Hopefully when you get to the fleet ya can find the biggest gym rat doc and become good friends then he can score ya free needles and shit..they don't test for steroids. if ya get caught with em your screwed and if you get injured or some sort or hospital stay situation and the medical officer becomes suspicious and orders the test then you can be found out costs around 3500 dollars for them to run the test. In meps it's a standard drug dipstick like the ones you buy at the store. Same goes with the fleet and only 10 percent of urine samples get tested for the standard drug panel.. I was a doc for 5 years and tons of people in the military are on roids.

I'll share a boot camp story with you. we'd all come back in from drill got squared away, was running on adrenaline I left my locker undone, DI stood me at attention dumped all my gear to find a Zippo that was my father's I'd brought with me. it was engraved with the eagle, globe and anchor. that hard ass Sgt. Nettles ( funny you'll never forget the name) had me stand at his side and said if you can grab this lighter before it hits the bulkhead you can return to free time. he whipped that bastard as hard as he could. and I chased it diving on my chest trying to get it for what seemed a lifetime was only ten min or so. in the end my chest was red, rubbed raw, it hurt for a week. soo take our advise, no contraband brother lol. still graduated platoon leader btw. Hey bud I was in the Marines and it isn't tested for. No one really gave a shit abkut it in the Infantry mos but just don't go advertising it. If your gonna be on th ground they want yoy as big and fast and strong as possible. Stay natural until after boot camp and infantry or mct. Then people wont be all up in your shit so much. I left my footlocker unlocked one time on free time. More than one arms distsnce you lock it back. The saying is no one is a theif in the marine core everyones jist tryinf to get there shit back. Had my locker thrown across the barracks had to pick everything uo reorganize right and get it thrown again while everyone was getting fucked up waitinf on me dont try and bring shit with yoy to boot camo. Even in infantrt school we hae a couple random locker inspections wait until you join the fleet. If you must use infantry school i cwn tell you w couole ways to but dont suggest it. Your in a dirty enviroment snd dintdon't get to shower for s week at a time. Go to the field monday come back fridayYoull see theres a method to the madness. Do as many pullups and bushups and bearcrawls and shit as you can before you go. You wanna hold your own and not be a weakling.Dont let the di get ti you its all a mind fuck game. Get in the best shape you can now but nothing will prepare you for it fully. Dont tell your recruiter shit or your gonna habe to get a drug waiver. I had tk get a drug waiver and a tattoo waiver ro join. Never admit to doing any drugs. I said I smoked weed yesrs ago not thinking and dickhead wouldn't start my card over. But waivers are easy ti get depending on enlistment goals but it still goes on your file. I can give you some boot camp tips if you want to fr and p.m. me. Went to the island march 2007. If your infantry wait untik you get to infantrt school makes boot camp look like a joke. During your processing at the island your going tk have what's called the moment of truth and everyone gonna have there heads dkwn so no one can see. There gonna try to scare you and tell you this is your last chance to come clean your gonna be kicked out and go to jail if your lieing to us. There gonna say they pulled all your medical records and drug screened for every substances. Dont say shit its a trick. I went in with a stomach condition I lied about. They cant find every medical record on you or anything. Recruiter told me dont say a damn thing and I didnt. You'll be up for the first three days your there, we got a few like 10min naps during processing putting heads down on a desk. So sleep on the airplane or bus there and eat whatever fast food you want. I had Popeye chicken strips with my food voucher. Once you get to the airport its on from the time you get in that room. Learn your general orders before boot camp.

Not sure if meps test for that or not, but I was in the reserves for a number of years, we had monthly drug testing, during those years I was cycling on and off, and knew of 6 other members of my unit that was also using, and not one of us had incident. I asked one of my NCO's, and he told me they don't test for steroids due to the cost. That was also well over 15yrs ago. Not sure if that helps or not, but if your set on going to the military, I would research a bit further.

Nah man they don't screen for steroid use unless they catch you with a bunch of vials and needles in your socks during a room inspection, or something similar giving them probably cause. Had a few friends get chaptered out of the army back in the day after their stash was found... But never heard of anyone getting tested for gear randomly.

Steroids are not tested in the military unless special requested. So unless your a complete douche and they want you to get in trouble and kicked out then your fine.

as a former USMC myself they dont test for it at MEPS and many of my brothers and myself were on or used during service. to be honest it seems to get a blind eye.

They don't test for steroids brother... only narcotics.

A lot of our service men use gear and thank God For that. We need every advantage we can get now days. As for the initial screen, sorry I can't comment. Good luck to you sir.

It is a drug screening ... they look for thc, opiods, etc... they want to know if you lied to recruiter
