-1 ADHD Meds and Steroids

ad

So as the title suggests, i have a few questions about ADHD meds and steroids... particularly my own meds. But the point im trying to get to is would there be any sort of interactions between Atomoxetine HCL, Bupropion HCL and any common steroids? Ive heard combining all 3 could cause heart and BP issues but i was wondering is that really of concern and if it is do you guys have any idea of how to help me avoid those dangers while still being able to freely try steroids? Please if anybody has tips from past experiences please lmk as im hopefully gonna get my bloods tested today or soonish and last we checked they were perfect. Hopefully that hasnt changed much

Always prepare, keep a blood pressure monitor and bp meds in your house and stay on top of checking. And not sure why you got negged since your looking for people's experience and not a lesson from chatgpt

Oh mb i misread your message, i mean it happens, best you can do is fight or make peace with em idk. I just roll with the punches yknow?

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Thats fair and i did apologize to him and i do apologize to u for acting like that but AI isnt close to being 100% correct yet and has been multiple times on record, guessing and "lying" to reinforce its answer. If you need any more context just read some of my other replies

I ran your scenario with my bro ChatGPT...

There’s no hard contraindication, but it’s not a “neutral” combo either. The overlap creates additive stimulation and cardiovascular stress.

What actually overlaps
1) Stimulation / nervous system load
Atomoxetine → ↑ norepinephrine
Bupropion → ↑ dopamine + norepinephrine
Anabolic steroids → can ↑ dopaminergic tone and CNS arousal

-- Together:

Higher chance of anxiety, irritability, restlessness
Sleep issues are common (this is usually the first thing people notice)
2) Blood pressure & heart strain (most relevant)

All three can push:

Blood pressure up
Heart rate up

Steroids add:

↑ hematocrit (thicker blood)
Worse lipids (HDL down, LDL up)

-- Net effect:

Stacked cardiovascular load, especially on higher-dose cycles
3) Seizure threshold (specific to bupropion)
Bupropion lowers seizure threshold
Stimulatory environments (poor sleep, dehydration, high-dose compounds) increase risk

-- Not common, but:

Risk is higher if someone is:
Running harsh compounds
Sleeping poorly
Using other stimulants
4) Liver/metabolism angle (minor but real)
Bupropion inhibits CYP2D6
Some steroids (especially orals) share metabolic pathways

-- Usually not a major issue, but:

Could slightly alter drug levels, especially with oral steroids

Dawg i am not gonna take u seriously if u always use gpt like this and not your brain. So i will politely decline your advice

press1's picture

This is probably the MOST accurate and Trustworthy advice you are going to get on here regarding the topic you are asking us about you Ungrateful SHIT!!! You do realise we aren't actually qualified Doctors who are just sat around all day waiting for people like you to ask us questions which we are also taking the time to answer for FREE!!

Dawg i am not gonna take u seriously if u always use gpt like this and not your brain. So i will politely decline your advice

Answered like you think you are some kind of Fuckin Martyr

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Ok? I dont get why your out here dragging this on. The whole subject has been done and over with and im not ungrateful, i just strive for better always

press1's picture

You strive for a better answer?

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

For anything really, isnt that what weight lifting/dieting is all about? Striving for better gains, bods, confidence?

Khandum's picture

Tbh its kind of weird to decline advice that is most likely factually correct just because it's from AI. If AI can get you the information for drug interactions fast, then why decline that info, your own ego?

I have also used AI to inform me on drug interactions, and conflictions with my health, and guess what its worked every time. No reason to discredit AI or the guy who tried helping you out.

No thats fair and i understand that i do apologize it was whack for me to act like that but i generally dont like AI being used publically on larger scales. Most AIs have been caught geussing or "lying" at times so to use something that not close to 100% correct all the time is a lil sketch. I personally use it for smaller more personal things but yea i would not share ai info publically on a larger scale until it is closer to being correct all the time

press1's picture

Since this is YOUR issue that you want answers to - Why don't you Man up and stop lying to your own Doctor about using Anabolic Steroids and just Bloody ask him the answer??!!

Khandum's picture

That is true, I have personally found AI guessing and lying as well, but i know better and always call it out. They always then back down from their stance and say "You're so right, I cant believe I missed that!" Then proceed to regurgitate what I told them to be fact or false. There are moments though AI is just incredible though, and have thoroughly impressed the hell out of me. Typically when it comes to medical shit like this, they are usually really good with it.

That is true, it does have its glowie moments

How can anybody take you seriously when you can't even use Google?

