+ 6 Compounds that can cause blood sugar drops/ hypoglycemic issues

ad

So I have been interested in this topic for a while, since I learned of it actually. The compounds that come to mind for me that I have felt this on and actually checked bloodsugar while on to confirm, are trenbolone( no surprise) superdrol, nandrolone( deca and PP ester) and dianabol. The tren and sdrol seemed to cause it the most, tren being the strongest culprit, sdrol second, and deca / dbol about even fpr 3rd.
It seems there is a result tied to a compunds anabolic power to how much it causes it. These 4 compounds are all very anabolic, but then again so is anavar as well as others that i have used and never had the hypo effects. I know there are many variables to cause this but this has been my experience. I think also it could have somthing to do with enhanced glycogen synthesis/ loading thats basically shutteling carbs out of blood stream and into liver/ muscle glycogen stores.
This could help explain the constant pump, looking very full at all times on these compounds. I know that is based on ones diet, but if one is eating adequate macros especially carbs, these compounds will all cause that effect to a point. Tren and sdrol are amazing when ran on a high carb/ simple carb diet. There is a science behind that to minimize fat gain, but it CAN be done with drastic results..but thats another topic. Lol
Basically I hope to hear anyones feedback on this subject that has experinced it, and what compounds they used that caused it ect... me personally have to take in 30 to 50g(at least) of carbs every 2 hrs to stay feeling ideal. Feel free to share on this topic as you wish.

The only thing that's ever made me feel hypo is IGF1-LR3. I literally had to eat every 2 hours like clock work I would get hit with hypo sides.

Hi guys. I know I am late to the party. I just want to add a few things I put in my gym bag. Maybe not just for you but maybe for a guy that may need it. I put a small glucose meter, easy and cheap on amazon. I also throw in pure glucose tabs from the pharmacy, they are pure glucose tabs and you pop them in your mouth dissolve and you have an instant raise. It could help you or a buddy. It has helped me when I trained really hard on strict keto before and felt myself getting serious faint. The boost you get is real and some guys believe that glucose post workout helps a body grow. Feel better. <3

Thanks for the reply! I used to do the same thing.. and the raspberry and grape ones taste amazing!! The sugar that those tabs, are made of is pure dextrose.. awesome for postworkout glycogen replacement as well as spiking the most anabolic hormone we have, insulin.. some of my friends thaught i was strange until they started training hard and had it happen to them!

I hate feeling hypo, I used to get this even before using gear. A very fast motabalism doesn't help.
Dbol is the worst culprit for me, hate the shakey feeling and being literally drenched in sweat.
I've often wondered what would happen if I didn't eat when it comes on and just sat their and let it play out but the fiend like urge to devour carbs is overwhelming, chocolate is usually the first thing I turn to.

Hi. I can tell you what happen, because I live with a diabetic person (type 1).
Normally for people who are in good health, there is a chance that it does not go too bad because of the action of glucagon and the reserves of glucose of the liver, even if it remains very unpleasant. But if it does not work (type 1 diabetics do not have a working pancreas, so no insulin, no glucagon) you will start delirious, have mental confusions, say things strange and meaningless and in fact you will be unable to make the right decision by yourself that is to feed you sugar quickly . In addition there is a danger that foods are swallowed the wrong way. Finally you will gradually sink to a coma state and if nothing is done, death. Hypoglycemia leave traces in the body, do not play with it. This tires the body unnecessarily, because even after the return of glucose it takes time to recover. If you are subject, always wear sugar with you, ideally equipped with a glucose meter, it is always better to prevent than cure.

Letting it take it's course isn't even comprehensible to me. Appreciate the reply, I asked my doctor about this a few years ago, described the symptoms and he just brushed it off as nothing to worry about....+2

I get this bullshit feeling too. Only on Tren and dbol. Shit will drop at work and I'll have to smash some honey buns or candy bars even if I just ate an hour ago with plenty of carbs. Usually only happens in the middle of the day for me. Got bloods check a couple of times to make sure I was diabetic and each time labs came back clear.

Apparently it seems that Methandienone (dbol) is exhausting glucose from the blood stream by, at least, two mechanisms, insulin resistance and resistance to glucagon. This will create a "condition" where you body has more circulating insulin than it usually needs to force the glucose to leave the blood stream into the cells and no ways to get more from your liver. I think this condition may persist probably for a while after Methandienone effect has ceased.

