Over the years we have had many posts about bringing on MODs, and well theres always a good group of guys that throw their hand up and say I want a shot. But to be perfectly honest, talk and actions is 2 different things entirely.

So are we looking for a MOD? nope!

But, we will again some day that you can be sure of! So I guess the question you should ask yourself is how do I solidify my opportunity to be a MOD some day?

But before we get into that, lets talk a little about me. Did you know I had only been on the site for about 2-3 months when I became a MOD? I wasnt an expert on steroids, cycling, PEPs, GH, or any other thing related to gear. I wasnt popular, didnt have nice write ups, didnt have any friends, didnt have pics up, hadnt ordered but from maybe 2 sources. I was in all aspects a no-body, BUT I showed a desire to enforce the rules by advising people when they violated them, was non-bias when it came to sources and fanboys, and i didnt try to use eroids for what i can get out of it but rather what i can do for it.

And you know what happened? I stuck out like a sore thumb, and BFG came to me and asked me if I wanted to be a MOD! And thats it thats how it all began for me.

Every time all of us MODs get together and say we need a new MOD who do you think would be good? and we all just sit there looking at each other hoping that one of us has seen someone that has tried to enforce some rules. Someone that sticks out like a sore thumb because they are one of the few, or maybe even the only one that tries to enforce some rules on a regular basis.

Well where you at? where is all those guys that want to be MODs? Why arent they contacting MODs when they see something on the board that they know shouldnt be there? why arent they saying something to the guys that are breaking rules? why arent they standing up to the people that are fanboying?

I really could go on and on about the things that i would do if I wanted to solidify myself into a MOD position, but I guess the question is what are you gonna do? are you gonna stop caring about what other people think of you and do what is right for the site?

I know rusty was always called the snitch out in public, and honestly if he hadnt screwed up when he first got here he would have been a MOD much sooner. And you know what I can honestly say he gots my vote to stay, the guy is doing well at the job, but I did expect that he was doing the job in sorts for a long time!

Im not saying be a rusty or be a me or any other MOD! Im saying if you want to be a MOD then show the site you care. it might be 6 months, it might be 2 years, but I guarantee you that when we need a new MOD again the guys that show they care are gonna be the guys we look into bringing on.

I dunno Noid. I've been in software all my life. For me, do I really want to read the systems reports that show member activity in an unflattering light? Do I want that perspective? Or, is it a blessing just to be a regular and be a little naive? I think I have the same healthy desire to protect eroids from damage that most of us have but I'm not sure I want to drink from the fire hose like the MODs do from an administrative view.

Well you dont have too, no one does! All im saying is every time we start the search for MODs all these hands go up, yet no-one stands out with MOD skills on a regular basis. The damn site should be running smooth as hell with everybody that wants to be a MOD, but it never fails ill drive up to an Si thats a mess with fan boys and out of line sources, illegal promos getting posted and the guy that had his hand raised to be a MOD will either be in the middle of the shit guilty as hell or posting next to it acting like he dont see it....You didnt ask to be a MOD so this post was never directed at you

Look..... Rusty and I have been cool from the beginning, and he won't even let ME get away with even the pettiest infraction....so you can be sure that Rusty is going to play it straight.... LOVE this guy as a MOD becuase his delivery is very diplomatic.

At work whenever I am hiring I get hit by about 400 applications and sometimes more. I then go through keywords to eliminate a few of them. Then schedule the interviews that take about 2 weeks; the candidates I choose for the final round don't get hit with the same old bs "what can you do for my company?" or where do you see yourself in 5 years? I have them show me what they have accomplished; what motivates them every day to get out of bed in the morning. I base my final decision on general attitude; willingness to learn new things and above all personality. I have been burned more times by using a cookie cutter interview then when I just winged the entire thing. My point is It's never easy to make any decision because it will reflect back to you when they turn out to be terrible and actions always speak louder then words. Sometimes the quiet ones are worth more then the dog that always barks when he hears anything. Also if you have everyone policing the site why bother taking in another Mod when everyone is doing the job without the tag? Problem solved?

I think it's because I don't want to be viewed as a "tattle tale" or I don't want to waste your time with what I think is a rules violation. I don't want to act like a MOD when I'm not.

are you gonna stop caring about what other people think of you and do what is right for the site?

Yes

Fuck being a mod. We should all be doing this anyway. I admit most of my time is spent in SIs. I try to impose site values in some of those Wild West SIs. I just like this place, I like our bros (even the noobs) and I want to see us all succeed. I've done my fair share of contacting you guys when I see issues (lol there was 1 SRC gone soon after you and I talked). I personally think this should be a wake up post to all of the regulars here. Of course we will get those that just want a SRC reference, but if your name and avi is recognized, IMO, this is how you should be conducting yourself. I truly have no mod aspirations, but I will step my game up.

Your post is spot on Noid. I do what I can and correct actions where I can. Could I do more? Sure. I think Rusty and Greg have been great choices and combined with the old guard you guys are in great shape. I am happy to help any way I can and I don't need a mod tag to do it.

We are all blessed to have this site and access to the gear we do. It is in every single one of our best interests to protect the integrity of this site. That goes for both members and sources alike.

Very informative post. I know I care about this site and know several others that do to. I'll try to stand up for more rules as the site does need more policing by us members(no means is this saying I deserve or should ever be a mod) but I'll try better to help out as I'm sure others will to

This post is a good guide for what we as members should do. I posted in the forums about negging reviews, and MOD Greg challenged me (indirectly) to go and call out the reviewer on their poor review. I'm not looking to become a MOD myself (I don't feel like I have the time required to do the job correctly), but I do wish to continue to help the site so I will post on the SI page of the review that I feel isn't making any difference, and try and work with the reviewers to make their reviews more relevant. That will be the best way I feel I can contribute to the site that has changed my body and my life. I love this site and want to see the members show the same love back to eroids!

I saw what you did, and I applaud you. Thanks for bringing it to the open forum so I can +1 ya. These SIs and reviews are out of control. They need to be brought in line with the rest of our beloved sites values.

I appreciate the kind words. I thoroughly intend to continue doing what I'm doing as long as it helps. The reviews have been so piss poor it makes me feel like we had been reduced to just the lame asses reviewing for free or discounted gear. THAT destroys the credibility of a review site. The good reviews are far and few between but when I do see them ill plus 1 accordingly. Hopefully more of us will do the same!

I definitely give credit for the bros that are writing excellent reviews, but I always avoided negging the bad ones. Because A. There are so many of them, and B. I didnt want to pussy neg. You've set out a good model for negging reviews without being a silent bitch. I try to stay positive and give out as few negs as possible, but IMO once a guy gets past having their "NEW" tag, they should know the importance of and the how to's of writing a quality review.
