+ 3 What does a review site mean to you? What does a Promo Mean to you?
To me, a review site means that we are encouraged to leave reviews based on our experience. It is a great way to get a feel for product and services. Sites like yelp, angie's list, and yes, even eRoids.
To me, a promo is a way for someone to get their product in front of me. Offering discounts or like handing out samples at the supermarket, "Wow, I didn't know Jimmy Deans was so good -gotta get me some and write a yelp review." The product speaks for itself. Jimmy Dean isn't offering me a case of sausage for a good yelp review.
So what do you think of a source who sends out PM's such as this? What about those who take him up on the offer?

Kind of stupid really. If I can't trust a review site to be nothing more than a commercial I'll stop going there. Then where would the source be?

I think if the source is willing to offer a sample enough to run a cycle then run and be honest. I've been around here a long time and if I have trouble with a source or their gear I will most def be rating on exactly my experience.

But cj I agree its truth here we putting shit in our bodies that could kill you hence the NY based lab with bacteria in vials that killed people. In the game, and industry THERES NOT ALOT OF HONESTY.
AnonA review site should be a place where one can and will speak up on their experiences TRUTHFULLY. Whether it's good or bad. If the person doesn't then why be apart of the community board or try the products. The person owes it themselves to review. Why? You took the gamble with the source, invested the time, injected or swallowed the product, watched or felt your body change for the good or bad, and paid for the product. So post up on it!
A promo like Greg said is I believe a good way to get your product out there to be seen or tried. Now that being said sources who constantly run promos make you wonder. Are they not confident in their product or service? Are they wanting to move up the ranks that bad? Some great sources have ran maybe a couple promos and not a single more. Hell even some have ran none. Why? You bought, paid, and got MORE than what was expected. So their product spoke more than you thought it would.
Being in the top ten is huge advertising for the sources in and of itself. That is a major reason why they push for reviews and run promos.

I've tried a few brands of sausage. Some weren't bad at all. Some were all oily but not much substance. I found one I liked and quit sausage shopping.
Eroids should be looked upon like Yelp. If you're satisfied, speak up. And if not speak up. I've never left a positive review I didn't fully mean. Early on in my time here, I did have some negative things to say about a source. But I saw how well that worked out for the low karma members and the fan boys defending them. So I just decided to move on and look elsewhere. Looking back, I should've spoke up, and I would without hesitation today. The end result, at least at that time, would have been no different though. There would have been flamings and bashings, and the only thing that would have suffered would have been my credibility for giving an honest review.
I'm straying from the subject at hand though. Getting back on subject, a good source doesn't have to beg for reviews. A good promo may or may not get their product the exposure they desire. Some people just love the free or discounted shit. But if they're consistently a good source, they'll gain recognition for it and develop a steady flow of customer.
And if as a customer, you're out there dropping great reviews just because you got a discount or some free shit, you may be part of the problem. If you got ten free 10 mg dbol and you're dropping all tens on a sources review, I don't see how you can honestly say you experienced anything from that source.

Well if it's 50% off gear best believe I'm in on it. But if I get shit gear I will write a review of how shitty it is. If it's good we'll which most times it is. I will write a good review on it. I don't order from promos that are shit gear I've been on here to know what is what and who is who and what gear is what. We all know comp prep cost a shit ton of money!
Take everything with a pinch of salt....for reasons just like this. Something for free tends to make one neglect the actual quality of the product they are sampling.
If I was given a free prius...I'd think, "cool" it isn't that bad. But would I ever buy one, fk no! Would I find the positives for the guttless hipster transporter, sure if they make the pot sweeter by providing free maintanance...but I'd still describe it as..."a fkn prius dude big whoop"
Which brings me to a promo I was just a part of. Free product. I saw, I got in, will I hype it up like it's the next best thing known to man? If it put's me in olympia status then yes...otherwise it will be subject to the same scrutiny as a steak dinner. Because guess what, I've had a bunch, have a bunch of steaks in the freezer...so a free steak isn't doing me any favors tbh

I don't get involved in "free". I don't care what it is. I think that's what's wrong with this world. People standing in line for free shit. I don't want a free sample, I don't want to sign up for free magazines, I don't want to sign up for any free internet bullshit from some company that's going to hound me with emails trying to sell me shit, I don't want your free fuckin store credit card that's going to cost me 8 times what the product cost. I can understand why sources try to "motivate" you to leave a review. People are lazy, they just want to get their free shit and that's it. So the source just gave out bunch of free gear for nothing.
On the same token, people on here should look out for each other. It's us vs them, you know. By writing a fake rewiew, you're screwing someone.. how would you like if you buy bunch of garbage gear based on someone's good review. Karma is a bitch..no pun intended
I resently got some free gear to try through a promo. I personally did not like it.. it wasn't awfull, but not up to my standards. I don't care how much free shit they would offer me, I could never write a a positive review for this product.

