Carpal tunnel Surgery feedback.

ad

I’m scheduled to have both Hands fixed at the end of September. I’m a former power lifter and have been putting this off for years because I’m worried it will really affect my hand and arm strength. Can anybody out there share their experience with this surgery? Good results? Bad results? TIA!

I've had endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery done 8 years ago. I was 37 at the time. The endoscopic doesn't cut the muscle and promotes a quicker recovery. I had a couple of co-workers that had the conventional surgery done and this takes serious time for the muscles to recover.

This absolutly worked for me and got my back at work the next day and 100% fully recovered in less than 6 weeks. I regained all my strength and would highly recommend it from my experience.

PS, you need to get this done sooner rather than later, because once the nerves are severly damaged they are done.

My Doctor was a Dr Chow, he pioneered this procedure.

This is a very good point that you brought up that I completely forgot about as a "newer" style of carpal tunnel surgery. Heard good things about it also.

You and me are in the same boat apparently. Both wrists from powerlifting. A buddy told me 6 weeks on his.
I suppose it all depends. He did leave me with the advice though of don't push it and reinjure while healing.
There are of course other areas of you're wrists you don't want to injure by pushing yourself when you aren't healed.
I have ligament damage from years ago and it still gives me problems. Don't want to be out of commission forever!

I fear the same thing. Right now I’m losing sleep because of the numbness and can’t even drive the lawnmower for more than 5 minutes. I just want fixed and back to at least 95%.

I've been there and lived that. I gave up riding motorcycles because of this. My hand returned to 100%

I’m hoping for the same outcome!

I know the feeling!! As halsey mentioned about the endoscopy surgery done, I completely forgot about the new style surgery for carpal tunnel. My buddy had his done probably 20 years ago and his was done the invasive way..... probably why it took him 6 weeks to heal.

Definitely something to look into! Not sure if that's how most carpal tunnel surgery is done now, but I'm thinking so. I really think you will be ok from all I've heard about the surgery, I haven't heard any horror stories or poor outcomes. My buddy lifts and lifts heavy to this day after his surgery and has been good!

I've had both wrists done (separate surgeries). 100% recovered within a few weeks. Had both surgeries over 5 years ago and for me, without question it was well worth it.

I’ve never had the surgery but I have family that has. Their recovery was good and it does not effect their daily lives. Good luck brother. Get it done while your young.

Oh it’s getting done for sure. I just want to continue to lift fairly heavy and have no issues!
