+ 1 Favorite bed time food?

ad

I was wondering what everyone's favorite food or meal is at bedtime? I heard cottage cheese is good so I try to eat a cup of that mixed with a banana because I hate cottage cheese and a scoop of protein powder. I try not to eat anything heavy as it fucks my sleep up. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I am a big believer in cottage cheese and pineapple before bed for the slow release of casein as I sleep. I've tried casein protein powders before and they always come out so thick and I can't stand the consistency. So whole food wins again...

Honestly I've found if I can get better deeper sleep than loading my stomach with blood so Im more a total macros guy so I'll have something light if I do the same thing I eat every other meal other chicken and rice or whey and some form of rice ... Some kind of variation different fruits begs for micros but the more I keep the same foods the more I can trust more food when I feel it can be utilized best ... Sleeping you do need nutrition but deep restorative sleep is how we heal we grow ... Hey if your pushing for me Olympia like Ronnie and jay but there's a lot a huge pros who are pretty damn big and they are way more gut conscious...I mean if your ginid bad everything gets bad fromther liver kidneys even heart cause of fluid inflammation..just another thought... The pre bed or mid night protein shakes or dairy always keeps up and bloated so ..

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich and protein shake…grow!!!…..

Always slams!!!!!

Cottage cheese and pineapple.
Nearly 80% of the protein in cottage cheese is casein (a slow digesting protein). Bromelain (an enzyme found in pineapple) breaks down proteins into smaller, more absorbable peptides and amino acids.

Fannypack's picture

I agree 100%. That's my go to

Darkhorse777's picture

I do agree with Greg the one dairy I can do before bed besides isolate is cottage cheese with pineapple...the pineapple helps it digest tremendously I add pineapple mango and Paypa to my meals for the enzymes...

Peanut butter (couple tablespoons or so) or a cereal that is low in sugar and higher in protein. And, when I wake up in the night I may have a glass of milk. If you like yogurt, Oikos has one that is 15g of protein.

You guys and your cereal LOL. CEREAL has only one place and that is post workout DROWNED with fairlife milk

JakeKO's picture

Sometimes I stop in Walmart after a hard workout and buy a half gallon of Fairlife Chocolate Milk. I prefer drinking that over any kind of protein shake because it’s probably the best tasting chocolate milk I’ve ever had. I actually have to stop myself from drinking the whole half gallon, or then I’m too full to eat anything for breakfast

I am sure I have seen Fairlife protein RTD's over here now in the supermarkets lol

Nah lucky charms or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Cap’n Crunch is ok too if you’re willing to absolutely wreck the roof of your mouth.

Rosschestzip's picture

Ya Cinnamon Toast Crunch definitely makes the cut for the cereal Hall of Fame

I’ll pour a bowl of lucky charms, sit down with my daughter, and it becomes a race of if I can finish it before she plucks all the marshmallows out and eats them lol. I use her little toddler spoon to give her a fair chance

Rosschestzip's picture

I opened the box of lucky charms the other day and one of the kids had eaten every.single.marshmallow. And still almost a full bag of the cereal left

Lmao. That’s something mine would do. Which is why I put the box too high for her to reach. It’s just fuckin alpha-bits at that point….though that cereal wasn’t too bad when I was a kid.

They have Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles. They're pretty good.

I do like Cinnamon toast crunch too. And Reese's puffs.

Cocoa Pebbles is second. Frosted Flakes isn't even in the running. Although, it doesn't get as soggy as it used to. Dunkin' Caramel Macchiato Cereal is really good. Not a good nighttime cereal. It is made with some coffee concentrate.

Rosschestzip's picture

There’s this stuff called “eat your mouth off” its protein cereal, it’s supposed to be like Cocoa Puffs/pebbles and it’s like 25g of protein, so I say it and was like FUCK YA!! That’s a ton of protein, I’ll eat that shit all day. And it was like 14$ a box but I really wanted to try it. THE WORST THING IVE EVER EATEN!!! It was so horrible, I couldn’t believe it. The second it hits your tongue l, you think it’s gunna be great cus it’s so sweet and chocolaty and then it immediately turns to styrofoam assholes. I was so disappointed

I don't eat a lot of cereal, but I'm certainly not going for healthy when I do. Lol

Rosschestzip's picture

I don’t care about healthy eaither but imagine if you could eat your favorite , fruity pebbles all day and get a duck ton of protein at the same time?!? That would be sick. I’d be swole as fuck, hitting my daily protein everyday

scoobydoo's picture

Is a duck ton equivalent to a fuck ton? Lol. That wouldn't be bad. Guilt free Fruity Pebbles.

Rosschestzip's picture

It’s similar just slightly less, more than a ton and not quite a fuck ton.

I cant eat cottage cheese. Makes me want to puke. I usually heat up whatever the wife made for dinner again. My fav is bow tie pasta with filet cut up and mixed in. Perfect balance of carbs and protein.

jimmie's picture

For most people that's because of the texture. Try this with a blender to smooth it out. Big scoop of peanut butter, melt it in the microwave. Big scoop of cottage cheese, banana, honey, cinnamon. I smoosh it and mix it without a blender and it's delicious.

I just had tortellini’s with meat sauce. Good before bed. Yes I know it’s 8:30 am I work third shift for now

Ya good shit, I love Italian food. One of the only foods I could consistently eat myself into a coma with, day after day all day along. Manicotti, lasagna, stuffed shells, chicken parm, ravioli, baked ziti, fettuccine Alfredo, ALL OF IT!!!! I sometimes wish I was born into a big Italian family just so I could eat that shit everyday

Don't forget the cannoli's.

TrenAThor's picture

I've been there. I worked 3rd shift for 2 years. It's the worst to try to figure out any schedule. I would take 2 meals with me to eat between job set ups. Usually the basic chicken or steak and rice some veggies. I tried every sleeping schedule and workout schedule. The better of them was to go to the gym after work around 8am and go to sleep around 1 or 2. Either way you put it it never felt like I got good solid sleep.
