-1 Aas and mental disorders
Hi, I want to talk about a topic that isn't clear on the Internet and also some endocrinologist don't know anything about it.
You could write your experience with aas and mental disorders.
Aas and anti depression drugs or drugs to treat anxiety. Androgenic activities of aas are related to well being feelings but it could also increase some bad quality of our behavior. I'm taking dbol, proviron, an snri and another drug to treat anxiety. I have decreased the snri of a 50% gradually to avoid heavy shift of mood when I'll finish this light cycle. I've had some day (2-3) where my mood was very low, now I've upped dbol and proviron to 30 and 150 mg and I'm feeling good. When I'll finish my cycle I'll restore the previous dosage of the snri and I'll write a log about it in pct.
Let me know if you have had similar experience

I suffer from some very serious mental disorders and issues. Not gonna go down the list, but I take alot of meds including SNRIs in massive doses. I have to see my looney doc every 1 to 3 months. Before I ever pinned the first time, I research any known reactions between any AAS I was considering and each of the meds I take. I never adjusted my meds dosages as I would have felt the withdrawals even from a minor pullback on dosage.
And one of the first things I did...I TOLD MY LOONEY DOC. He is bound by confidentiality and thus can't ay anything. His reaction was to be expected. He said he couldn't condone it, but helped me to understand any possible reaction to my current meds...which there are none. He also ordered blood work for me. He doesn't like it, but he knows I'm gonna do what I want and so he helps me with my research.
Dude, listen to everyone here. And tell your doctor. Don't go randomly adjusting your med dosage based on what you think is happening in your body. Tell your doctor!
BarneyFifeI see someone once a month myself. Only on Remeron at the present time. Having said that theres probably not one sane guy on this board. Remove yourself and think about it. We live on restricted diets, train on holidays, fill our bodys full of hormones year after year. Other than a few competitive guys on here the rest of us are gym rats. I saw Dave Draper on a Monkeys rerun when I was a kid in the late 70s. Ive been chaseing that ever since. I'm a good size guy but I'm not Dave Draper. All these years later I'm still grinding. Its a sickness. Your normal well tempered person would have quit years ago. I love bodybuildimg but I realized this years ago. Nobodys perfect. Accept yourself and move on. People don't change. You cant put this stuff out and continue until someone tells you what you want to hear. You already know the answers.
Update: I've upped dbol to 40 mg, while proviron remained the same, in the last week of cycle. Maybe that dbol was underdosed but I haven't had so much bloat...but I was feeling hot everywhere...even outside sometimes...now I ve started my pct with clomid and I m upping my snri...my mood is responding not so bad until now...I m planning to take nolva when it arrives
Getting bloat from dianabol is dose dependent and As long as you are drinking enough water and your sodium intake isn't really high and you are using proper ancillaries (such as arimidex, proviron, aromasin etc) to go along with your testosterone dose, then it's likely the bloat won't be there or at least not problematic. Estrogen has more to do with this.
This is why we tried to warn you not to mess with your snri dosage. It could also be you are running a dbol only cycle and using proviron to control the estrogen which proviron isn't enough for some people. This could also be because you shutdown your natural testosterone levels by taking dbol and proviron. You disrupted your hormonal balance in your brain and body by running this improper "cycle" that wasn't very well planned out.
you started your cycle before your PCT arrived. another sign that you were not prepared and did not plan this out properly.
I hope you read everyone's responses and try to listen to what people are saying. No one here wants to be an ass to you, but you need to understand the importance of properly running a steroid cycle. Taking powerful anabolics can cause a huge change in your body both physically and mentally, but much of this can be controlled by running the cycle PROPERLY. which you did not.
Hope your PCT goes well and your body can go back to normal after this whole thing. Also just wanted to mention, if your goal in this cycle was the positive mental effects some steroids can have on mood, maybe you have low testosterone naturally. Don't know your age but if that is the reason you ran this cycle, you might want to get bloodwork done to see if your testosterone levels are normal. However I'd wait a few months after your PCT because it's likely to be completely shut down from this cycle you ran and it's going to take time for your body to recover.
If anything your hormone imbalance will most likely cause your anxiety to sky rocket. Most likely when you come off of these orals life will suck depression will set in and you will wish you would have listened. If you say fuck it and stay on well you can kiss your liver good bye... You feeling hot everywhere is most likely your blood pressure being elevated...
Please. As someone on massive psychotropic meds to another, I'm all but begging you to talk to your doctor. Tell your doctor what you are doing. It's your well being and the happiness of those around you that you are toying with.
BarneyFifeGreat advice.
