Went to a great urologist after being in a men's health clinic & now wondering how to tell him I want to stay on TRT.

Went to a men's health clinic and honestly they are the worst. I was turning 42 started getting soft erections & limp dick on occasions. I had dabbled in Roids in the past. Figured I had low Test. Clinic checked my bloods and said I was a candidate for TRT. I'm 6ft3 280 & lift, I'm not in great shape, I look like a bouncer at a night club. Libido went through the roof & mentally just felt better and more pleasant to be around. During the year my dosage was adjusted up to 140mg a week and feel great & happy with this dosage. I donate blood regularly & Bp & labs are great. Problem was I still had erection problems even with viagra/cialis. Figured it was mental, I'm older and gained weight, 280 is the heaviest I've ever been. Finally decided to get checked out. The urologist was like a Balls Whisperer. Dropped my pants he rubbed my balls and was like let's see why your Test is low & see if we can get you off TRT. Rubbed my balls for 10 sec & Immediately was like you got varicose veins in both testicles. I was like " so" lol. He explained that lowers Test levels and if not fixed can cause impotence/erectile dysfunction. Did a ultrasound and showed me, then scheduled surgery. 6 weeks later balls still super tender & still hanging down to my knees. God forbid you get hit in the nuts after this surgery. Someone even brushes by your balls you will drop to the ground. The urologist was on point. Past 2 weeks I haven't had to take a dick pill at all. Right now I'm healing up great and scheduled to meet up with the urologist in Nov. The urologist just gives me a script for my Test & I do my own injections at home while the clinic made me come in (big inconvenience) once a week. The urologist seemed determined to get me off. How do I tell him I want to stay on TRT & keep him as my doctor? Honestly he seems like a "by the book" type of guy & a great doctor. I'm really getting back into lifting & want to get in tremendous shape, maybe I'm getting greedy but have been thinking about once dropping weight and getting to 230lbs increasing my dosage but that's for the future but right now how do I explain I want to stay on TRT to him if he thinks I don't need it anymore?

Seems simple to me, get your bloods drawn and take a look at your numbers, if your balls are good to go then no need for the TRT. Greg, I love TRT, I discuss everything with my dr. and we go over all my scheduled blood work. It really changed my life in many ways, but I would have never went down this road unless it was needed.

So the doc found the real reason you had low T, wants you to get off TRT, and you don't. It's not a free ticket to cycle all the time. If the Doc says you don't need it, he is not going to prescribe it. So get off of it and follow his advice. Don't be stupid.

Trust me I understand but since being on it I feel great. I'm a much better person. I just don't want to lose that feeling. You can say it's a crutch but I'm feeling amazing. I'm just worried I might just reach that marker where I'm low but don't need TRT and go back into being miserable. I may be worried about nothing. I might never need TRT again & still be in a great mood. It's just weird being a moody miserable person for the past couple of years then suddenly feeling great again. Like I said I'm just going to wait until November and see what happens.

I had a whole paragraph written on how stupid you sound. You have an opportunity to not be a slave and you are choosing to put the cuffs on. Are you sure you're 42? Anyways I can't offer you any help, you don't want it, you want a cosign and you won't get that from me. Listen to your fucking doctor and get off the shit you don't need.

We try our best to promote safety here and this is not it.

In November I will get you my new labs. I'm supposed to go in with the doctor to see if the surgery helped raise my T levels. I believe all blood work will be done then.

If you are still taking weekly shots there will be ZERO change, so you needed to have already stopped a month ago

I don't remember what my levels were at exactly but I do remember at the clinic I was asking what the equivalent my Test levels were at and the doc said basically I was at the range your average 21 yr old would be. The urologist has my very 1st labs from when I was diagnosed by the clinic to see if I was a candidate for TRT. I will get all that from him in November. Honestly I didn't ask much about my labs when ever I got them done except were my stats good and if there was anything I need to look out for. As long as the doctors at the clinic said I was good I didn't ask much questions.

I agree, for all he knows he may bounce right back and be perfectly fine, It leads me back to the suprapsychological effects of higher than normal testosterone levels and its ability to change you emotionally. I would give one of my fingers to not have to be on trt, it gets so tiring having to monitor, inject, scar tissue, possibility of absesses sterile and non.

Like Greg said listen to your doc if you eat clean take the right supplements and really kill your workout you will look better off test than you would taking your 140mg a week and you won't have to jab a needle in yourself every week

Just more proof what a scam these men's health clinics are.

Listen to your doctor. At your age you don't want to start TRT unless you have to. There are so many downsides to the whole thing; gets old real quick.

Plus, your TRT doctor would want to keep you well within the middle normal range so you won't have long term issues with heart, cholesterol, BP, RBC, estrogen etc.. Unlike your men's health clinic which had their own interest in mind and probably kept you at the high end of the scale if not above the high end at your peak levels.

Get off TRT and get blood work to start a new baseline. Lose the weight, eat right, get plenty of sleep. See how you feel at that point. Then get new blood work and see what your new baseline is at that time. I bet you'll see an increase of your natural levels of testosterone.
