+ 2 Be strong minded....
What's up all?
First of all I would like to thank the troops and former vets for serving in the military. Happy Memorial Day weekend.
I have been hitting the gym pretty strong lately and A LOT of people are asking me, " how I do it." The answer I want to give them is long and might come off wrong. But instead I just laugh and say, you have to be strong minded and want it bad enough. The mind is a very powerful thing. If you want to lose weight, gain muscle, bulk, cut etc. you need to do your research. There are plenty of resources out here to help your goals. I have been doing a new diet and excercise program. Some may laugh, because it is from men's health, but after two weeks I can feel a huge difference.
I am pasting the reference for those of you that may want to try it. I hope this helps people to reach their goals. Use your mind and be smart.
This is from 11 years ago, but here it is

JohnnyMac010Couldn't agree more. Paraphrasing Arnold here, but "When you mind is screaming for you to stop, and the last few reps seem impossible, this is where the magic happens." Terrible paraphrase, but you get the point. Without a strong mind, you'll give up too soon.
Read this somewhere else, but your mind is like your cheerleader, its all happy and cheering until shit gets tough, then it wants to quit. But your body can keep going, you just need to break through that pain barrier!
Lift hard, lift heavy.
Agree!!
Where is a lot of reaserch done about mind power. If you practice lifting motion in your had before you lift, it warms up your nerve system and helps you to succeed. Mind power is a strongest tool we have.
Great post
Yep I agree and that goes for anything in life as well. You have to want it bad enough and not just want what some one else has.
I believe in the mind and muscle connection 100% if you can focus and get that down you will be blown away. To many people I see in gym try to lift to much weight for the body part there working and then it becomes sloppy form and use what ever muscles you can to lift the weight but there not power lifters. Good post bro.
Completely agreed bro! Lifting more weight than you can handle and not getting the correct form ruins your gains and you'll eventually wind up injuring yourself badly.. Thanks bro!
I agree. I mostly do constant tension as well anymore and try to get my mind dialed in.
JohnnyMac010I see this way too often. I have a guy in one of the gyms i go to. He's probably 55 or 60 years old, he's in there everyday i am, lifting extremely heavy. Every machine he uses, he maxes it out, ego lifting the whole way through. He goes so heavy to the point that his motions dont even imitate the actual exercise. Needless to say, he is going to get seriously injured before he sees any gains.
Since January I've seen this guy, and he looks exactly the same as he did then...
Well maybe try to help him out, I said try which he might not want it but at least you tried before he gets hurt. I see this all the time as well in the gym and some where down the road they get hurt mostly get a pulled muscules.
JohnnyMac010I agree, and I only help people unless I see them doing something dangerous. With the stigma of the guys in the gym always offering unwanted advice, it's very rare that I help people I don;t know unless they're going to hurt themselves. Especially as a young gun. I've approached this guy once and he completely ignored me. He acted like I wasn't even there. Unfortunately for him, no one else has ever approached him, and I wouldn;t be surprised if i was the last.
Well you tried bro, other than that let him do what he is. I take advice all the time as well and intrusive to give if there willing to listen to me if not so be it.
Right in bro.
JohnnyMac010In my morning gym i mostly stick to myself. It's in the big city downtown with all the snooty's (I'm from a relatively small town). Just based on the looks I get and the demographic, I just don't want to speak with anyone.
My afternoon gym is different. It's in my hometown and people are much more friendly. I open myself up there alot more because I'm also open to advice while I lift.
Right on, they stare at me at my gym and I done like it I guess its just me I work my ass off as well but Idk that's just not me. I stick to myself as well and get what I need done that day. I will always help if asked and pass what knowledge I have foward.
bigmurphLike you said thanks to all that have served and protected this country that I love. With that being said its 100% true if you set your mind to anything and really believe it then you can achieve it.
+1 your mind is the most powerful part of your body.
RustyhookerMind and body connection. Any winning athelete has that going for them. And its a learned experience, so everyone has the potential fir expansion in any area. +2
Definitely agreed bro! Thanks for the reply