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Imma at least apologize as i know i didnt provide you with that info in the post but im looking for guidance and maybe freak interactions between underlying mechanisms in my meds. But if you are gonna use gpt next time please make it less obvious

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

My dude, ive been on my meds for well over a year now and its my second time ever using atomoxetine. If you dont think i havent already googled what my meds are and what they do please move along. Not to mention gpt is a dry unintelligent response when almost everyone including myself has access to one

fp50's picture

Copy that. I wasn't trying to be insulting. I have super advanced ADHD and always run things past ChatGPT or Claude. I think what we learn is that each respond differently to the combination of meds.

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Not to mention im a bit schizo when it comes to AI, like i genuinely believe the ais we have access to might just be there to sell our data they collect to companies wanting to sway the market

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Nah thats fair, and i understand you were trying to help, i personally use chat gpt for smaller things but i never recommend it to ither people only because ther current AIs that we, the public have access too still isnt 100% correct or close to 100% all the time and has been caught many times guessing or "lying"

fp50's picture

We have vastly different experiences with AI, especially with Claude. One thing ChatGPT nails is how to reconstitute peptides. Stuff like that belongs there.

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Ah nvm it wasnt you who did it, i was at work on mobile when i saw this and didnt have enough time to fully read this.

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Okay, i can buy that, mostly because the only real things ive used chatgpt for were small tips for my custom workout routine and my first semi serious diet. While it did give me small tips on how to improve it, it also did show me alot fo things i missed when making a routine. Though its still a good idea to cross reference the info it provides with google the ol fashioned way at least if you do plan on giving any ai advice again. Though seriously no harsh feelings i really do believe i acted a bit too aggressively at first

fp50's picture

No problem. I have not taken offense. I have adult kids and they are super skeptical of AI and give me shit about it. I am actually starting a new job soon where I will be an individual contributor managing a large grant with tons of coordination between different government, non profit and private sector entities. This grant has huge regulation compliance issues. For most of my career I could hire people to handle details and follow through on priorities, now it is on me and I am a bit worried because my ADHD manifests itself with a lack of prioritization and follow through. I plan on leveraging Claude significantly for this job. I need to have a detailed oriented wingman. I will also be taking Vyvanse to help with my ADHD, which also will affect my sleep.

Balancing work, lifting,/exercise, diet, PED and Peptide injections, medication, supplements, sleep, etc. is hugely challenging for those afflicted with ADHD.

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Oh shit thats great! Though yeah im the same way, luckily i learned how prioritize, though it took alot of work and therapy to get to this point

I am on Bupriopion, Prozac(fluoxetine), Guanfacine, Trazadone and I have never had any issues and I have been on gear forever. I am on a BP med too so that is the only thing I might keep an eye if you aren't on one.

infern0's picture

Monitor your BP, but meds like that are non stimulants therefore if u were on the more controlled ADHD meds you might need to take more precaution.

BigDdaddy's picture

Not sure about the first med, but I was on Bupropion for years while cycling. I had to monitor my BP regularly, but it wasn't anything terrible. I cycled for probly 8 years while on it. For me it was all about diet. Don't drink alcohol and watch your sugar intake. Just maintain a clean diet and monitor your BP. The only compound I had issues with was Tren. It would sky rocket my BP. I've never been a massive doses kinda guy. I run all my compounds at a certain rate. A little goes a long way. I never run Test over 600mg week. Others like Mast and NPP around 300mg. I see guys running mega doses and to me the sides at that level just aren't worth it. Get blood work regularly, keep doses moderate and check your BP often while assessing your tolerance bro. Everyone's different.

Androgenic_AuDHDumbass's picture

Oh ok thats good at least so i have been monitoring my sugar intake already pretty well. Though i do cheat heavily... usually in binge sessions every 1-3weeks and alcohol i actually just started monitoring last year so its nice to know im on the right track

BigDdaddy's picture

Good for you on the alcohol bro. Keep working at that sugar intake. Discipline is key in this game. It is the most important word in life. You open many doors thru discipline that are otherwise locked to you. Also, if you are a smoker, try to quit that. Do your very best and remember, you can control BP with drugs, but you can fix BP and move on a healthier man with cardio. Just something to think about.

I mean if you read that these could happen. Then always prepare for the worst. Everyone is different and will react differently even while taking the same medications. Get your a bp cuff, hr monitor. Check first thing in morning, afternoon and before bed. If you see the high bp or hr get you some telmisartan or angio blocker to help control it.

Oh, I'd have to look into that. Thank you for the advice dude!
