+ 67 Fake Votes, My investigation of crooked sources!
upon my arrival, after many a day off, I found myself confronted with a great opportunity. It wasnt the first time it had happened, but back when the board was in its infancy it was expected. Sources would do just about anything for a vote and review and many of them where votes made by the source themselves. I spoke with BFG about it a couple times back then, and while it seemed like it was unbreakable there was some changes being made. Fast forward some time and the board has had a facelift or two and things are much more in control, it appears there is some no-nonsense MODs and some quality sources in the rankings, reviews look much better then they ever have and for the most part there is a high success rate of packs and happy customers.
So why am I being asked if I want some free gear if id be willing to review and vote?
Like a member who actually cares about the integrity of the ranking system and the value of not having to just "hope" that the money I just sent off will actually get me a pack and it will be real. If you have been around here long enough you know what I mean. So I took my concerns to BFG and talked to him once again about the ranking, voting, and review system. And i had an idea.
So I was given permission to do the job. I sent out friend requests to the top 50 sources and made them an offer. it looked like this
"Hey Boss, ive been on this site for some time and seen it go through a lot of transformations. its pretty clear that whether sources are allowed to buy votes or not thats what the promos are for. Myself, My cousin, and two of my partners local to me are all long time members here on eroids with several hundred karma points each. All are different IPs with no way to trace us as a group. If you are interested in a trade we would be willing to give you 4 well written reviews, on any compounds you would like, for $200 in trade shipped. Im from the old school and operate on good faith and a mans word so we are willing to leave 2 reviews and votes prior to receiving products and 2 reviews and votes after. If you agree then ill tell you who the second voter will be, and after products land ill tell you who the 3rd and 4th will be. Just in case you decide to go the MODs im not gonna group us all together until deal is done. pretty simple and straight forward, if your not interested no worries there is plenty of sources to go around. you can hit back on my email too."
This is clearly illegal, cant trade products for votes and surely me leaving two reviews before even getting anything to review would have to be fake.
Alot of sources didnt even respond to my PM, or email.

Thanks for the offer but I'm going to have to decline. What you are suggesting wouldn't be ethical. I'm all for you leaving reviews but it would need to be legitimate reviews on experience of our service and products purchased. Anything else would be false and not a true reflection of my service and quality of products. To do as you suggest would undermine my integrity and defeat the object of this site, although I am well aware that not everyone on this site is as conscientious as me.Regards

THIS IS NOT WHAT MAKES EROIDS, these sources all take away from the integrity of the site, they shit on the very place that makes them money, and honestly I cant say I would trust any source willing to trade for fake reviews.
Thankyou BFG and MODs for everything you put into this site, all your time and effort to make this place great! I hope that as a regular member my contributions help you continue to build on this vision.
I have forwarded all PMs and gave BFG password to my email account, so if anybody has in questions about legitimacy they can be answered.

whats your take on 24hreup? seems to me like he was just more interested in seeing what other sources were up to and how they might be manipulating the rankings. ive never dealt with him personally so im no fanboy but to me it just seems like he was just looking to see whats going on with other sources.

Great undercover work. I can't believe sources would take that risk for 4 votes. Thanks goes out to Eroids and the integrity of some sources. Like a pad lock, it keeps honest people honest, but still slows down the crooks. Hopefully enough to get caught and beaten down to a pulp. Good looking out.

Thanks for doing this. I know you may catch some shit from people, but this shows the dirty side of the game. I know we aren't all naive enough to think that this doesn't go on, but you never really see it brought out in the open like this. Like other people have said we rely on a true and honest review and rating. How else are we to know? Unfortunate in this day and age a man's word doesn't mean shit. That's good. It seems to me like, knock on wood, things are turning around. Cycles page isn't a disaster like it has been, not many trolls out there and we can all see that you guys are cleaning house. I know there's a lot of shady shit that goes on and I've always believed the less you know the better. As long as my karma ain't dropping and I'm still able to sign in each day then it's a good day.

Some sad, dirty ass games these sources play. I've had the same shit happen to me about pre voting before free gear! Fckin shame, str8 fuckery. I'm so glad I won the ebc, so I can try everyone's gear, to determine real/fake. Honesty the real mofo's don't give free shit all the time. Noting bad about free gear, but the scam has to stop. I'm pretty disappointed in the fact that these sources even toyed with the idea that this would be ok. This whole site, and community, is built upon trust and integrity. To see a few of these top sources being ok with something like this is appalling. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the ranking system and the votes. My hat is off to you for doing this kind of an investigation.
It was nice to see some of these sources tell you to go suck an egg but disheartening to see some of them take the bait. As always buyer beware, but hopefully this will send a message that this isn't acceptable. +1

Some of the sources who said they would do it are good sources and I personally have gotten all good stuff from some of them. Buti wouldn't doubt some have a hidden agenda. Get number one or 2 ,3, or top 10 have some killer promo that everyone would get on cause they see there spot on here and believe in this source and all these people get in on it and bam they get all these money dont send anything and they are laughing to the bank. That's something I don't want to happen to me or anyone else. Also I think k the bigger the source in making money proly can give away freebies for votes sorta like them paying for advertising. I Come on herhoping these sources are legit and are a man of their word. I could see someone getting a sample and if it is good right the review as good and if it is bad write as bad. But not getting stuff and writing a review just cause they gave it to u free.

WOW.... thank you for brining this in the open, for the ones that took the offer they should be banned or fined somehow. its sad that not everyone can operate with integrity on here. if a new member would see a review from a member with such high karma they would make there decision a lot easier to purchase from them and the could be getting nothing but grape seed oil... people like this give the rest of the good src's a bad name!!!!!!