I take a lot of reviews with a big pinch of salt to be honest. Most of the guys writing them are members with 1 karma and no street cred. The mods do a great job weeding out the lazy reviews but it's impossible to get rid of bullshit written by fanboys looking for a free bottle of test. Those motherfuckers are pathetic.

I agree with that mostly, but I have low karma as I don't post that much on here, and I take advantage of SOME of the promos listed here. Personally, never been offered anything free in return for a review but to me that concept makes no sense. The whole idea of a review is how you liked the product, did it work etc. If I buy a product for 50% off or pay full price I still expect my gear to be quality. I tend to stick with 1 or 2 sources I order from all the time because #1 the gear works, and #2 I have built a relationship with them. I read reviews, but mainly if i want to try a new source, which I rarely do, I know the risk so I just chalk it up as a loss if the gear is bunk.

Service is good... these big promos asking to review are simply a ploy to move up the ranks nothing more.... A source better not dare try to send me some shit for a Positive Review...... Seems they keep trying to pull that shit behind the scenes and in my opinion the shit head that bites that hook is a cancer to the site and just screws the site over bad..... May cause a customer to look over a good source to jump in on a source with all the"Positive reviews for test Dbol or whatever..... The mods are on to the shit tho and have been but every now and then another will sneak in the back door....... So if one contacts you... I'm talking to the higher Karma guys because sadly they will come at you because it makes them look good if they get you on their page...... If they come at you.... Take it to a mod

TronA review site means to me a place where you go to write an honest review for a product you have used. Eroids is not just a review site to a lot of us. Its a community that we care about it and its up to us to report sources that offer free gear in exchange for a POSITIVE review.
GearofWarHappens all too often-especially with the big, heavy-hitting sources. How do they get and stay at the top? Lots of traffic, lots of flowing capital, and more freedom to toss gear for a favorable or "updated" review. A PROMO should be just that: a promotional offer to get the name and goods out to as many people as possible and spread the word about the Source and the UGL's they're hawking. And hopefully foster loyalty to the source as well. Promos shouldn't be used to coax, bait, and bribe members into posting bogus, fabricated, tainted, or colorfully written reviews in exchange for a discount or freebies. Maybe I'm way off base but perhaps verbiage could be changed when talking about "promos"? For example if you are to login to view the "PROMOS" section you find all manner of offers there. From completely free offers to try gear on up to 10% off for 1st time customers and all manner of deal in-between. Now the words promo and sale are 2 different animals IMO. When I think promo I think free stuff usually. When I see sale I tend to think percentages off and BOGO, etc because you're still paying for something to get something as a bonus. It's not a knock or a gimme, like a promo. I'm not meaning to argue semantics but it may just be something to think about. Promo vs Sale as categories. I'm sure that many more of the guys here are more inclined to post up more honest reviews of goods and sources even if they get a BOGO deal or something like that because they still had to pay SOMETHING for their stuff. When getting a straight hand out they're surely more inclined to kiss a source's ass out of gratitude for the free shit. Am I right? It's simple human nature-the attitude of gratitude. But yes it's an honor system and it'll never be perfect, but it's a far cry better here than ANYWHERE else out in the worldwide web AFAIC for a safe buying experience with Mods and members that take care of their own.
Looks like a source wants nothing but good reviews, meaning if you have a bad review he will then bribe you for a good one so you can get in on the next free promo when it comes along. Quite possible if you do that , you'll be source repping in no time just getting free shit to drop by and pump the source every few days, which is already an epidemic here. But because the guys are liked they get over looked. There will always be shady characters and when they get caught they play dumb soo there is no real repercussions.

No, we have talked to the source and honestly o don't think he knew how far across the line he was. Much like regular members many sources do not really read or understand the rules. Hell, there are a lot of times I am unclear of them myself.

It's about as good as the sources who post their own mass spec testing even though rules state clearly there's no self promotion. Or the sources who post promos clearly on their si without following rules.
