+ 9 Blood Donor badge

ad

Got my donor badge for 100 blood donations today. I must say I'm kinda proud. Its about 50 litres or 13.2 gallons of blood already being used for a good purpose! Also got a certificate and a little ceremony where the head of transfusion department thanked me in person it felt good!

Every day people you know (and love) might need your blood to save their lives (happened to me to many times already). In my country there's only 2% of people donating regularly and there is a critical shortage of blood several times per year. Current state of blood reserves is 42% of its ideal condition.

How often do you give? From what I thought about giving blood(red cells) this must have taken many years. If it was plasma, it's still impressive, but I think you can give plasma twice a week. Either or, good on you for doing your part!

I started to donate when I was 18, at that time I was dating a nurse who introduced me to the medical system and explained how important blood is for the healthcare. Since then I always donated more or less regularly. Last years my focus is to donate every 8-12 weeks. Smile And yes, this was always full blood, not just plasma Smile

I think I drink too much chocolate milk and eat to many cookies afterwards so they won't give a me a pin.
Thanks for donating Good Nice pin. Wear it proudly.

Yeah, a little token of appreciation goes a long way! I also get a chocolate everytime I visit, lol. And I aways leave it in the station nurses' office. Its a good karma day for me in every aspect :-))