You ask for advice then you go and just medicate yourself and play the guessing game with meds and gear mix.......
You're asking for shit storm on your body bro........
And for what reason........
2x zeb. That combo of mental meds is a bad thing. I ran Tren e with inderal and ended up really bad. Couldn't get my mind right, screwed up cycle, stayed highly aggressive and the depression almost took me out....
Be careful
In general most psych meds shouldn't interact negatively with anabolic steroids. Though there are some exceptions.
Most of the "mental" negative effects of anabolic steroids have to do with improper ancillary usage(or lack of it).
From the sounds of your tren cycle I'd be willing to bet you didn't balance your estrogen and prolactin properly by running correct dosage of Dostinex/Pramipexole/Bromo. Your estrogen levels most likely weren't in line either since high estrogen and tren combination alone can cause many unpleasant psychological side effects.
Proper ancillary usage and estrogen control is ESSENTIAL in every cycle. Especially in a tren cycle. It is important to note that whenever running a progestin (tren) in your cycle, it could have a different effect on your estrogen levels than a normal test only cycle would. So the balance of dostinex and arimidex and test and tren dosage completely determines how it will affect you mentally. Judging by your reaction it sounds like your estrogen and prolactin were not balanced when you ran tren. Also some guys need to run lower dosages of testosterone when taking tren to prevent the aggressive side effects. That works too
Reactions between AAS and psychotropic meds is something I have studied in depth along with help from my doctor. You are correct that any interactions are rare to nonexistent. The issue most have are caused by hormone imbalances. A condition that most on such meds aren't ready to deal with properly due to already having issues dealing with what would be called normal life.
Smfh Bro... This entire thing is stupid. You should stop adjusting your own meds and talk with your damn doctor.
-1 from me.
That is good advice, but then he would have to tell doc he is on aas to.......
Then what you think doc will say........
He will say what the guy doesn't want to hear like all of us are telling him and he still does what he wants.....
I was lucky and my doctor didn't come down on me too hard. He helped me to research any reactions and thankfully there are none. His words were he can't condone AAS usage, but he knows I'm gonna do what I want. So he helps me to understand and stay out of a bind such as possible downsides to any certain AAS. He should tell his doctor for sure. It will prolly go much better than he thinks.
Man my situation is very similar to yours but it is maybe more complicated and I don't want to share this things on the internet. Therefore I'm happy to hear your story
I'm happy to share. I know such things aren't easy to discuss and we are all afraid of being judged. You'll get no judgement from me, only what little help I might can give.
You know your situation and your doctor better than anyone so only you know how to approach the subject with your doctor. If at all possible, please talk to your doctor before making any more adjustments. Any help I can give I'm more than happy to do so.
My karma is fucked
you reap what you sow.
I haven't done nothing bad to anyone and I could do what I want to my body, there's no reason to put down the karma of a person that you do not know...
Nobody said or saying you are. But just listen to what you're saying... You think that is good advice for anyone....
You have posted this in this forum section and you should take the good with the bad bro.
Sometimes we hear what we don't like and I think that is your case...
Why not try to live a good healthy life and try not to harm yourself bro, there are plenty of things out there that can hurt you or harm bedside yourself....
What are you trying to accomplish by running g aas anyway and taking these meds you speak of....
What is the purpose really....
I wanted to be alot of things in my life until reality slapped me in the face.....
Be healthy bro. No one is here to try to arm or hurt anyone....
I'm out....
True, but you also don't understand the nature of this site. We don't want others mimicking you, and we don't want you to harm yourself.
We know that in this case you are head strong and obstinate. Since we can't reach through the monitor and bitch slap some common sense into you, handing out negative karma to show our disdain for your actions is the next best thing. And, hopefully, will dissuade others from taking any advise from someone who shows such a poor lack of judgment.
Smh, seems his mind was and has been made up before he posted this......
as far as i remember proviron long time ago was used also as a some kind of antidepresant, but only for guys. I know one person whos taking ED one tab of proviron, when i asked him for what he told me " without it i would killed myself long time ago " so it works not only for You Brock
IMO its a good idea what you did but 150 mg of proviron its a lil to much i think, and about anxiety take a lot of magnesium few times ED it would really help You after few weeks.
I'm 100% disabled through the eye of our great Va (ptsd).. Steroids do have an impact on me physiologically at times.. I do not take any prescribed medications... At one point I was on 5 different things but yea that didn't go so well... I don't think you can honestly be in any right mind taking medication and taking anabolics... The gym is my therapy with out it I would fall in a deep hole of depression...
