+ 6 blood pressure reminder

ad

Most of us , at one time or another will experience high blood pressure from the compounds we run. The problem is when we allow our blood pressure to remain elevated for extended periods of time.
Our blood flows through our arteries with too much force and over time it will damage the walls of the arteries. It will also stretch the vessels in your kidneys which leads to them scaring and getting weaker. High blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney failure in the USA.
So just a reminder , keep checking your blood pressure all the time, and if need be get on some BP meds to help keep it in check. When we add compounds in like tren and for me masteron, most people will run way above a healthy normal BP.
A lot of guys on here run cycles for extended periods of time, or long blasts. I am guilty of it myself and we never think of the damage we are doing because we dont feel it as its happening.
Stay safe !!

Thumbs up for a good reminder. Have to remember the things we do are not healthy even if they do make us feel like we are.

Yea like the added pre-comp addition of other drugs lol

BP monitoring should be standard procedure for anyone one gear, regardless of dose or length.
I'm on TRT (180 mg a week) and my BP shot through the roof after about six months. I tried every "natural" remedy, but nothing made any significant difference. I went to my doctor and got on a low dose BP med and now I'm within a normal range. I also donate blood every 4-6 months.
Don't get fooled in thinking that low doses won't increase your BP. Always keep an eye on it.

I agree with your insight that blood pressures definitely should be monitored. However, I would not make a suggestion such as "keep checking your blood pressure all the time." My problem with that statement is that some people will take this literally and will actually check their blood pressure multiple times daily. These people are usually a little "type A," and anxious to begin with, but the act of just simply checking your blood pressure is is somewhat anxiety laden. When anxious catechlamines are released causing your blood pressure to go up. There is a well known phenomenon in medicine called "white coat hypertension," (blood pressure tends to be elevated when you are in the doctor's office). I feel checking your blood pressure at the same time once a week or once every couple of weeks is sufficient. Check at the same time when you are calm. Keep a log of the systolic and diastolic numbers (top and bottom numbers). Then bring to your physician and discuss. Most of the pathological consequences of uncontrolled hypertension usually take several years to develop. So following this suggestion for a few months with proper follow up should make no real difference in the pathogenesis of the disease. That being said, if your blood pressures are significantly elevated (systolic>180, diastolic >110) then this would meet the criteria for hypertensive crisis and you should be evaluated, obviously, much more urgently or emergently. Again, I would not base this on an isolated reading and more significantly I would be more concerned if you have other associated symptoms (e.g. chest pain, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, etc.). Finally, a lot of you out there reading this probably have large arms. Therefore, you have to make sure you are using a proper sized blood pressure cuff. If the cuff is too small or too large it can lead to falsely elevated readings. Hope this helps at least one person. Thanks for your time.

If it was for a normal regular person I would agree with you, however I am speaking about guys and girls like us who sometimes run heavy compounds. When not on BP meds when on blast , when I am running tren ESP . My BP has crazy spikes and can shoot up drastically with no rhyme or reason. I can go from feeling normal to being flush in the face and sweating from my BP spiking without warning . This is why I think it's a good idea to check it regularly . Do I mean literally every 5 min? No. But for me when running heavy compounds I need to keep a very close eyes on it .

I doesn't hurt to check it frequently. It will actually give you a better handle on what your real average BP is.

I completely agree with this. I use an Omron 10 series that catalogs BP and HR. It also has a nice Bluetooth feature so I can transfer the readings onto my tablet and smart phone. I use it at least twice a day now. It is actually scary how fast BP can change. Even with blood work that looks great I still have to battle to keep my BP ~ 135/85 while on cycle.

How big is the cuff on the series ten? I have a series 7 and It comes with a 17 inch cuff that is too small but I use it anyways. I'm looking for a larger cuff

DBG's picture

Man go get a Gurin wrist cuff. It's what I have and works just as good

fusebox's picture

I have a wrist cuff and it's readings are way off. It definitely reads under what it actually is. I thought it was good but I was feeling flush I checked it with the wrist and it read 135/85. Compared it to the arm and it was 150/95.

DBG's picture

alright then. stirred a hornets nest with that one

fusebox's picture

No hornets nest here bro. It's all good. Not sure what brand of wrist cuff I have ( I'm sure it's a cheap piece of crap) but the arm wrap one I got is a good one if it was a little bigger.

Pale's picture

If the arm cuff is not the one made for big arms it will read high.

Wrist monitors are better now then they were. But personally I still prefer to pay the higher price for the upper arm cuff. Too easy to get a misreading on the wrist.

Works for me. My wrist readings are consistent with every time I go to a doctor(which is like never) but donating blood every 60 days...long ester compounds systolic hypertension 140/80...borderline

crazymofo's picture

Well if it is as accurate for you as the doctor's readings then you can't get much better then that.
Mine came in at 132/85 today, barely in range. If I drink too much caffeine on cycle shit spikes real bad... and coffee is my one vice.

crazymofo's picture

Its the same 17" cuff. That's all that Omron makes unfortunately. I am going to have to get a bigger one soon myself I can barely get it on now. One more bulk and that's it. The next one I think I am going to buy is one made by Lifesource, they have a cuff that fits up to 24 inches.

fusebox's picture

Thank you for that. I will be looking for one.

Good call. Pale rider said in treads sticky about bp that he downloaded an app for his iPhone. And he said it's really accurate. I'd download it but I'm getting a new phone soon.

Pale's picture

It sucks tho because now I know (as I suspected) I have bene running a bit high. 140's over 86 or so. Gotta start being more aggressive to knock it back. I get frequent headaches and my tinnitus gets way louder. Them are my usual warning signs.

fusebox's picture

Pretty much the same for me. 140/90 which is the highest you can have and still carry a commercial drivers licence. My face gets super flushed and it has always been red on both of my cycles. But before I start my next run I'm getting a script just to be safe.

Good reminder.
