A Kilogram is the recognised Unit measuring weight in All Powerlifting competitions - Even the USA!!! Lol

Greg's picture

Still, not by us 'merican's.

...FYI, it's called soccer ⚽️

press1's picture

Nah, you are thinking of 'American Football'

Greg's picture

Actually, the word 'soccer' is an Oxford English invention from the 19th century. You guys invented the word, used it for decades, and then got mad when we kept using it.

press1's picture

In all honesty, I can't stand English Football!!! Never liked the game - which over here is unheard of as 99.9% of males are obsessed with it. You have half our country over there currently watching it LOL People are throwing 1am parties here to watch it our time so tonnes of people will be skiving work tomorrow.

Greg's picture

You must be thinking of soccer
...a slang that originated in 1880s England as to differentiate "association football" from "rugby football." Students shortened "association" to "assoc" and added the popular "-er" suffix, creating the word soccer.

the word soccer was used regularly by normal British citizens, journalists, and sports commentators all the way up until the 1980s.

I was there. We started playing in the USA and you guys pouted and took your ball home.

Its Sunday today Bro so I had Toad in the Hole covered in gravy.

Greg's picture

And this is why you'll never see British cuisine outside of a pub. ...Or see a three-star Michelin inspector riding into town for a dish named after a swamp toad.

press1's picture

So ChatGPT is correct - You guys are disgusted with a dish called 'Toad in the Hole' LMAO

Its really tasty if you like sausages ...... Chicken in a Yorkshire pudding is much nicer though with Roast potatoes, carrots, peas etc

Codeman253's picture

I would destroy that, looks delicious

Food is clearly more utilitarian in Britain.

Looks like 4 dicks aiming for @Milfpounder 's shiny backside.

Greg - I imagine if you flew over to London and spent 2 weeks there seeing all the Museums, Buckingham Palace, The House of Commons and other well known landmarks you would absolutely love it. Go to Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant in Bishopsgate etc I bet you would never say another bad word about the UK Lol

Greg's picture

I actually do love Britain and have been there so often that I feel comfortable to go into London and get some fish and chips or bangers and mash at a pub and/or hang out in the park for a bit on a 3 hour layover.

Mind the gap is seared into my brain

Milfpounder's picture

Bucket list of mine is to visit over yonder

press1's picture

Tbh Tourist London isn't a true representation of what all of the UK is like - but you will still find its VERY different to the States. Thats why I use to love coming to the US as a kid and teenager because it was SOOOO different to the UK - the USA was/is more daring and free living where I felt less self conscious as I fitted into US culture better than the UK at the time. The UK use to be very boring and frigid and stuck back in time - It was seen as cool to like Heavy Metal in the US and Nerd status in the UK, Skateboarding was cool, Fake Tits were a thing LMAO

Milfpounder's picture

No....I'm coming to YOUR house is what I meant

Cumming? In his house?

London is just the hub and I've toured everything there. I've been to Bath, Stonehenge, Dover, Manchester, etc. I'm mostly Irish with ancestral ties in Cork. Ive seen much of England and Ireland. Still need to get to Scotland one of these days.

press1's picture

NO -----You don't. LMAO

Nah, Scotland is actually a very surreal and picturesque place to visit - especially if you go and stay in a hotel by one of the big Lochs. Use to do a lot of mountain biking trips up there in my teenage years with my Dad and his friends and have some fond memories. A long drive to get there though even from central UK which is where I am. If you want to see how manly you are then try some Haggis LOL Bad

I mean most of the Scots generally hate all English even the ones that live on our side LMAO Not sure if they like Irish/Americans or not either lol Have you ever visited York where the Vikings lived? I am not too far from there

Greg's picture

Yes, I've been to York, and to Scandinavia. My father was Norwegian/Irish

-- part Irish part viking part German... I'm a Brit's worst nightmare... thank God there's no French in me. (he says as he backs up to the wall)

press1's picture

The Brits tend to have more of an issue with the Irish than Zee Germans I think, Brits tend to like the Germans as we like their cars and food a lot. Their general personality appeals to us also as they tend to be quite direct and to the point.

Greg's picture

That's because you defeated the Germans. Lesson. Don't fuck with the Irish Catholics.

That said, you took everything but the potatoes and when those dried up we migrated to the US, built and tamed it. Then, being a god fearing good people we stood at your side during WWII.

Then, when we discovered soccer and brought it home rather than seeing it as the US emulating British culture you saw it as yet more (Irish) American culturalism and returned to calling it Football.

So there we are full circle. You guys really need to get over the Irish.

It's mind boggling how your asses can be so tight and yet your best export is Monty Python

press1's picture

I think our issue with the Irish tends to be a little known bunch called the IRA who detonated a number of bombs in London during previous years Lol

Plus the Travelling community tend to cause a LOT of problems parking up and occupying whole fields and refusing to move LMAO They do it in supermarket car parks now too. They cause a lot of trouble.

Greg's picture

Jesus. We stop the bombing and you're still bitching about parking. There’s no pleasing you people.

press1's picture

Did you go to the Yorvik centre where you ride round on the little carts on the magnetic rails that show you what the old streets use to look like - where the people use to throw buckets of piss out of the top windows onto the streets below where people were walking? LMAO The Shambles the famous street is called.

Greg's picture

I don't recall the yorvik center or it's Disney sounding attraction but I do recall the storybook charm.
