Chest pain DOMS or something else?
Seem to be having issues when training chest.
I can really work out every other muscle group to failure but when I go for it with chest it’s like I pull something everytime and it’s sore for days.
Current routine for chest following a friends program is
Dumbbell chest press 3 sets pushing for a minimum of 8 reps ( only at 34kg baby weights) 1 warm up set
Pec deck also 3 sets up to 107kg I shorten the range of motion when the weight creeps past 86kg
3 sets of cables upper and lower, by this point I’m gubbed ( biceps are thrown in there also inbetween chest exercises)
Is this DOMS or something else
I don’t get any issues from any other muscle group and can consistently go up in weight and or reps bar chest day which makes chest days not as exciting as it should be..

Why not warm up with push up or flat barbell. Dumbbell isolate allot. So maybe to much strain on the target muscle too quick.
If i don't warm chest up right i get a pulling feeling in the lower outside of the pec like by the arm pit. Especially staying with isolation moves without warming up right. The muscle would pull and feel like if i keep going its going to tear. If i warm it up. None of that happens.
That’s exactly where the pain is. Mostly left pec but it’s happend in the right one before as well.
Looking forward to chest day from yourguys response, I’ve a new goal to achieve! Less pain more gain haha
Yeah it's my left side too. It can happen in the right though. Good thing about it is it means you can contact your muscle in your chest hard. Bad thing is makes it easy to tear if not warm.
I can get a pulling pain in my chest taking a shower or reaching around myself too far, hard, and fast. I am 260+ pounds so is allot of reaching lol.
Jesus dude. You doing a full body stretch for a glute injection? I have to and I’m on a guess 100 pounds lighter than that.
A glute shot would do it. A shoulder shot really would. I mainly only do quads now, and pecs occasionally. I'll catch the hip/ventro once in awhile too. I gave up and full but cheeck. Lol
Lower amount of volume, keep it short and sweet. If you’re that sore you at probably creating unnecessary muscle damage. The soreness is def because chest is a weak point. Add more sets once you don’t feel that anymore. Slowly slowly. Make sure you take enough rest days and take in clean calories, at least .7g protein per lb of bw and complex carbs
Thanks for this. Really appreciate it when folks take time out of their day to reply.
Don’t be afraid to lower your chest workouts to 5 sets, ESPECIALLY if going to legit failure. It’s adequate. Give yourself time to adapt
You're on steroids?
Just 150mg of test e currently.
I’m hypogonadal have tried npp before at low doses.
Toes dipped that’s all.
I would definitely be working towards increasing your overall volume. Like @Petecastiglione said, do it slow and safe. You're just not gonna get much better with that little bit of volume.
If your joints are hurting you, you can try lowering the weights quite a bit and focusing on very slow eccentrics (8-10 second negatives and at least 45 seconds per set). That will be easier on your joints and force tons of blood into your pecs. Gives you a huge pump.
Thanks dude again also appreciate the time to reply.
Out of curiousity you asked if I was on steroids earlier, Have I posted in a steroid section or something? I’m useless when it comes to new forums etc.
Cheers for sharing the wisdom.
Your on a steroid site. And your bio says self TRT and beyond like you're steroid buzz light-year.
So I was just curious.
Totally understandable ----
Fking buzz light year.
That’s getting changed I dunno why I put that in there haha
That’s trt mate
I suppose it is but I don’t do it with a clinic or doctor anymore so I felt like saying “its trt” isn’t truthful cos I can dictate what dosages I can take now.
Some pretentious guy with a college degree doesn’t need to scribble on a piece of paper to make it trt.
Cheers man atleast I know what to call it for now
blasts aren’t out of the question but tweaking the basics first is a must.
Oh yea of course. You’re doing it smart
