+ 3 Filteration of amps do you really have to?
ad
Hi all!! I'm new around here but not new to the game. However this will be my first time using amps instead of a regular 10ml vial. I was wondering if you have to filter the oil through a sterial filter so no particles go into the oil? Also if a filter is absolutely needed what kind of micron rating should I get? I see where I can buy them I'm just not sure on size and such. Thank you for any and all feedback guys I really appreciate it.

AnonIve used many amps bro.. Many. I have never used a filter on them but you have to uae clean and sterile practices which should always do anyway.... Carefully snap the top and draw with a bigger needle and inject with smaller just you would normally do.... Just keep an eye out for glass.... Also some accessory shops sell amp openers
JuicewizardThank you for the reply man.. They're chep enough I'm thinking I'll just buy an opener and filters just to be safe
It's all about peace of mind bro. I have it down to a science filing the top and snapping it off like nothing. But just the thought of a piece of glass in the oil turns my stomach. I've never had an abscess (knock on wood) and dont plan on starting now. The easiest way to run amps imo is to filter them right into a sterile vial and go from there. The small file on a pair of nail clippers works best to file around the edges. Plus when everything is in a vial it's a lot easier to adjust dosages and draw out what you want instead of being subject to 1 or 2ml depending on the type of amp...be safe and good luck
JuicewizardThanks for taking the time to come over and post this man.. What micron size do you use for your sterial filter?
All depends on how much labor you want to put into it. The smaller sizes are very time consuming and hard on the thumbs. I used to use a .45 but I believe they have a larger size if you're only concerned about glass particles.
I will second the time consumption. I use .22 and it takes a long while, but patience is key, and quite frankly a few minutes of one's life for the peace of mind of filtered oils is not too steep a price to pay.
JuicewizardOk so .45 I'll try that then. Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my question

If the amp has a dot on it over the score in the glass all you need to do is:
You need a paper towel, alcohol pad, amp
roll the base if the amp up a few times in the paper towel –leave the neck and top exposed.
Open the alcohol pad. wipe down the top and neck of the amp.
cradle the amp between your thumb, index finger, and middle finger.
point the dot away from you.
slip the pouch the alcohol pad came in over the top of the amp.
tilt the amp slightly away from you to help prevent any glass from falling into the amp (not so much as to spill the content).
CONFIDENTLY snap the top TOWARD you. It takes about the same amount of pressure as snapping open a smelling salt.
Enjoy.
EDIT: after I got used to doing it I stopped using the paper towel (protects hands from cuts should the amp shatter)
Juicewizardok that's easy.. Thanks for taking the time to dig this information up man.
That right there was my guide to opening amps. No offense, but I may have even plagiarized the line "confidently snap towards you" once or twice whilst describing the procedure to others. Don't worry a check is going in the mail. Make that out to Billy Franklin Gibbs right?
The only time it should be an issue us if you actually crush the top between your fingers. I just ran a cycle with pharma test, and ended up throwing out 3 amps due to breaking them.
Were you using an amp opener or no? I bought an amp opener but again, I haven't even tried it yet.
No. I tried a pen cap, but found it awkward. I tried scoring them, but that didn't seem to make much difference. It just became a feel thing. I just got used to absolutely zero pinching pressure being applied. I should also say the 3 I broke were all within the first 10-20 I used. I kinda like the ritual of pinning from an amp now, makes things seem more sophisticated.
JuicewizardThank you for your time to reply. All of you guys have made me feel a lot better about not needing a filter.
I don't use amps for this exact reason. I agree with Greg that correct opening technique should negate the need. But my father-in-lawn is an EMT and they use amps on his truck all the time and he said they are required by law to use a filter needle.
JuicewizardThanks for the reply man. I might try the filter at first to see how much of a pain in the ass it is. But I can see why your uncle is required by law in the other hand for their safety.
I think that's more of an insurance policy against lawsuits in your father in laws case
Greg is pretty much spot on, but if it's an issue of security and you're going to be constantly worried about it, go ahead an filter it. Sometimes it's better to have peace of mind. I use .22 filters whenever I need to filter whatever it is I'm using, but remember to run some GSO afterwards through the filter as they tend to hold (I've seen the consensus being up to 2ml) of oils in them.
If you're opening the amp correctly (slight tilt) no, you don't.
JuicewizardPerfect!! Thanks for the reply!
Good question. I have a bunch of Bayer amps that I haven't even used yet..
JuicewizardYea same here lol and karatchi sust