The later article is interesting because it also talks about the Nandrolone effect on glucose.

Nice! If you dug a little deeper you could be on to a beautiful little bit of research to share, across a few compounds. +

Are you hypoglycemic? A few people may experience a drop in sugar levels from various steroids, but to my knowledge its rare and mild! You should take a fasted glucose tolerance test!

professer X's picture

Seems only when on cycle or using certain compounds really aggravate it.. just on my normal 200mgs of test a week i have no issues with it at all....nor did I when I wasnt using AAS. I have always had a really fast metabolism and normally would need to snack every 3 hrs or so to feel ok but never actually felt the shakyness, weak kneed effects that i have while on cycle. Also, i have never used HGH or any peptides ect...... so its not because of any of that..

I have always a bit low blood sugar levels and when I use any oral I get this problems too, but not sure why I've this!

What works for me and actually has no negitive effect on body composition is to keep fast digesting carbs around. And if its been 2 to 3hrs or more since my last meal i will eat 20 to 40g of it. Fruit, dried or normal is great. Even fat free candy like sweet tarts or gummybears do the trick. Sweet tarts are my go to because the one sugar they are made of is dextrose.. hits your blood stream as quick as possible. Fyi that is the same sugar that tbey use in diabetic sugar tabs that they sell at the pharmacy. Dextrose has its uses in bodybuilding as well.. and if u need an anabolic insulin spike after a meal or training? Throw 30 to 60 g dextrose with your complex carbs and proteins and your body will do the rest.. I do that on heavy training days and even normal training days just not as much..

Seems interesting reading about hypo and liver disease, on page 319 they talk about methandienone :

I believe there are two reasons why hypoglycemic issues can occurs :

  1. The steroid has an indirect impact on glucose metabolism because it alters a biological parameter which can have an impact on glucose metabolism (ex. Tren and T3 ...).

  2. The steroid by the performance enhancement it provides (more resistance, endurance ...) will require more energy expense and put the body at risk faster if the stocks are not full enough.

XmadXscientist's picture

Mind providing evidence of this?

Steroids, especially nandrolone have mountains of scientific literature and data, don’t think I’ve come across anything supporting this theory.

The times ive tested it was first thing in the morning before eating or drinkin anything, and normally id be around 90 - 110 but ive been as low as 78 on tren in AM .
Usually its a 10 to 15 point drop that is noticable. . I have also been workin laying bricks in 95 degree heat plus humidity while on tren and 3 hrs after lunch i was 68 and shaking, threw up and went home that day drank 20 oz of apple juice and ate a bag of gummy worms and 90 min later i was wonderin why i went home early? .. So lesson learned was never go that long without eating, while on cycle. and especially not while working highly strenuous jobs.
Other times id be 5 to 8 pouints lower and feel shaky, weakness, blurry visiin ect....
I have been checked fpr diabetes and im good there. I have a super high metabolism that coupled with these drugs cause my body to burn thru sugars faster than normal i feel.

Never had any AAS cause hypoglycemic issues. Any issues I have ever encountered have had to do with diet combined with training and not due to any AAS.

giardap's picture

I have reactive hypoglycaemia. Anything that drops my blood sugar impacts me relatively severely, but it is insulin mediated or insulin-like mediated, directly in the blood.

I have used tren left right and center, never experienced an insulin or insulin like effect. I have used tren while also measuring my blood glucose levels... not a blip. I have even used tren on keto.
Now I am aware people say tren does this and there are forums across the internet claiming tren does it so we cant ignore the stories. I think it is likely that there are cascade effects started by tren that can lead some to a hypo state. Raised metabolism, lowered cortisol, raised igf1, raised igf from HIT weights, lowered blood oxygen levels etc. But I would wonder if these cascade effects hit those with impaired insulin sensitivity or damaged beta cells (which multiply effects by keeping producing endogenous insulin).

IGF Lr3 puts me into an instant hypoglycemic state if my blood sugar levels are not elevated.

professer X's picture

Another factor causing these side effects could be the small increase in igf 1 from these compounds. Tren is known for inceasing that more than alot of others so maybe there is a correlation. Any experts please chime in....

This topic was not talking about the ONE obvious compound that does this, that we dont discuss on here, it was refering to AAS compounds only... disclaimer...lol
