Looking for input on a difference in testosterone bloodwork

ad

I'm on a testosterone only cycle and had two LC/MS blood tests that showed a fairly large difference in testosterone levels despite keeping the same dose. Testosterone is from a highly reputable vendor that most of you probably have heard of. Both are from the same batch.

Protocol:
Testosterone cypionate: 500 mg/week
250 mg Monday morning
250 mg Thursday morning

Previous labs:
Blood drawn Thursday morning (~8:30 AM) before my Thursday injection (~72 hours after my Monday injection)
Total Testosterone: 2625 ng/dL
Free Testosterone: 832.4 pg/mL

Current labs:
Blood drawn Monday morning (~8:20 AM) before my Monday injection (~96 hours after my Thursday injection)
Total Testosterone: 1707 ng/dL
Free Testosterone: 614.9 pg/mL

No missed injections or dose changes between tests.

My question is:
Would the extra 24 hours between the last injection and the blood draw (3 days vs. 4 days) reasonably explain a drop from 2625 → 1707 ng/dL and free testosterone from 832 → 615 pg/mL, or would you expect those numbers to be closer together?

Has anyone experienced similar variability on a stable twice-weekly injection schedule?

I had the same thing happen. On 250mg of test c a week. Doing twice a week injections. My rythm labs had been showing over 1500 on my total test the previous two draws. Latest one I did an extra day after my injection. Injected Thurs, did draw Monday morning, and my total T was only 1000. My SHBG is single digits. Needless to say I increased my injection schedule to 3x a week.

Batch numbers have been shown to to pretty irrelevant across the board. With some variation in the vials everything looks normal. Do you know your SHBG. That will give you an idea of how fast you chew through Test. Those of us with single digit SHBG can usually assume we are metabolizing Test C in 4-5 days instead of the 6-7.

But, you really should pin more often at those levels. You're inviting more swings.

My SHBG is 16 nmol/L.

I was considering pinning M/W/F. Maybe its time to make the switch.

You could look this up, brother. Cypionate has been studied to death. Serum levels generally peak around 72 hours after an IM injection, give or take depending on the individual. Your first lab was drawn right around that window. The second was another full day later, after levels had already started coming down.

That’s why I don’t think this is a meaningful comparison. You’re looking at two different points on the curve, not two equivalent troughs. The fact that both total and free testosterone fell by a similar proportion actually makes the results look pretty consistent to me.

If you’re trying to judge the gear, I’d repeat the labs at the exact same point in the injection schedule. Otherwise, I’d be hesitant to draw any conclusions from these numbers alone.

Thanks for the feedback. I should have added I did research this prior to posting and I do understand that it will be lower pushing it 1 more day but from what I read, it shouldn't have made that much of difference to drop 35%.

Ill test again in 6 weeks and this time make sure its timed correctly.

MWF or EOD might work better with an SHBG of 16. Mine is usually around 4-6, so I pin every day. When I was injecting twice a week, I could definitely feel the fluctuations.

I never noticed much on injection day. Days two and three afterward were when I felt my best. By day four, my next injection day, I could feel a noticeable drop in mood, motivation, and overall drive. At the time I was pinning Monday morning and Thursday evening, so it was every 3.5 days.

You might benefit from increasing your injection frequency and seeing if it smooths things out.
