drinking protein slowly?
ad
I was told "why do you drink your shakes so fast, do you eat food that fast. Of course not, you get sick."
Anyone take their time sipping on their protein shakes?

Most of my shakes are done with frozen berrys, ice, etc., so downing them quickly only leads to a cold headache.
I really don't think the speed in which you consume your protein shakes makes any significant difference in absorption rates.
I down mine... not sure why anyone would wanna sip on it. I have also moved on from more then two shakes a day, once upon waking and one in the shower at the gym after workout. My workout is over before 9am, and at that point im 70g deep. Then lunch by 1130. I can't imagine sipping, my body is usually craving it, so yea...
backonroidsI down mine fast , surely it will still absorb the same amount of protein .. that's like saying if you eat a Big Mac faster you will absorb less fat.
If I down mine fast I will have diarrhea just after downing it but if I drink it over a 20 minute period I'm all good.
No no lol.
He meant to feel better
backonroidsWas meant to reply to Faz below haha
I was told to drink it slowly to allow your body to absorb more of the protein.
I've no science to back it up though.

So you neg me for giving my opinion? I didn't say it was a fact. I just said that's what I was told.
Surely posts like this are meant for us to share opinions?
backonroidsI didn't neg you ....
Why the hell would I -1 someone in a discussion of protein ? Lol Someones negged you but it isn't me haha
Sorry for the accusation then mate, just assumed it was you because you replied.
There are some bitches on this site that think karma actually means something! Oh well haha
Um.
I did accidentally hit thumbs down rather than up on a comment of yours.
I fixed it. Did I neg you? oops. sorry
Haha no problem, thanks for fixing it.
This was a good forum topic, I did a bit of researching earlier and found this website...
http://www.precisionnutrition.com/whey-vs-casein
Ignore the title, halfway down the article is a study on the absorption of drinking protein slow and fast
Wow I literally just let read this and you reasoned a week ago. I didn't see it lol.
Red.1979we must slowly drink and to slowly eat, is a rule for the organism
Organism, are you a reincarnated grasshopper? Wtf...
I take it you weren't a biology major?
WTF does that mean?
Huh
If you have stomach issues and eat too fast, you wanna puke. At least I do...
The same goes for drinking too much water at once.
Bro Science. Just drink it the way you want to. If it tastes good enjoy it. I just drink it down, takes a few seconds, so I don't have it standing around and only taking a sip every few minutes that it takes me 5 mins for one shake if you mean that.
I make my shakes and slam it that way I can wash everything
Not since I switched to cheap protien. When I used to buy a more expensive brand flavored like chocolate malt I took my time and enjoyed it. Since I switched to whatever is cheap at walmart I just get it over with. I do like making pudding out of my cheap casein. Makes it more tolerable I think.
Just a heads up, many of those Walmart proteins are notorious for containing heavy metals and amino spiking.
Really?!?! I didnt know that. Im going to have to look into this more. I should have known better. For the longest time I used a very highly rated companies whey but somewhere along the way I decided to save a few bucks. Thanks for the heads up!
Some guys here turned me into an online only brand called Myprotein impact whey. Trust me, I never schill for the supp industry, but their products are actually really high quality for a great price. Been using them exclusively for all my supplements. Their pumpkin pie flavor is the tastiest shake I've ever had, hands down.
6 Star is garbage.
backonroidsI used to use Myprotein. Until they kept going under investigation for claiming more grams of Protein etc in their products . Claiming 25 grams but only containing like 10 g. This was about a year or two ago so maybe they are okay again
Bulkpoweders is good but maybe uk only

It seems they were independently tested a year ago and passed. I have not heard this
Yup. I'm well aware it is garbage. Ive done my homework on everything else Ive taken but never protien powders didnt get on my radar somehow. I just switched because I figured I got what I needed and saved a buck. I will check out Myprotein for sure.
Thanks!!
Look up MAN SPORTS, they are a game changer for the next level of supplementation. Their all about honesty and providing no bs... and their taste is amazing. Their website is higher then muscle and strength, ssssssshhhhheck it out broski!
Next level of price, too. $55 for 30 servings of iso? I'd love to try it, but that's too rich for this hood rat's blood right now.
You gotta get that side hustle... it's cheaper on muscle and strength I believe. The dorks flavor is gaaaareat. Taste just like nerds candy.
Supplements aren't obligatory but after many years of being involved in the supplement industry, ive realized you get whatvyou pay for. If you're going to skimp on a cheap.product, your money is just better spent on food.
I totally agree, you get what you pay for. I was not aware of the heavy metal issue in these products. I was using optimum nutrition but switched to 6 star because of it being about half the price. I found several articles concerning this subject. But could not find anything more recent than a few years old. 6 star actually tested better (less contaminants) than ON. Some of the others tested of which several are at Walmart were vwry high in Cadmium and Arsenic which is pretty alarming. One article states this is not so much the case with products sourced within the US. They were pointing to China where health regs are a little more lax. So a question to you would be. As you were involved in the supplement industry and know about these metals in the products does this make sense? Does the fact that some ingredients may come from overseas correlate with the higher toxins?
I find this pretty disturbing actually, I read and hear so much about bodaybuilders and the like having kidney issue and passing away very young. Who knows? Could things like this play into kidney failure? Years of taking sups loaded with toxins building up in the kidneys on top of everything else we tax our bodies with. I hear people on this site particularly guys like you that seem to have been around awhile talking about getting all our nutrients from foods only. Doesnt sound too bad after this. Thanks again!
Here is one of the articles if anyone wants a read.

Red.1979I use Scitec, it is a tall middle product. Caseina and Isolated Proteins, very good
Didnt they sponsor Dave Palumbo before Yamamoto? I know Ive heard that name before. I will check them out, thanks.
I was always told with protein powder the faster you drink it the faster it starts working.
But sip your intra bcaas
