Pressure cook at 15 psi for 30 minutes. In order to sterilize you have to hold the temperature at 270 degrees for 30 minutes. You can’t completely sterilize just boiling water. Look up sterilizing with a pressure cooker on your browser. They have presto pressure cookers very cheap on amazon. With my old hobby I had to sterilize things all of the time with a pressure cooker. Further if you are pressure cooking something with a top too tight it will crack and pop. I have exploded mason jars before from putting tops on too tight. A pressure cooker works just like an autoclave.
Yeah I have done that too. But for that I didn’t use canning mason jars I used filter bags. Now I have three kids and one on the way so that’s over for me. Haven’t done that in years. I will can my own food again though as soon as I buy my house next year.
I used to like that hobby as well. Same here though, done with it and haven't done it in years. But yeah, the filter bags made the whole thing so much easier and better right? A complete idiot can do it now! But like almost 25 years ago you didn't have many options.
You made me think. 25 years ago I just started following the Grateful Dead. Best times of my life. And yeah the filter bags made it easier. Mason jars contaminated a lot.
What can I say I like to grow and can my own food. I’m a country boy. There is nothing better than a good cooked meal. I’ll take canned stew to work anyway over frozen pizza or fast food. I even take the whole crock pot to work sometimes and share it. If you worked where I do you would be welcome to it.
For the record, I wouldn't advise sterilizing vials when you can cheaply buy new ones, buy here's an easy basic step by step process to sterilize any glass items.
Sterilizing Empty Glass Vials;
This is as simple as I can make it.
Step 1: Get a big enough pot to hold the vials you're going to sterilize. Fill it with water and bring to a boil.
Step 2: Gently, put your vials into the boiling water, and let them sit for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Be sure to have a sterile area where you can put the vials to air dry without any kind of breeze. Also, you're gonna need a set of tongs or something similar to pull the vials out of the boiling water. Both your tongs or whatever you're using, and your drying area must be cleaned with rubbing alcohol, (Preferably 91%) to sterilize them.
Step 4: After 5 minutes, take the vials out of the boiling water with your sterilized tongs(Or whatever you're using) and place them on your sterile area to dry. Let the vials fully air dry without wiping them, and your finished.
See, right there you've shown you were correct in asking for sterilization help.
You can't get sterilized by cutting your throat. IMHO, contrary to KMC's suggestion, I'd suggest using garden shears. As to where to use them, RESEARCH!
Still, I'll give you a hint. It's above the knees and below the waist.
Rubber stoppers n glass vials GIZMO ...but what I did I boil the water than place vials n rubber stoppers @ 10 minutes than also microwave it for 2 minutes than air dry but blow dry them with a blow dryer with low temp ..what do u guys think? Give me sum feedback
I would not use a blowdryer. It'll just spread dust, dander, and other particles. Microwave is probably a waste of time. I'd follow the same sterilization process they use for canning.
Bring a pan of water to a rolling boil. Place the glass vials and stoppers into the water and boil for 10 minutes.
Remove from water, shake out excess water in the vial, place the vials standing up on a clean towel to air dry.
Place the stoppers in vials when cool and dry.
Yea thats what I did Greg l let them air dry i did use the blow dryer at last time but i was in a sanitize room .but the microwave really dont hurt any from other people opinion so really not sweating that ...but thanks for ur feedback might just go with autoclave

Alphamale500Just curious, did your old hobby have anything to do with malt agar or spores??
Yeah I have done that too. But for that I didn’t use canning mason jars I used filter bags. Now I have three kids and one on the way so that’s over for me. Haven’t done that in years. I will can my own food again though as soon as I buy my house next year.

So, when are you going to send me some of your canned beef stew Martha?

If it wasn't against the rules I'd trade my home grown and canned jalapeno mint jelly, blueberry pie filling, or strawberry jam (savory or sweet).
How about trading recipes. I have a chicken dumpling soup recipe for that blueberry pie recipe
The canned jalapeno mint jelly sounds awesome!
For that I’d throw on elk steaks and jerky.

If you can get your hands on some Cobalt-60, that would be the best way.
everyone is doing it.
The best way is to buy Sterile vials! they are cheap and lots of em around!
Alphamale500I second that! Sterile vials are cheap enough to just but them like that in the first place!
That's what I was thinking.
Have you tried a sharp knife and being really stoned????
You would be doing us a favor.
Lmfao...
Have u slice ur throat already?..;)

I sense a ban coming now
Shoot it!
Sounds like someone could be having an attempt at brewing.
Exactly brother!

Weirdo ! Lol
Weirdo? A sophomoric response, are you sure you're not 24 snowflake?
Alcohol pads
Wait. What do you mean. Like the tops. Or glass bottles to add stuff to
If that’s the case an autoclave
Walmart has a steamer

Yup. That is the best bet
Ha. Yup. No blow dryer. Might as well blow on them if that’s the case.
