+ 1 ALCOHOL SWABS & CLEAN STERILE NEEDLES ALWAYS!!!

ad

i always use fresh alcohol swabs, always use new needles. and NEVER EVER RE-USE A NEEDLE..Pins are not expensive,,Never take the chance of getting an infection.

1) I wash my hands with hot water and anti bacterial soap

2) Swab the top of vial with alcohol swab, let dry.

3) Draw with A sterile 22 Gage spike

4)Back fill into a 29 gage .5 inch slin pin.

5) Wipe area of injection site and let dry.

6)Inject slow into clean injection site.

7) Alcohol swab yet again after injection is complete.

I Dont touch the needle with my fingers or against anything.. and NEVER touch the site your about to inject.

Infections and abceses are not a joke..Always take your time while prepping for your injection..

I like to lick the needle before injection, for lubrication purposes. You're welcome for the tip!

Seriously, I'm glad you mentioned letting the alcohol DRY before injecting. It's the drying that kills the germs.

You can do all the above perfectly, and still get what is called a sterile absess. Sterile absesses are from either injecting too much in one spot, or from injecting in the same spot within days, or from aggravating the muscle you injected into. I had a sterile absess from injecting the same spot because I lost count, and I got one from training the muscle group after injecting it earlier in the day. The doctor drained the one I over injected and the other one dissolved itself with lots of heat applied every day for a week.

I actually have liked to do this. Especially if pinning quads which tend to give me pip sometimes. Pin quads and do leg workout and no pip. I never pin more than 2ml at a time though, so I wonder if this has more to with the volume or do you think pinning and training that muscle is a bad idea.

It was my delt, I was doing upright cable rows and felt my muscle "pop." I only did a cc as well. After 2 days it looked like a golfball grew out of my shoulder. I called my endo and told him what happened and made an appointment for the next day. He asked what I did and after telling him he told me heat and ibuprofen and amoxicillan for a few days to see if it would go down and if not he would drain it. It became a sterile absess when I aggravated the depot from the muscle movement. I was told not to train that muscle group for at least 3 days after injection. It went away but it took almost 2 weeks to completely dissolve. I now follow the advice by injecting my shoulder(s) after I trained them (a few hours later)

That is interesting. I wonder if it has something to do with the delt being a smaller muscle than say glutes or quads?

Very well could be, thats another reason I never do more then 1.5cc in my delts. My shoulders are also very lean so I use 1" and go straight in the center. The glute and the quad are bigger muscle groups so they can handle more. I never had an issue with my quads even when injecting 3cc in the outer area. I also trained them afterwards and only had a lot of pip after but no swelling.

why do you back fill and inject with a 29g .5in?

I assume because it would take for-ev-er to draw with a 29g
