Karma for gear pics

ad

Just noticed there are no thumbs up or down on gear pics. Is this new or is it just a glitch. If it is new it's a great move. If it's a glitch maybe it should stay this way. Anyways your thought ladies and gentlemen.

giardap's picture

This is a good change
Hopefully it will also filter across and dilute the amount of nonsense reviews too

I have earned next to none of my karma from gear pics hell yeah thats an awesome idea no karma for gear pics will keep alot of the mooks out YES!!!!!

DfromPhilly's picture

That's awesome. I've said before the only gear pics that should get karma are the ones that point out a fake and educate users on what to look for. That actually helps the community. "Hey guys, Look what I bought" shouldn't get karma.

It's a shame for the people that post helpful gear shots like that, but I like the move overall since we clearly couldn't self govern it.

Theophany's picture

Great news that is indicative of eroids foward progression! I recall Nitti berating a member for posting the same gear pics over and over, just in different scenarios! And this was just one member a few years back!
Like many things in life, what started off as a good thing, has become corrupted by scam artists!
Kudos to administration for evolving and moving forward!

IrishMack's picture

I approve this message..... Only after I post 25 pics in a row of someone elses gear shots.

Oh wait, I mean self shots.

SenseiMiagi's picture

Good. Receiving gear shouldnt be an indicator of ones knowledge or contributions.

This is good.

I've seen members get the boot (from a long standing avatar/name and high level of karma) and then return within a week and have over a 100+ karma.

Clearly there were no "brilliant ideas/topics" shared that would offer such an occurrence seeing as how long it "now" takes to build up karma when we look at some of the high volume numbers of several on here.

What does seem clear is that those who know each other, help each other to build karma at a particular pace even when a member is booted for whatever reason.

Having the ability to build karma off of pics be it gear or progression is likely the only option for many of the new people joining. Did everyone consider that?

If those with far less experience don't have much to say/share because they came here to learn then it will be years before many of them reach a particular number to be able to even "share karma" which is also how one obtains more.

Quid pro Quo or "rules of reciprocity" are not something many are specifically requesting but based on human nature they are unspoken natural rules that are widely accepted consciously and especially subconsciously.

I'm appreciative of the karma concept on here but not to the point of where I am going to regurgitate similar info already posted with a mix of my own flair to obtain more karma.

Although I have decades of experience there are also many on here with the same or those with less years but plenty of experiential knowledge who are sharing quite a bit of info. Not saying there is nothing new being shared but there is a substantial amount of info already available and much is now being repeated from thread to thread.

That or taboo topics where plenty can be shared but isn't based on the concerns (legitimate for the most part) of those particular taboo subject matter and thus, yet another avenue closed for deserved karma collection.

As for pics, we also have insight that posting gear pics is actually not as good as we hoped, neither for the poster or the manufacturer based on what can be done with as recently shared on this topic.

As much as I enjoy seeing them I too see the benefit of this being minimized

When we then consider how some are treated when they post progress pics (since no one is changing as dramatically as some would prefer before posting more) the option again for those with much less experience (and the very reason they are here) their hopes of reaching decent karma levels are pretty much next to nil.

With how quickly someone can loose karma whether by an innocent mistake (happens often) of by a small offense that does not require wiping them out, it would actually seem logical to start everyone at a set amount of karma to begin with.

What better way to show appreciation for a new member joining then to start them and the board off on the right foot by passing some along!

Just my $1.50 on the topic.

You're new so let me lay some history on you.

Rules evolve and are basically a result of member conversations in the forums over many days but usually over a period of weeks and months. How long have you been listening to the karma whoring via posted pics. . What started out as a good idea became a problem. Conversation took place, changes were made. You see wide support as a result. This has gone on since day one.

Karma was also easier to get starting off with a new account, however, we are no longer a small group of people active in the forums. There is a very large, mostly unnoticed group doing there own thing. Some of whom started gaming the system, irreputable sources creating fake accounts to promote themselves and to slander other sources, as well as boost their karma to get access to promos.

When those abuses became a problem we deliberately made it more difficult for a new member to post reviews, gain karma, etc. This forces members to stick around and become active to be able to benefit from whatever value karma has for them. We want active members.

When I joined this board back in 2011, I didn't know shit about AAS. I knew something about diet, meals, weight loss, and how to investigate a source to see if their legit etc. I observed, participated, shared my mistakes and lessons without parroting. I probably only earned an average of 20 karma per year during my first years.

Short answer, yes, we are quite aware that karma will be more difficult to get; that is by design. The result will be more appreciation for karma, and valued members who are here primarily to learn, teach, share, and not for karma. Eroids when used correctly, has set the bar and leveled the playing field when it comes to how sources promote themselves and act.

Last point, we don't dictate to sources how to run their promos or discounts. If finding new customers become a problem because of their karma standards, they'll lower those restrictions.

This is a standard I'd like to see adopted when it comes to posting gear pics.

