@whitechocolate, I personally try to avoid aspirin or ibuprofen, but if a headache is bad, I'll succumb to the use of over the counter medicine. I realize that if you're posting this thread here, it's severe enough that you're not just asking how to treat symptoms (which, meds don't treat the cause, only the symptom). Still, it's worth attempting using medicine, assuming you're not against those types of things. However, the advice below is most informative, yet again adding to the eroids database. I'm grateful to the awesome people on this site.

I have all kinds of experience with headaches, chronic cluster headaches, infrequent migraines and tension headaches all since I was 17, this sounds like textbook symptoms of exertion headaches. I used to get them during rugby practice when it was really hot out and coach would run is to hell and sometimes in the gym but not often anymore. Otc remedies would be naproxen 2hrs or so before you lift, if that dorsnt work indomethacin it's rx 50mgs same thing 2hrs prior to workout, this worked well for me back when I had issues with them. If that doesn't work and this becomes a chronic issue propranolol is typically the next step, it's a beta blocker but prescribed off label for these types of headaches. Some can take it on a as needed basis like workout days only while others need to take it daily to reach stable levels and give it time to kick in.

It definitely sounds like exertion headaches they can start at any age or time but like rusty said it would be good to rule out potentially serious problems. Might want to see a doctor just for the peace of mind. Headaches suck man I truly feel you pain.

Appreciate it! If it keeps up i will try some naproxen like you say..

I get it after dead lifts...heavy weight and thick blood...is it a bounding pulsating headache, or continuous dull ache? Do u supplement with a multivitamin? Arginine and Niacin vasodilate, which may help alleviate discomfort.

whitechocolate's picture

Good info. It was a pounding headache the other day and today it hurt pretty bad but didnt last near as long. I take niacin and i beleive arginine is in my pre workout.

MedDx's picture

Both niacin and arginine have a wide margin for dosing. If ur on u may need BW. If not, u could still benefit from dropping a unit.

It could be a combination of things, not breathing correctly while lifting- pop a blood vessel like mentioned below- a couple months back my brother was having problems with his vertigo which was causing severe headaches and neck pain.
Are you taking any orals? Are you drinking enough water?

whitechocolate's picture

Funny u mention vertigo i have been having similar issues but more like a equilibrium issue it could be from ear issue though. I was taking anavar for 3 days but stopped and put on hold because of it.. i drink at least a gallon a day so im thinking either breathing or popped blood vessel..

madman's picture

Yes sir, ear issues will cause headaches they will pop up out of a sudden and can last several days at times. Like I mentioned above my brother was having really bad ear infections for several weeks then he finally went and seen a doctor and had to have surgery in his ear and ever since then he's been having vertigo issues which is causing really bad headaches. If these issues continue I definitely go see a doctor if I were you just to be on the safe side.

MedDx's picture

How long with vertigo issue? Thats blood crossing the blood-brain barrrier...it happened to me last night and i know my RBCs are high right now. I have been dry too as evidenced by increased BUN/Creatinine....i was catching up on my volume last night and felt the shift occur. Its been a while since it has happened. Mine lasts for about 10 seconds...

It sounds like you popped a small blood vessel in your head. It happens due exertion (exertion headache). You can also get them from sex (orgasmic or sexual headache).
Generally they're harmless, but they hurt like hell and they can come back when you lift or have sex again, for the next few weeks. Just have to take it easy for a while and take some Motrin or the like. PM me if you have other questions.

That's crazy, I could understand the nosebleed but the head bleeding that look more like his acne popping.

TheFlash85's picture

he did not breathe- pressure builds, cappilaries fill and block then pop/ burst. blood isnt circulating, builds up then has to go somewhere, thats why your face/ eyes etc go blood red, because the blood isnt moving around sufficiently, its hard to explain but its a process lol.

MedDx's picture

Thats the way to donate blood, right there...

TheFlash85's picture

BREATHE!

whitechocolate's picture

Was wondering if that could be the issue not breathing correctly!

juiceball8082's picture

I get headaches when my blood gets thick. I now donate every two month's.

MedDx's picture

Doing my drop in 15d...cant wait...i get to feel like new me...

juiceball8082's picture

MedDx's picture

Great minds think alike...i should have dropped in July, but chose to overlook the headaches as sign of anything else being wrong..bloodwork cant be trumpped...

juiceball8082's picture

Same here bro. I said hey blood pressure is fine. I was at 200mg a week but dropped to 150 cause at 200 I'm back to the same number's.

MedDx's picture

On the same path, but keeping same low low dose (63) and dercreasing frequency to e4d for right now.

juiceball8082's picture

Yeah if I don't see any difference I'll drop to a 100. Doc said donate and if I still come in high then lower the dose.

whitechocolate's picture

Yes i donate pretty much asap every couple months especially being on trt.
