Brother, if you dont read anything ever again, read the books. If you like the show, the books will capture and hold you. Incomparable even though they did a VERY good job with the show. Ive read thousands of books of all genres and have never read an author who comes close to martin in terms of character development or complexity of story.
I have read just about all of Stephen Kings older books. I read the Stand from front to back in 7 days my first time,lol. But I think out of all of them The Talisman was my favorite. Of course the Dark tower is epic in its own right, but yea I have a feeling Thrones trumps it, just because of all of the politics and mind fucking he does at every turn, lol
I used to like King. Too many anticlimatic endings for me. Too many good ideas rushed to finish. Probly for the publishers sake. I was a big robert jordan fan - wheel of time series, for a long time. Then came a song of ice and fire...
