+ 1 Can I Lift 7 Days a Week- On Bulking Cycle

ad

I’m 37, 6’1”, 215.

On test, tren, Eq cycle.

I lift heavy and hard. Just because I know rest is imperative to growth, I am forcing myself to take one day off. I am doing splits. Chest/tri, back/bi, shoulder/trap and legs. I keep rotating but take Sunday off and it pains me.

I’ve read conflicting articles. Most say you need to take 1-2 days off, but I hate it. Since I’m on a cycle, can I get away with 7 days a week. I know I just need to listen to my body. While I lift heavy enough to still get a little sore, in]m usually fine every 5th day to start over.

I know I could do cardio and stretching on Sunday, but again, I miss the gym and messes up my routine. Anyone think lifting 7 days a week is ok? Or do I at least need to keep Sunday’s off?

MOST guys will eventually over train, burn out or get injured training every single day. Always keep in mind you recover and grow when you rest.

CT Fletcher said there’s no such thing as over training.

Can I fly for few second if I jump from the tallest building in the city? Sure you can. Should you? I don't recommend it.

Your central nervous system needs time to recover, simple as!
You can train 7 days but eventually you will burn out.
Immune system will suffer and you will get cold/flu for example and that will take you out and any extra gains you’ve got from that 7th day of training.

Have you tried non gym related cardio, like hiking/cycling/outdoor swimming? these are my go to if the weathers nice and I’m feeling fresh!

Hey it can be done who is to say that you can't. Just keep in mind that the body needs rest plus nutrition to repair and grow. If you're getting 8-9 hours sleep getting your nutrition, drinking half the amount of your bodyweight in ounces of water, then go for it. If your weight lifting routine is by body part then of course go for it but if you're doing multiple body parts per session then I would personally only lift say up to 5days on 2 days off giving you the option of which 2 days that you arent gyming.

press1's picture

Your body is repairing throughout the whole of the day on rest days not just when you sleep, digesting and processing food etc Just allowing 8 hours a night when he is inactive is not enough time to repair and grow even on just one body part per day. Especially when trying to bulk and gain weight, and trying to maintain a calorie surplus.

I wouldn’t. I generally train six days a week.
Never cared much for cardio but I love lifting weights.
The day I don’t lift which is Weds. currently I’m a total dick. Weight training I’m convinced affects your mind as well as your body.

Without question bro, lifting weights releases endorphins. Just like my name implies the pain of working your body and the endorphins released are addictive .

The sense of reward and accomplishment from completing a gruelling workout that you are not even sure you can finish, as it is so mentally and physically draining is unmatched by anything else. Especially so when you exceed and better your previous workout. The Euphoric workouts are the best though - the euphoria you can get after some workouts is better than any orgasm Lol Lasts longer too ...

Tayloratl2019's picture

Me too. In a bad mood. Feel off. Quite frankly I’m lethargic those days (force myself on sundays and no work, so can Afford to be lethargic but hate it)

That was my way of thinking years back that more training is better but it turns out that I was wrong...
long story short...your CNS needs to recover too, and no AAS or another drug will speed up that process...powerlifters know that best that you cant do 100% out of you 7x a week and not to mention to have a life besides that, family, kids...or have to work like me 12h a day, every week different schedule and most of that night shifts.
Besides, you grow when you rest, not when you train.

Way too much! 5 times per week is more than enough, only thing u can do is to split legs like hams A.M. and quads P.M. , but no matter how much u run or eat - your body needs 2 rest days per week! And trust me if u hear/read or think that pro's train so often, don't believe it. Most of them train a.m. and p.m 4-5 times per week, yes thats more than seven workouts but what counts is the full day off! Your a human not a machine...

My training pattern is similar, I find the easiest way to judge is to listen to your body. It will let you know when you need a break and you aren't ready for say another day on a particular region (or any if your entire body is killing you).

Definitely think 7 days is too much and it will start to negatively impact on overall average performance. Rest every 7th day, and if you've really had a go at it rest the 4th day every now and then gauging on what your body is telling you.

Don't be fooled by the pumping of the gears during training.
Muscle needs nutrition and recovery to grow.
The equipment is needed to achieve your goals first.

Be careful not to hurt yourself.

Good idea, but my wife would kill me. I run a small business, so she needs me around when I’m not at the office Smile

Can't agree with you more. Gotta separate work and play so to speak.

Good point - I've often thought this can happen. The amount of people that have suggested to me working in a gym as a personal trainer I've lost track of, but I've always said back although I love training and everything that goes with it I don't believe in mixing business with pleasure as it can often take away the fun of your hobby when you have to start to do it in order to survive. You see a different side to it all rather than it just being fun and enjoyable. Although the flip side you can say is if its something you really enjoy then it doesn't really feel like you are working as such. Swings & roundabouts I guess lol

Bulking has to do with recovery like everyone says. The most important part is eating! Eat clean but a lot of clean carbs and a lot of clean protein. My meals consist of 10oz of ground turkey and 8oz of Jazmine rice every 2 to 3 hours. Every few days I’ll get 2 big nice cheeseburgers and kill those usually after a leg workout. I do 5 to 6 days.

Bro I would say bulking or cutting the answer is no...hell no.

Time off is of the up most importance , your body needs time to heal all the micro tears and re-hydrate your joints. Hitting continuously 7 days over and over with out a break will inevitably injure you.

Diet+sleep+time off = breaking through plateaus .

I get that your trying to get ahead of the power curve, but doing 7 on 0 off is gonna end up setting you way back.

x 2 Ohh yeahh babayy - Light weight!

Hunter2400's picture

What we do outside the gym is just as important as what we do in the gym....that includes your rest. I'd say keep your Sunday fun day and rest. BUT if you do give 7 days ago, start tracking your progress and let us know how it's going. I would be interested in your findings

press1's picture

Ultimately a lot of it depends on how near you are to you full strength potential and how long you've been training seriously for. I remember when I could virtually train 7 days a week with tonnes of energy and make progress every single workout, but the stronger you become the more rest and recuperation you will need to keep progressing. Getting stronger happens when you eat and sleep and the fact is if you go up against someone who gives it their all 4 days a week and you are doing it 7 days a week they will ultimately become a lot stronger and heavier than you. Gaining the discipline to take days off to rest when you don't really want to is also a skill that you have to master to really reach your full potential.

GrowMore's picture

Try it, record your progress and compare it to when you do have a day of rest.

Plenty of lads workout 7 days a week and have decent physiques, then again some workout 3 times and look better. You need to find what works for you as in my experience ways of training and how an individual progresses/reacts with those techniques has the biggest variations person to person than anything else in this sport, far greater than drugs or food.

Recovery is important. You must give your body time to heal. It's your decision but I wouldn't do seven days1

I know. I hit it really hard, I’m eating like a champ, I’m sleeping pretty well. I do get sore but by the time I’m through my splits, I feel fine. But I’ve read everything about my body needing the recoup. My gym doesn’t open till eight on Sunday and we have church so Sundays are the day. It doesn’t necessarily fall on the fifth day of my splits but I feel like at least I’m taking a day off. I was just hoping someone out there had some science saying it was OK :-) .

I’m not good with balance. I just feel so good the days I’m in the gym. But I hear everyone loud and clear so I’ll just continue at least one day off
