+ 5 Before and after Coronavirus pics

ad

I'm honestly disgusted by how much I've fallen off. Don't need people bashing my physique. I have only been able to use resistance bands for the last 2 months. I've been eating like crap and not training anywhere near as intensely as I do in the gym. The first pic was taken in February. The second pic was taken this week. I've lost definition with an increase in body fat and a loss in muscle mass. Strength has also gone down the crapper. My state has reopened the gyms so I hope to bounce back quickly. I got my bloodwork back. My gear has arrived. I'll upload some post cycle pics in a couple of months.

Just out of curiosity (as I've still been able to train with equipment at home) what sort of strength losses have you experienced over the 9 weeks? - I'm interested to know just how much you lose during this time frame with no proper training.

I've never worked out with resistance bands prior to Coronavirus. I didn't even own any home workout equipment. After all the gyms closed, I bought a pullup and dip bar. I also purchased a resistance band set and a pull up assist band set. I don't use the pull up assist band set for pullups. I wanted it for certain exercises. The only exercises I can accurately compare are pullups and dips. At the gym I was able to do 16 sets at 10 reps with various grips. I would rest for 30 -60 seconds between sets. I would knock out 4 sets of 20 dips when doing chest. When I got the pullup/dip bar I wasn’t able to complete 3 sets of pullups. I did 10, 7 and 3 reps. I struggled to do 10 reps of dips. I was shaking like a leaf. This happened within a month of being out of the gym

This is the thing about training isn't it - You can never really fully relax with it and just do nothing for a few weeks like going on holiday without it affecting you. I've always found anything over and above 5 days of not doing a certain exercise and I start to lose strength in it no matter what. Muscle, bar groove, mind muscle signalling and co-ordination all gets negatively affected. Yeh man its awful when you are doing dips not conditioned properly and your wrists and arms are shaking on every rep, feels like a joint is going to give way doesn't it Lol Same as the old saying - 'Use it or lose it' ....

I'm also 41 with a below average testosterone production for my age bracket. I don't like making excuses but it sure doesn't get easier as we get older.

You'll be fine. You're not the only one. I look at it as rest my body has been needing for a long time. You'll come back even better.

I’ve struggled with various injuries over the years. I fractured my hand last fall. I was just bouncing back when coronavirus hit. I feel like I’m taking two steps back for every step forward. Extremely frustrating.
