Deadlift day

ad

Basically I'm wondering if you guys do Deadlift on leg day or on back day? I'm unsure about where to put this lift in my routine.

Too much work to be done on back day and not enough energy after squats (quads) so I've dedicate deadlifts on hamstring day.i split my leg day to be able to accomplish this and it workout well for me. Since there's not a ton of hamstring exercises in a free weight I kill the abs at the end...

I (was) more into powerlifting so I was always focused on training specific lifts and implementing accessories as needed that would allow me to address certain technique/muscular weaknesses in my big squat, bench or DL. Basically when it came to squat and deadlift training, there was a huge area of overlap as far as hitting the same muscle groups on each day. Also I rarely trained my squat and DL very intensely at the same time, I was usually focused on making gains on one or the other (usually squats) in addition to bench as I felt training all 3 was difficult to recover from.

Id usually do:
-DLs, work up to set of 5, reset each rep (no tng)
-close/DL stance below parallel box squats, work up to a set of 10 (help speed off the floor tremendously)
-Pendlay rows, usually 5x5 or 8x3. sometimes replaced with regular BB rows if I felt lockout strength lacked
-romanian DLs
-abs, maybe some rear delts/other upper back stuff

i guess if i had to pick Id say back day but just remember that the DOMS you encounter during leg day from DLing earlier is something you can work through and will eventually adapt to in a few weeks to the point of it being a non issue.

Deadlift on back days, if your schedule is spilt like that.

I always deadlift once a week and squat once or twice. But I train more hit style so am incorporating more full body movements, like squat clean, squat snatch etc.

Deadlift on back day so I can squat on leg day.
Used to do both on the same day but one or the other compound move would suffer

I do full body three times per week and I deadlift after squats.
Hard to say otherwise, they hit my lats and hams/glutes very hard.

i personally use deadlifts as my first lift on every other leg day in place of back squats. it really doesnt matter to me i used to do it on back day as well i am constantly switching over the years

I also deadlift on back day. Like swolltroll, I begin with that exercise. Last two back sessions, I've bypassed it however but I will get that deadlifting in tomorrow and just focus on that for a good 20 minutes.

I deadlift on back day. Its the first lift after warmup. I make sure to squeeze my back muscles and often hold it there at the top of a rep.

Deadlifts on back day

I got an L4-5 annular tear and some bulging discs in my back so I can no longer do deadlifts but when I did I would always do them on back day. Its definitely a full body movement but in my opinion the emphasis was on my lower back. Some people like to do them on leg day but if that was what I was doing I would have it as far away from back day as possible. You just gotta find what you like best, but I personally wouldn't be able to do squats and deads in the same day. Such a great exercise, a true mass builder.
