I just got prescribed 50mg daily of Androgel from my doctor. My test level was at 299. What should I expect? Should I order anything online to add with this? I have man boobs, beer belly, and have a large frame big shoulders….just need some advice on how to get started. Wanna get in good shape then come off everything and maintain with great nutrition. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Follow doctors TRT protocol.. Hit the gym 5 days a week, and most importantly learn about nutrition. Learn about macros and how they fill ur daily calorie count. Learn about the difference between how Carbohydrates or fats can fuel ur body. The kitchen should be ur new passion, followed with a good workout plan.. TRT will keep u balanced and add some motivation to achieve ur goals

Fyi, trt is typically a one way road. I wouldnt start androgel, if you plan on eventually trying to get off of it.

I'm your age, a body can be resurrected from the dead! It can be done brother.

You don’t take steroids to get in shape, you go on a diet and exercise.

Give it a good 90 day effort. Track your macros. You’ll probably be surprised.
Personally when dieting I beleive in a cheat meal once a week.
Prevents burn out and gives a man something to look forward to.
Good luck

One advice I was given that changed my life was stick to something that you can eat long term instead of "I will eat less of this for 3 months". I hopped on the Carnivore train early 2020. I lost a lot of weight fast, until my gym shut down and ate carbs again. I almost immediately gained most of my weight back. As soon as I switched to a flexible high protein way of eating, it became a complete game changer and was the best shape of my life while natty.

60 days is huge when counting calories and macros.

generally it very tough to maintain what you have built on steroids. over time unfortunately everything will go drugs no longer assist protein conversion to muscle

To answer your other question regarding what you should expect, you should expect to feel a lot more energy, maybe some oily skin, possibly some bloat, mainly typical hormone side effects since your body was used to a lower level. You'll probably also have increased libido. Stay the course of what your doctor recommends, get some good sleep, hit the weights, and cook some clean food. I'm sure you'll be happy with your results!

Don't start taking anything else and screw up your TRT with your Doc. It is going to be a fairly long process to dial in your dose right, expect at least 6 months or more. The TRT will start working so just be patient and keep working out with a good diet. IT will happen but not overnight.

Thank you for putting this in perspective for me

6-12 Months to dial in for sure, took me around 9 months and atleast 4 protocol changes. Patience and diet are a must for sure.

I appreciate this so much. So greatful for this form forum. I need this feedback.

Your doc will get things dialed in with the bloodwork, takes time to get it exactly right though. You should start noticing a difference pretty quickly. I would suggest looking through the training and nutrition sections on the site here and ask any questions if you have any.

You got prescribed TRT by a doctor that in combination with proper training and diet should be enough to get in shape. Don't start a cycle with too high of a body fat percentage it will only cause unwanted aromatization. Use the search function there's plenty of posts on training and dieting that will be helpful.

I’m happy to hear that with my new script, proper eating, and Excercise I can get on a fast track. I’ll update in 3-months on next blood test. Feels great getting feedback!!
