+ 1 High RBC Count

ad

Hi all, I'm new here and would like to run this by the uh...more experienced players. As a result of AAS use I have a VERY high red blood cell count. My doctor likes me to donate on a regular basis to keep the count down as best I can. Unfortunately, the local blood bank changed procedures and actually measures RBC. They are concerned that I have other health problems, I don't. But as a cautionary measure they no longer want to take my blood.

I hope what I'm asking here isn't over the top for any of you but would anyone have suggestions such as self phlebotomy? With my RBC I could probably stand to "donate" a pint every 5 weeks I figure. Suggestions on how this can be accomplished? Do you know of anyone who had done this? Would prefer to avoid leeches (kidding). Perhaps a phlebotomist willing to work on the side???

If you have a nurse friend it can be done free and e IV easy. All they need is an IV start kit, secondary tubing, and a 250ml bag of IV fluids.
Spike the bag with tubing and empty it, Start the IV, connect tubing to IV and clamp once the bag is full of blood. Done!
Remember to remind them to get SECONDARY tubing. Primary tubing has a no back flow valve.

Yes A Dr. can prescribe that. But most likely would have to go to an off site lab or hospital. Not likely done in the office.

Typically will send you to a phlebotomy lab for the draw.

i see its an older thread but........ where you donating while on your cycle??, i believe your rbc levels will decrease after your off, . but what about donating plasma?? they seperate the plasma from your rbc's!!

HRT is constant so HCT/ RBCs will remain the same, ( Chronically High) this increases chances for stroke, heart attack and high blood pressure. The blood "thick". Giving plasma is the opposite of what he wants to do. That increases the % of RBCs and makes the blood thicker. He wants to get rid of the RBCs. Once your HCT gets around 55% your in the danger zone.

What is your levels?

One idea, find where the blood van/bus is, they usually don't ask near as many questions. Also, I've been told even you answer some questions in the wrong manner, they'll still take your blood to avoid any personal embarrassment/giving out personal medical info.

I'm in the same boat. I'm at 51%. Need to go give blood soon.

I have a disease called leiden factor five which raises rbc. You might wanna get tested for that. Its not something that will just show up on your physicals or anything like that. It has to be specifically sent to a certain lab that screens for it. I have family members that are on blood thinners, but as of now the doc told me to take half asperin every day. Many in my family may have avoided death had they known of this.

may also want to check for Gilberts Syndrome. You would never know you have it and it doesn't really have any symptoms (aside from raising your RBC) Its genetic and only 3% of the population have it. Its GREAT when lifting natty cuz it like natty blood doping but need to keep an eye on it while juicing

That's cool I'll def have that checked also. I take it its also one of those diseases that specifically has to be tested for. There's times on dbol where my hands feel heavy with blood. I used to read a lot in muscular developement and the anabolic doc was always on a rant about heavy blood.

Honestly u could probably do it yourself but I have a question, why is it bad to have high rbc? I always figured it was good because more rbc = more oxygen , or so I thought. But does high rbc relate to high blood pressure ?

norcuron's picture

True, But your at increased risk of Strokes, DVTs, Heart attack, pulmonary embolism, high blood pressure, and other things. for the duration of HRT if you don't thin it all out a bit. High Test signals Epo. from the kidneys and that triggers bone marrow to make more RBCs.

Excellent suggestions thank-you. Actually, they WILL let me keep donating with a note from my doc, but she (I love it that I have a woman) can't spill the beans about use of UGL AAS, or I am precluded. We'll see. And by the way, your response regarding the blood pressure is correct. Although in my case the RBC count is off the charts. My blood actually gets thick. Always wanted to scuba dive and the compression at depth would be problematic too. Sigh, when it comes to a choice, once again driving iron wins! ;-)

OLD post but I agree. Was in full dive gear with knife and spear. Little angry bluegill came and got 3 inches from my mask and glared at me. Scared to piss out of me and I quit! Lol

I didnt even make it to the big fish! Went from pretty coral reef and colorful cute fish to dark green abiss that dropped to infinity, turned around and my diving career was OVER!
