ad

How many of you guys Homestead, raise live stock. The wife and I raise chickens, goats, turkeys and a few geese. We have close to 150 chickens, 3 goats, 2 turkeys and 4 geese. Please feel free to share your homesteading tips and tricks and of course pictures of your animals.

From the very first day they hatch we're holding them and playing with them on a daily basis, their all pretty tame and chill, however there's always a one that wants to act all cocky we weed them out.

I’d kill to be able to homestead, literally.

The Ol'Lady and I still both have full-time jobs but we're working as hard as we can to just be able to live off the land. It's not as easy to do as some people think.

I’d get one but I’m just not ready for a dog after losing my Lilly. Before I got her I never understood why grown men cried when their dogs died. Whe I got my Lilly I had no idea the felt human emotions. Like sad happy and sad. The love you so much and want to be with you all of the time. When the vet said she was in pain and I had to put her down I low it. I never knew I could love a dog that much. I really really loved that dog. She was my family. I got a picture of her on my night stand. I’ll post it here later

press1's picture

It's Okay to develop new love and emotions for a new animal mate, it doesn't mean that you are betraying Lilly in any way. Unfortunately grief and loss is a part of life that you just have to accept if you have animals and also in relationships. Holding on to the past only ends up hurting you if you overthink it sometimes, developing new experiences and happiness also helps you to deal with loss. Any animal or human that loved you when they passed would only want the best for you in your own life as long as you are still alive mate Smile

It's rough losing a pet it really is, my Boston's are my family I love them as much as I love most of my family members. I had a hunting bog a couple years back that was my best friend he went everywhere with me, he got hit by a car one night and my world fell apart.

Do you have any Buyers lined up yet bud?

shaun1's picture

We haven't really put them up for sale yet we probably will in a couple weeks they can go to there new forever homes around 5 and a half to 6 weeks old. We're keep 2 of them, obviously Press Jr and the one my Ol'Lady likes. So we will sell the 2 Chocolate females and the other black and with male. I want to keep all 5 of them but that would put us with 9dogs, but that's way to many to have.

So the 2 black and white ones are boys which is a normal color for boston Terriers then Press Jr is what color they call Lilac a light brown which is somewhat common then the other 2 are girls and they look like their going to be chocolate which is kinda a rare color for Boston's

They look to be getting bigger mate - how long do you think before we will see them stand up and walk?

shaun1's picture

Their already trying to push themselves up now, for them to be completely standing good on their own probably another week at the latest a week and a half. Their progressing rather quickly.

Dogs are born with their eyes and ear canals sealed shut to protect their underdeveloped eyes, optic nerves, and ears from infection and damage. Because puppies are born premature compared to some other mammals, this protective barrier allows their eyes to continue maturing in a safe environment. Their senses usually open between 10 and 14 days old.

They already look to be getting bigger mate - do you weigh them?

Does she just tend to them and watch over them all day then?

shaun1's picture

We have them set up in a pen like this, there's plenty of room for them to crawl around

shaun1's picture

I have to get another scale the one I used to weigh out my food shit the bed.

We have them in our spare bedroom, their in like a puppy pen, her and the pups. She takes good care of them while we're at work and once we're home from work we give her a break from them, we'll bottle feed them and just hold them to get them use to human contact.