BarneyFifeIf you really feel your having issues or mood swings you should either cut back or just quit using them. At your age I'm certain you can get bigger than what you are now without them. It will just take longer. No disrespect but I know that's good advice.
I'm fine now brother! This was 5 years ago when I first got out... I've learned how to cope with everything... Everyonce in a while I'll have a small episode. Nothing crazy though.. My life is great I can't complain how things are going... If you notice everything was in past tense I think...
Joy to my ears, brother. Too many, as you said, never learn to cope. I still have the nightmares daily and the occasional episode, but it's getting better. If you ever need an ear to vent to, just shoot me a PM.
BarneyFifeI'm glad to hear that and I appreciate your service. Your best years are ahead.
Bulkdaddy, it's good to hear you've been able to cope with ptsd. There are far too many men who haven't. One day at a time brother, one day at a time.
BarneyFife, I second your comment.
Yes I know a few that has not been able to cope with it and there no longer with us... A few good friends of mine!
That sucks, brother. Straight up sucks.
BarneyFifeTheres good days and bad days whether you use steroids or not. I think when you first start using its very easy to blame things on the drugs. I do believe there are certain people that should never use just like some guys shouldn't drink. Your average well tempered person should have no problem on moderate doses. If your already on mood enhanceing drugs odds are there was already a problem.
So what's your goals and what you looking for in return of those compounds you're running....
Why dbol and Provi........ Where did that come from....
Might not be a good mix of those compoubds and anxiety meds to, could get real nasty who is to tell how and what you will feel. Some compounds I have run in the past screwed with my head hard and I knew that going in just didn't know how hard until they kicked full blown. Other words you better be careful mixing aas with meds especially anxiety meds.....
Lot of good comments and member's below you might want to take a seat and listen bro....
Just my 2 cents.
Read this awhile back kinda shed some light on the issue...
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/09/060912231707.htm
Why does this have anything to do with what the OP is talking about?
Because studies show that a.a.s. is known to reverse the PTSD..... Does it? Don't know I'm not a doctor. And if you read back40 reply you'll see I'm not the only one that posted similar.
Thanx for your reply...
i have ptsd too. Just like mwagener and agree with everthing he said. The question is... Is the mood imbalance the result of steriod misuse or a brain chemical imbalance. Why put yourself on permanant trt if your test isnt low? Why take dbol and try to increase free test with prov when your suppresing androgynous t with the dbol to begin with?
If you think its the right thing to do... go for it.
Run a standard trt/cruise with test, drop the dbol and get an ai.
Get bloods
Imo, create a healthy milue together with behavioral activation therapy. Skip a life of trt.
I am on the fence on this issue. my experience and personal reasons i believe cloud my judgement on this very topic. I had PTSD (combat related) a brain and spinal injury. I was on med after med for mental health issues. after multiple surgeries, finally getting back in the gym and going back on cycle after years aways, i can say i felt better than i ever had on any psych meds. I am currently on medically prescribed TRT. for me it was a life changer for my mental health status and regaining a normal life. I do know now that coming off is NOT an option because of the potential negative impact to my body, health and the increased risk of more serious mental health issues. I dont think this should be taken lightly or be done to self medicate.especially without the guidance of a well informed endocrinologist. I had a legitimate hormonal reason to become TRT, the benefits were just a plus.
i believe i read an artical saying that test c was once used as an anti depressant but the research indicated that there was significant down regulation to dopamine receptors which actually increased symptoms when treatment ended.
Gear isnt the solution. Maybe a brief respite, but the cause will still be there when the hormone is gone. Treat the cause not the symptom.
Testrogen_PropC...This is an extrememly bad idea. Taking testosterone when dealing with low testosterone induced depression is one thing. But running fucking dbol and proviron as anti depressants is just straight up dumb.
That's like taking adrenaline for a toothache....does not compute. Not even in the slightest.
A vitamin B12 shot can make you feel energetic and motivated only if your B12 levels are low. If you have normal or high B12 levels, you will feel nothing from the shot.
SNRI's need to be taken at a fixed dosage and it supplements what your body can't do on its own. Any euphoric "feel good" side becomes "Normal feel good" in time. It takes several weeks for your SNRI to build the levels they need to be at. by cutting back 50% you'll need time to get back to where you were. And guess what. That will be the same time you're taking clomed to try and get your test levels back up to where they were. So if you thought you had it tough before. Now you'll have a 2 pronged attack on your mood.
People with liver and high blood pressure should be careful when taking SNRI's --guess what oral AAS use has as it's number one and two sides.