  • Is there a question of a counterfeit? Post it.
  • Is there something wrong with the gear, a contaminant, bad color, shoddy, unsterile? Post it.
  • New lab or source? Post it
  • Pic of your entire stash of 80 vials and a gun? Don't post it.
  • Pic that looks like 100 other pics from the same lab or source? Don't post it.

I did not read all of this.

If you actuall think ppl who know each other bump each other to help gain points you are wrong.

Its called karma whoring and you get fucked for it either banned or stripped.

Type in blue magnify glass karma whoring and go have a look how many ppl have been fucked for it.

If ppl try they get busted.

    Simple.

All karma bumps up or down are recorded and can be checked.

It has and may occasionally still happen but they get caught every time.

Ppl still after all these years think there is conspiracys lol.

You have made 370 comments, click on ppls profiles who have higher karma and check comment count i beleive im between 4-5 thousand.

I remember rusty had over 10 thousand.

Your obviously butt hurt that your dont have high karma?

Your a big dude that obviously has vast experience in this life style.

Your butthurt because you feel self entitled for more karma.

" im bigger than half these cunts on here why dont i have hundreds of karma! "

No one gets special treatment and no one gets points for nothing, how ever regular members know other regular members and see how and what people contribute to the site- its called eroids street cred, you earn it by helping/ commenting/ discussing and contributing on the site, once you have done this a while and gain the trust and respect of your peers through those avenues, your points will only go up.

    Stop whinging.

    No Flash.

If you read what I had to say about karma it is that I can appreciate the concept however I am indifferent about it.

I really don't concern myself with how high mine may get but do appreciate the perceived value it holds.

Considering the large majority of people on here don't post pics or haven't done so in likely years I am well aware that "looking the part" in relation to ones karma is likely low.

I've seen a few on here who are in excellent shape...but it is rare and not all of them have the kind of karma you do.

I'm not new to this industry by any means and was making my point in relation to those that ARE completely new to the industry who come here with the hopes of being productive members.

Anyway, considering you and others prefer to skim through and not get all that in before commenting etc. I suppose I will just do as I have for the past several years on here.

Just read, absorb what is useful and compliment those who actually put pics up (this is more recent to this year) and spend only the time needed to do so.

    All good.

your false presumption in quotations was kinda funny...give you a couple points on that if I could ;)

    exoticnfit's picture

    love to Rusty.

But every time I make a comment with the intent of "thinking of others on here" especially those who are NEW to the industry much less eroids...I get trashed talked.

Most don't read the whole thing to see I was not concerned about my own karma (very indifferent since karma ain't gonna help you in the gym) and was more concerned of how a NEW person to the industry who comes here can get things going!!!

Also...any time I post a pic I get someone who is making comments that I am merely karma whoring. Seriously, why have the option if when you post people jump right to that. Even when I literally post NO KARMA needed

    Greg's picture

I read it all, and I hope I've answered most of your questions. Some of your complaint, (most of it actually), is because you don't have a historical reference to base your bias. And some is because you enjoy being a little contrarian ;-)

Last point first. Now you don't have to worry about comments that you are karma whoring... post away.
Caveat, posting gear pics just for the sake of posting does not benefit the site, and I don't care how the sources feel.

It's not that members are unwelcoming, or unwilling to help out. check the intro page, members are welcoming others and "passing some along" as you put it by reminding them to read the rules.

We all can get a little jaded seeing the same "stupid" post over and over. But, those same jaded individuals will guide others with info and experiance that could cost you a pretty penny if you were fortunate enough to get to talk to them face to face.

Because this thread is about the gear pics I didn't get into your taboo comment. The open forum is searchable by google. The last thing we want is for "citizens" to google a payment method and be brought here. Likewise, as you've acknowledged, kids and novices google steroids and find there way here.

We do not want to be like the other sites that promote unsafe practices. We don't want kids/novices reading advanced cycles pros are discussing and then emulating them. More than karma, we value safety.

But, we haven't overlooked your point about taboo topics as you can see here.
    https://www.eroids.com/og/adavanced-cycles-and-taboo-subjects

    fusebox's picture

Imagine how many comments you'd have if you weren't banned all the time before. Lol. Sorry flash I had to do it. But you are exactly right. You are posting in the forum all the time. I've never even heard of this twig before this long winded comment I do not have time to read.

    TheFlash85's picture

And if i didnt delete all my posts because of trolls.

    Banned twice yes.
But that doesnt change my contributions, more than most who havent been banned.

One forum you can't even pm a source or comment on sources si until you have at least 50 comments.
Good idea with all the issues lately

    helloBrooklyn's picture

That might not be ideal. I remember when I joined up it was because I had a specific issue with a specific source. I wouldn't have had a voice if I didn't have the opportunity to contact the source through something other than email (which wasn't being responded to). And I ended up digging the community and started contributing the best I could, and here I am to this day, although that was far from my intention when I first joined.
