central distribution centers, and then more customs officers screen the packages. The risk is low compared to the multitude of other item that get seized. Hell, you can pend UCMJ action for receiving porn in the mail.

We're all adults and make our own choices, some not so bright. When I was stationed in Germany, I had some of my Amazon orders seized because the items weren't allowed to be sent via post in Germany. They were just my protein and vitamin supps that GNC didn't carry.

He is not in the US
He has not said where he's at. For all we know, he's living in a tent and there is no off base option.
Added terror risks increase screening, added screening increases risk. After customs, things are not getting on a military base without being checked.

It's not just gear it's also syringes etc. which can be a problem in a foreign land.

Getting a PO box in the US is difficult if you don't have a physical street address and proof of residency. I imagine overseas where there is an option would have the same problems.

I'm not suggesting an off base PO box. I stated a private box off base with an address the shipper is willing to deliver to. He'll need to find a company like the UPS store or Mail boxes etc. and rent a box there. His address would appear like a street address with an apartment number.

I'm sorry your porn got seized ;-)

You put quite a lot of faith in the customs process and packages getting on base. It's quite easy to get gear and accessories on base past customs. If guy is in the sandbox then he should have got it beforehand and threw it in his duffle. Dude asked a question and I gave an answer that works instead of telling him it's not worth the risk.

Who still orders porn on dvd anyways???

Greg's picture

First off I recommended caution. Then gave him a suggestion.
Second, your answer might work IF it gets shipped regular post from whatever country it's originating from.
Third, getting a private address is far less risky than trying to bring the product onto a military base.

You're much too cavalier about the prospects. percentage wise, he has a far greater chance getting caught at that time than when going through customs. If the package is coming out of China, or Moldova you can bet it will be looked at. Is he living in the barracks? what happens when he's at work and they randomly bring the drug dogs through and hit on his doorknob because a friend or roommate who had smoked some weed touched it?

You brought up the porn... it was sarcasm.

izzy1222's picture

Now you're just going down the rabbit hole with what ifs. Yes, I am a little cavalier about it, in the past 10 years I've not heard of anyone being hemmed up for getting gear in the mail and lets be honest, the rumor mill runs rampant on deployments so if someone was to get caught the story would probably read "Soldier on steroids, overdoses in the DFAC," when in reality someone got caught with some vial in their room. This isn't to say that no one has ever been caught... its probably happened but more than likely from them not keeping their mouth shut or not securing their shit. People are more worried about coming home with gear and going through customs at the airport. A lot of guys off load their extra shit before coming home.

BTW, thanks for being able to have a debate like an adult and I caught the sarcasm, I just don't have... or see the option to italicize.
