Bulking on a budget??

ad

Trying to see if anyone out there knows a cheaper way to bulk. What foods meals etc..

BJ's picture

I keep a jug of peanut butter in my car & take tablespoons of it all day long. Also drissle walnut & Macadamian nut oil on everything!

Rather than repeating what others have already stated. Go to the meat section and see what’s on special/expiring soon on promotion and buy that. Go on youtube, watch meal prep videos that focuses on being on a budget then make some changes as needed. Of course follow other advice in the thread, i thought it was worth adding.

Definitely oats rice potatoes milk and then of course any meat you can buy. Sticking to the basics will probably be the cheapest you can go. Food is so damn expensive... obviously red meat steaks isn't something your going to be able to afford too often. I'll go to the grocery store for dinner come home with $60 worth of crap and look at my wife and say oh my God we could have went out to dinner. Brown meat chicken and rice is cheap. Competitive bodybuilders have it pretty rough. So much money is spent. For the rest of us its a hobby that we sometimes can't even afford. It sucks. Stay away from weight gainers or make your own. If you want to make your own pre-blend your oats dry in a good blender like a ninja and then store for later use. When making a shake add the pre-blended ground oats protein powder banana peanut butter and milk.

what I like to do , is go to giant stores or Walmart,, and get 2 rotisserie chickens (about $ 4.80 a pop) split it up into 5 lunches , add rice , a veggie ,maybe some whole wheat bread, maybe a wrap ,, and some almonds , is a good amout of everything you need and it isn't much as all money wise,, its like $3 a day for lunch,, and it feeds your body to grow,,,

I could go on ,, but im not here to write a book ,, just give some basic info on what works for me

whitemanstink's picture

mass gainers are a waste imo,,,loaded with sugars and shit ,,,
mass gainers are good for "hard gainners" you know the tooth pick people,, other than that ,, no go ,,, if you need more cals , than go for the peanut butter, or a half cup more rice and so on ,,

mass gainers will no be a smart choice imo… adding food is ,, but what do I know ,,, im just a cave man Smile

Phillykev's picture

Does anyone use mass gainers? And have success with them?

kodiakGRRL's picture

most often they are a waste with empty calories. i use them when i am short on calories and really don;t want to eat any more food ... stick with high fiber calorie dense foods for the win

Ohh lol gotya!
Beans are high in protein carbs and fats.
Break the bread up into the beans and you have a mass bulk meal.
Some dude years back was on here living in his car struggling after being kicked out by misses half into a cycle.
He was eating it.
80cents a can and a dollar a loaf along with a couple litres of milk a day and water he done fine.

I love sweet potatoes and coconut oil to add to my meals to help bulk

Lathan1818's picture

You add coconut oil to help bulk?? That helps,, isnt that used for frying things and cooking with ??

Phillykev's picture

I put it in my oat meal and stuff.. coconut oil is a fat and has 9 calories per gram. So that plus your regular food is just raising your calorie intake. But did read somewhere that it can spread up your metabolism. But my metabolism is already super fast, so instead of eating alot of smaller meals I try to eat every 3 to 4 hours but eating a couple of big meals instead of alot of small meals is said to slow down metabolism supposedly.

Manshit's picture

Coconut oil is mct and saturated fat .Its brain food and gives energy. Most use it to control hunger when in keto.I don’t know too many that use it just to up calories but it does work well that way.

Manshit's picture

Doesn’t get much cheaper than chicken and rice and fish and rice even some ground beef and rice Boom you’re bulking!

Whole milk, ground beef, rice and potatoes.
Love Costco

Whole Milk is one of the best things I've discovered in the past year, much more effective than semi-skimmed. Drink a glass every time you eat and you soon put weight on & it's cheap as hell.

I love these pancakes!! They have a lot of protein and fiber. And most off all they are yummy.

Also to get more protein add an egg to the batter. Personally, I am cutting protein powder out for a while, due to stomach problems. I’ve been adding a pancake or two after my workouts. This gives you a carb load and protein.. it works for me. And is SUPER CHEAP

I love these fucking things. I have eaten them every morning for a year. I eat four servings and turkey sausage for my first two meals - 1,180 calories (96 protein/122 carbs).

Costco has these things for a good deal.

Pxpxp's picture

Pour some honey or syrup (if needing some calories), and these are perfect for breakfast, post workout, or anytime.

I load it with butter for better fat and calories.

I also saw they make pre-made waffles/ pancakes in the freezer aisle.

How do you plan on maintaining after your cheap bulk?

Why bother gaining 50 pounds if you can't afford to keep it?

K8MahalKo's picture

Why bother injecting yourself with oils and popping orals just to be your regular self again when you stop? The big muscles deflate, the cuts from the fat loss, they disappear and the fat comes back. OP asked how to save some money bulking and here are you being Negative Nancy

Owes a Review × 1
IrishMack's picture

Is that what happens to you after you cycle? Because what you wrote is pure bullshit. If you lose that much muscle and gain fat then you are seriously doing shit wrong. One has nothing to do with the other.

Eating clean costs money. If you spent a lot of money on eating clean just for your cycle and go back to burgers and pizza then yes, it was a waste. If you buy chicken thighs instead of breast to be cheap then you get what you pay for. Pros may not be huge all year round but they certainly keep eating for their size and their health.
So negative nancy is actually serious Sam.

TheFlash85's picture

What have i told you about feeding the trolls brother.
Lol.
M.o.a.t obviously.

Manshit's picture

Thighs actually cost more than breast per pound.your point is a good one though!

K8MahalKo's picture

After a cycle, of course some size is lost, and cause you are no longer taking shit like tren and mast, some bodyfat comes back around. I agree eating clean costs money, but that is irrelevant to what the OP asked. You act as if you know the OP personally and assumed he is broke, just because he asked for TIPS on how to save some $ on a bulk. You kept assuming he "couldnt afford" things due to that. The man might just be a frugal individual, likes to save $. The other words you ramble are completely irrelevant. Take care
