+ 1 40 and trying first cycle soon

ad

So I just turned the big 40 in March, and I'm planning to run my first cycle ever this fall. I'm trying to get my research going early so that I can have everything in hand with time to spare. I am 6'1 and 250 lbs. and at about 13% BF right now. I have been lifting seriously for 15 years and a bunch more for sports before that. I want to cut fat and gain some more size. My diet is in good shape and my workouts are always evolving. I am brand new to gear and definitely open minded to input! I have done a fair amount of research but have found a lot of conflicting ideas. For my 1st cycle I'm thinking about this:
1-12, Test E @ 500mg a week split
4-until PCT, Arimidex @ .5mg eod
Start PCT 15 days after last shot.
Clomid 100/100/50/50
nolvadex 40/40/20/20

First off wondering if this cycle is worth a shit for a 40 year old, most data seems slanted towards the late 20 to early 30 guys. I'm also looking for input on doses people usually take of the arimidex (i've see probably 100 variations talked about). Finally do most people take the AI into PCT, or stop when they start the PCT.

Huge thanks for any input.

Thanks for all of the input guys. I'm going to wait on the trt until my natural levels start to drop. I am going to run a cycle this fall.

I was on TRT already then blasted 500 mg test per week for my first cycle. I had an ai on hand but didn't need it. Also since I was already on TRT I didn't do any PCT.

The body recomp was incredible. Lost lots of fat and gained lean mass very quickly. I think you will be pleased with the results you get at that dosage.

To voluntarily go on TRT before you need to is likely to be irrevocable. At 40 years old you very likely have another 40 years to live. That's a long time to do weekly injections and a lot can change in the future.

My fear is that my money might run low in retirement and I will not be able to afford it. And who knows, the government might change regulations and insurance might stop covering it. Personally I would never go to TRT unless I had to, and especially if you are in the middle of the reference range naturally.

Thanks vhman,
I'm glad I started this several months b4 I want to actually start, one way or the other. I think I'm leaning more towards cycling a few times b4 hitting the trt, again because the trt is permanent. Is the 6 month baseline you mentioned just to let the test shots for trt settle into the system and figure out where you are from there?

Settle in probably isn't the right term. It's to get you stabilized. Running Blood tests are vital to see where you're at. Otherwise you're just guessing and that is never wise. A good six months, with several blood tests will give you a baseline to compare to.

Thanks Seahawk for the input. I hadn't really considered the trt mostly because I wanted the benefits of a cycle (i.e. mass gain) I was on clomid for awhile when my wife and I were doing the fertility thing. It raised my test a bit, but not much over the middle of the reference set, where I was already. I also didn't realize you could cycle while on the trt. More to think about. Does that end up being more like a cycle and cruise? Thanks!

Seahawk was a 17 year old kid, so I would take what he said with a grain of salt (or a whole shaker). If you can get a doctor to prescribe you TRT, that is the best way to go. You can "blast" here and there, but I would take one thing at a time. If you do choose the TRT route, there is really no going back, so think long and hard about the decision. If you do, you need to spend at least 6 month to set your baseline before you think about "blasting". Be safe and choose wisely.
