Those lil set ups are nice. My father got me one when i was 15. Still standing and perfectly usable to this day in his backyard. They're not bad price at all. It's the fucking plates and fixed dumbells that get pricey. I had those screw on dumbells when i was younger where the bar had threads on the end and the collar was the nut. Worked though. Just took a lil extra work changing weight between sets.
I have a pull up/ dip station in my apartment now. In NYC... that's the most I'll get.
Cant tell you how many times id put weight on those db handles and the plates come falling off or worse onto my head. The good ol high school days

I've never had a plate fall off the screw on dumbbell bars. I had a ez curl like that also. Lol
The ones you spin to tighten. Whenever i would go over 55lbs and had multiple plates on there was a chance it could happen. I had multiple sets growing up and not everyone did this but pretty much they did if i had 3to4 5-25lb plates on them

Yeah bro I used those screw on dumbbells for many years growing up. This little setup is decent man. Better than I expected honestly. Last night did shoulders and arms. Tonight doing chest and back and so far man I’m feeling good.
I was looking on Craigslist and a guy was giving away over 500lbs in plates. You just had to pick em up. Idk if people use that there or Facebook marketplace sometimes people just want to get rid of it. The plates had a lil rust but nothing crazy and for free fuck it if i had room I'd of got em