When taking AAS the "feel good" comes from the increased test levels. Like the b12 and SNRI's it goes away as your new level becomes the norm. Then you need more, and with it you get more sides.
You can't stay on that cycle for very long. So for those four stupid weeks, you'll need probably eight to twelve to recover. and there will be a low point where you'll feel like shit and need to plug on through. You can't just pop a dbol and/or proviron and expect to get your test and E2 levels back to normal.
I'm only going to caution you once about your attitude.
Your true identity is hidden there is no reason you can't provide better information.
You're looking for someone to sign off on your situation, or empathise with you. Doubt if your going to get it.
What you did get, is honest concern spearheaded by MedDx Take the advice, or don't take it.
That said, being belligerent and stubborn in your position without explanation is your quickest way out of here.
2x
Thank you, Greg.
Forgive me if I'm not prone to give information about myself on the Internet but I've had some bad experiences
Why you decide reducing your SNRI was a good idea and what SNRI it is you are using is not giving out any info worth hiding.
Your understanding of AAS use is nil. Answering Why you are doing what you're doing and how you came to believe it was a good idea is also not worth hiding.
I was only looking for someone with similar experience... That's all, I'm not searching something else. I'm not a newbie in drugs and ssri-snri, I'm not a kid and I'm not stupid, I don't know everything, I'm not a med and I don't pretend to be a med but I've done several researches , now I'll post some log in pct, when the situation will be more complicated.
It's already complicated, pointless, and dangerous. You need to stop what you're doing now.
This is a HORRIBLE idea. Steroids are not a replacement for antidepressants.
I really hope you are not taking AAS just for the "feeling of well-being" and such. I hope you are not taking steroids strictly for the psychological effects. Either way it's good you posted here. I don't know what cycle you are on or your cycle history, there's plenty of experienced steroid users here who can give you advice on that. But all I'm trying to say is be careful when getting off of antidepressants (if that is your plan). Focus on having a well thought out plan to deal with your antidepressants and whether you decide to come off them or not. Make sure your doctor is aware and if you plan to come off take your time. One of the biggest problems with coming off anti depressants (or lowing dosage too quickly) is dealing with the emotional roller coaster, or depressive episodes, panic attacks etc while trying to taper too fast. Please put some serious thought into what you are doing and take your time. There is no rush, antidepressants literally change the chemistry in your brain. Taking them daily your body gets used to the effects of the antidepressant. If you cut it off too quickly or cold turkey, you could literally shock your brain and many serious side effects could happen. It's completely unnecessary to put yourself through that. Again I don't know your cycle experience, what drugs you are on and how long you have been on them. What I am saying is whatever you do, make sure you plan a smart gradual decrease in dosage over a long period of time if you decide to taper off. Don't try to manipulate yourself into thinking steroids will make you feel good while coming off antidepressants. Whether you are on AAS or not, coming off antidepressants is a very serious decision and should be planned and followed through very very cautiously. Talk to your doctor and please take your time whatever you do.
I'd also make sure you post all your reasons behind your cycle, what you are running and seek advice here from the many helpful and experienced users on this website. We are here to help you. Bottom line, I genuinely think you should focus on one thing at a time and think this through long and hard. I worked in a pharmacy for many years and been in retirement homes, mental care facilities and other medical related places that have people on all types of medications. Anti depressants are very powerful drugs that completely alter your chemistry. They must be respected and used or discontinued properly to prevent serious complications. (same can be said about AAS as well)
One other thing. If you plan on staying on the SNRI, why would you even decrease the dosage in the first place? Taking AAS does not mean you can just lower your dosage of your antidepressants. That makes absolutely no sense and I honestly think you are making a very poor decision if this is what you are doing. You need to reevaluate what exactly you are trying to do and think long and hard to yourself why you think it is okay to toy around with the dosage of your antidepressants. It doesn't matter if you are on steroids or not. Lowering your antidepressant dosage just because you are on steroids is extremely ignorant and I mean no offense by this but this deeply troubles me you decided to do this and think it's okay. Please be careful I say this because I worry not trying to be rude but you cannot mess around with dosages like that.
My snri dose has been changed a lot by my med in these months, I know a lot about these drugs by personal experience. Now with my actual dose I'm feeling normal with no sides from the change (and I've experienced the sides so I know what I'm talking about). Two weeks from now I'll start my pct and I'll take back the previous dose of snri. With my med the things are very complicated and you all know that no med will prescribe any aas if it's not a trt.
Steroids have nothing to do with your prescriptions your med doctor prescribed you. Whether you are on steroids or not stay on your PRESCRIBED dosage of your snri
