+ 1 Why we don’t use ‘pre-workout’ products when gaining weight

ad

I wanted to touch on this topic as (just this season) 3 of my clients, all in gaining phases, asked me what type of ‘pre-workout’ formula I used/which should they pick up.
(I get this with nearly 100% of the people i work with and I understand why)...you take it, get jacked up mentally, maybe get a 20% boost in strength/endurance/neural capacity and think oh shit this is relevant to my gains...BUT...you’re killing your gains. Let’s review why.

What variables make us grow?
-Food
-Rest/sleep
-Training
-Hormones

What is the best case scenario for maximum growth? Can we agree that a newborn baby grows well? They grow like crazy off of just food and sleep around the clock, no training/PED’s/pre workouts. What about babies addicted to stims due Mother’s that used stims? Smaller 100% of the time. Would you give a baby stims to help it grow? Hell no! Why? Bc it needs food and rest to gain. Period!

What do stimulants such as caffeine/ephedrine/dmaa or even stronger ones such as amph’s do to the body?

-jack us up mentally...an acute effect that is perceived to be beneficial...BUT...they also do the following (that are terrible for gaining)!!

-disturb our sleep, no matter how restful you feel your sleep is, i guarantee it is deeper without any uppers in the system.
-vasoconstriction, you might feel a pump off of these products, but stimulants, in general cut off blood flow which we want to keep our muscles fed.
-appetite suppressant-stims will mess with your appetite 100% of the time.
-wreck your hormone profile. When we train/eat/sleep we create the perfect ecosystem for growing. When any of those variables are compromised, our hormones will not be optimal.

If you want to grow, save the stimulant loaded pre-workout formula...might not be quite as strong in the gym, but who gives a shit? If the goal is sheer muscle gains (not just being a ‘weight-lifter’) you’re far better off without using pre-workout formulas containing stims.

Happy growing...

I am an avid user of DMAA. I get no jitters, I have strong concentration, and no crash. With DMAA people don't realize its like aas, you have to cycle it as it becomes saturated in your system and causes a buildup. 3 weeks on 2 weeks off. I use a PWO that has over 125mg of it; the strongest you can buy. Unfortunately the FDA has banned it now so I have to buy a ton of it before it gets pulled.
DMAA does not cause me to have no appetite, it does not cause my sleep to be disturbed. What I see is most pwo's are a caffeine anhydrous bonanza with so much of it you crash within 10 minutes of coming home from the gym. PWO's have their place, just most people either buy the wrong thing, or abuse it, just like all the crossfitters who swear up and down that they have to have BCAA's all day long every day of their lives.

DMAA also has a nutrient partitioning effect much like clen.I havn't tried dust but love mesomorph and Stim lord.DMAA plus citrulline actually does help build muscle, and certainly increases pump!I can see the OP's point on sleep but my workouts are at five in the a.m.

Blackstone Labs. They also sell it in cap form and I looked at the label of the Dust, its only 75mg.
The cap form is 45mg and I take 2 preworkout. I am an adrenaline junkie and drink about 2 pots of coffee a day so my tolerance is high. The caps are called King Cobra. I love it. Make sure you cycle it 3 weeks on and 1-2 weeks off or it loses its potency.

If I use anything it’s just a black cup of coffee

I've never really noticed strength gains off if a preworkout. Pump yes. Focus yes. Jitters yes. I read an article about how pw's are kind of a kitchen sink type deal where producers just add anything and everything and hope for the best. They are not regulated by the FDA and there is no telling what is really going in there or how much. I switched to coffee a long time ago. Dies exactly what I need without the negatives. A little focus, a little caffeine boost. Since then I've L- Arganine and L- Carnitine. Inzer turned me on to the Araganine a while back. It is GREAT for pumps and also a host of other positives including heart health. Carnitine taken pre workout kicks up the metabolism and helps and in fat loss and Cellular growth. This is what I stick to daily and I don't get any negative sides. Good write up, I think preworkouts are the crack rock of gym rats! I used to be hooked! Haha!

Nice brother; similar for me...on occasion I’ll get a $10 product from Walmart called NO-fury. It’s got citrulline and arginine, no stims, and makes for a sick pump. Like you said good for the heart!
