Testosterone and surgery

ad

Has anyone had a fairly significant surgery and been on testosterone? I have a big surgery coming up and I am being told I need to come complety off all testosterone or they will cancel my surgery bec of the risk of blood clots from the hormone . Problem is I have hypogonadism and use test as replacement therapy . When I come completely off , my test gets so low in my body that I get very sick, feel awful , can’t even get out of bed . As soon as they heard my test isn’t prescribed anymore through a doctor it’s like they didn’t want to hear anything I had to say about getting sick . Has anyone else had to deal with this issue in the past and how did you do it and make out ?

No major surgery... just went thru the 2 incision bicep repair 3 weeks ago and haven't missed a shot. They asked but that was it. Loaded me up with a iv, knocked me out for a few hours, cut me up and then sent me home. Just said take a asprin in am and pm to help avoid clots...

Just come off, do the surgery, recover, and go back on. If its a significant surgery why would you even chance it? Can't do AAS if you're dead.

I’ve dealt with it Bro after many surgeries.... I’m a disabled vet so I had to go through the VA hospital too :/ hahaha
I came off & did what I had to do & it wasn’t always easy but it was worth it

Really bro you can't come off completely for surgery? That's just lame man, grow a pair and come off. Your gains aren't worth even the smallest percentage of a risk. I been on trt for a long time and guess what I have came completely off quite a bit. I know it's a shock but I've managed to keep my gains.

It’s not about my gains , I came completely off a while back when my wife and I went to see a fertility doctor . After about a week - week and a half I was so sick I didn’t even have the strength to get out of bed , my head felt like I was sucking on a nitrous ballon. I guess once all the test left my system my body just crashed with no test in it since my body doesn’t make it anymore . That’s what I was worried about , feeling that way before I go into surgery or while I am trying to recover. However saw a hepatologist and they are taking 2 bags of blood from me so hopefully that solves the problem .

I'm on TRT and have had a couple of surgeries during that time. Surprisingly, I'm still alive!
I do think that being on a higher cycle dose may be a different story potentially, but if you're running bloods regurally, you should be okay. Lowering your dose to a trt level and knowing your numbers, would be a wise idea before surgery.

A surgeon's expertise isn't hormones consult a endocrinologist.

@eastcoastmuscle

Sir, with all the respect to your knowledge and experience, you would need to follow doctors instructions. We get so much pulled in to this sport and have this competitive mindset that it becomes priority in life and we completely forget about general heath. From doctors perspective, to avoid any potential problems, your body needs to be in it's natural state - homeostasis to avoid any risks. My opinion may differ from others but I think there's nothing more important than your health.

Yes they are taking 2 bags of blood from me to lower my RBC before surgery so hopefully with that and me cutting my dose extra low everything should be fine .

^^ how do you get the yellow in your response?? I’ve tried over & over LOL

Don't take this as advice but I was on 600mg test when my spleen ruptured it was emergency surgery and I had a i.v in my leg and both arms just for blood clots obviously I'm not dead but probably would have been better if i wasn't on test just come off for surgery my man better to fell like shit for a bit then forever

Appreciate you sharing your experience

Would you be able to reup the script? It sounds like they were ok with it as long as it was doctor prescribed?
Or go with short esters and drop them a few days before the surgery...

No at this point they are telling me come off completely or cancel surgery . I’m just curious if anyone here has gone through with surgery and stayed on test , even if it was cut back to a real Small dose , esp the guys on TRT like myself .
