+ 7 Getting bigger and blood pressure
I am wondering that as you have gotten bigger throughout your cycling career have you noticed an increase in your bloodpressure? What I have noticed over the past couple of years is that as my weight increases my BP seems to follow correspondly. When I was 170lbs or less my BP was always like 120/70. Added on 10 or so lbs and now I am 125/74. Ten more pounds and now I am 135/75. Up to 200lbs and now I am over 140/70. Now 210 lbs a few years later my BP is sitting around 150/85. Lot of factors could be playing into this I know, but it just seems to coincidental that my BP seems to be following my weight. My diet has always been good and not changed much, except for the amount of food. Always excercising. Maybe just a fact of getting older, I don't know. Whether on or off cycle my BP always stayed elevated as my weight changed. Finally had to be put on some amlodipine the other day by doc so hopefully that brings it back down. So just really curious if this is happening to others. Also just a general suggestion here is to make sure you are keeping track of your BP.

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was is that is known that increased fat mass requires more oxygen. It is possible that increased muscle mass would also have the same effect. A quick search in google scholar didn't show any studies on this.
Gothcha. I think there has to be some correlation there, what is really surprising is how much of jump it has taking with the increase in weight.
Like you said age has an effect too. Pliability of the arteries decreases:

Age + weight = perfect storm brewing for BP
Your right on here. The older I’ve gotten, the higher my bp has gotten, regardless of exercise and the like. I’m on bp Meds now and it’s in normal levels.
Yes, I found this to be true. For my height, 175 lbs would be the highest threshold for “normal,” healthy weight. Obviously I’m a lot heavier than that, regardless of body composition. I know full well if I want to be significantly bigger than most people my height that there’s a price to pay. There are drawbacks to gaining muscle.
Yeah it is actually not very comfortable carrying around this much weight. Every 5lbs feels like twenty. When my quest is done within the next couple of years I'm going to drop back down to around 185 or so and just ride out my trt and be done cycling. That seemed to be the weight where I felt most comfortable but I still had elevated bp at that weight also.
My bp goes up with weight and dianabol. At 240 was taking bp med daily. 220 225 now and it's fine. Monitor and take the bp meds. The heavier you weigh the harder your blood needs to circulate so increase in bp. Be safe and monitor it. Most people never check so they don't even know. Your bp is suppose to go down when gets used to your weight but not sure if that happens in reality or not. Better safe than cva or heart attack
I could be putting weight on to quickly and my heart just isn't catching up. Hopefully things normalize but I am still gaining so that might not be for a bit.
Yep it takes time. Just be safe buddy. Check it daily, don't forget your amlodipine it's a old drug and works great. Enteric coated baby aspirin after breakfast will keep your blood a bit Thinner and at our age we do not want thick blood.
I have been donating blood fairly regularly now and that has helped with my rbc and hemo but doesn't seem to be doing much for my bp unfortunately.
You take baby aspirin? If I didn't have ulcerative colitis I probably would take a low dose every day myself even with good blood pressure.
No I don't. Something I could possibly add. I'll look into after my next appt. Don't want to add to much stuff and throw more variables into the equation until I see how my bp meds are working.
Let me know if your amlodipine isn't working.
I have a follow up in 3 wks. Taking daily readings for the doc until then. He wanted to start me out taking baby steps and apparently this is the med for that.
Ok good. Doc will increase it until it is in safe zone. Let us know how things go
As I grew and put on mass I've been guilty of running higher and bigger stacks which made my BP sky rocket. I'm a lot more conservative with my gear usage now a days and my BP is under control. I know you run moderate blasts but I wanted to add my part.
The funny thing is I would expect my bp rise a bit on cycle, but it stays elevated after cycle is over. Have to drop Adrol for now since that is really the only thing that seems to elevate it for me. Shame, cause that is my favorite oral but definitely not worth stroking out over.
I have noticed the same thing with my blood pressure brother. I also have noticed that my prostate is affected more & so is my breathing. I would get up 3-4 times a night to urinate until I started taking a supplement for my prostate. I take hawthorn berry for the blood pressure & it helps. I haven’t found anything that helps the breathing though. I just came off tren e, & I had a harder time breathing on it this time than ever! I believe with age everyone should be more vigilant to protect our health regardless of prior problems. IMP, these things are contributed to my age. Seems after 40 a lot of things began to change.
Seems like it all goes downhill after 40. I ended up on trt, bp is messed up, metabolism went to shit. I hate to imagine what kind of wreck I would be if I didn't go to the gym.
No doubt brother!! I know I’d be in much worse shape without the gym.
