+ 2 Whats Your Favorite Post Workout Meal
ad
I love to eat especially after a hard work out. Have any of you heard the benefits of getting some sugar into the body as soon as you lift. As you work out hard I guess this crashes your sugar levels so you would want to eat something containing sugar after your workout. I prefer a couple of scoops of sherbert with about 8 ounces of milk and 2 scoops of Metrx protein in a blender and IM A HAPPY CAMPER. I even read that getting sugar in the body after the workout can help you utilize your insulin as a growth factors so a coke anyone. Stay hungry ladies and gentlemen.

Sponge, you are on point. I watched a documentary about pre-made chocolate milk being the perfect post workout snack. Granted, you can't live on that crap, but it is still good to know for those of us with a sweet tooth.
Mr.GadgetAnything that gets in my way
I heard that the NFL players have chocolate milkshake machines in the gym for there post workout drink. Something to do with it having the perfect ratio of sugars to protein.
Heres my little recipe though;
Brown pasta
Large chicken breast
Frozen green beans/mixed veg/sprouts (your mum was right- these things are packed with good stuff)
Cook all of that up and pour a load of olive oil to line the bottom of a bowl. Sprinkle whatever spices you want on the oil and mix it up. Chop up the cooked chicken and splash it around in the spicey oil. Mix this with the pasta, and then chuck in the veg. The whole thing takes ten minutes and I can usually make 2/3 meals out of it. If I'm having it cold the next day I just add mayo.
One of the best things about this dish is that it has loads of olive oil in it, but you are not cooking it up, so it stays nice and healthy. Heating up oil changes the composition and its not good for you.
That sounds really tasty, I use EV olive oil in all my dishes, yum!
EV is definitely good stuff mate, its all I use. Until recently I never realised that EV olive oil was actually better for you too.
Good thing about the dish is that it changes every time. I've been eating it for 15 years and I'm still not bored. You can switch from pasta to potatoes, change up the spices, add herbs etc, and change up the protien source- tuna works very well with it.
AnonI usually just have a shake with carb powder right after my workout. But I eat a meal about an hour after so I guess this would be the first thing I eat post workout on a bulk.
Whole wheat wrap, natty pb, strawberry jam, banana, raw coconut, raw honey, cinnamon. Roll it up and enjoy
Strawberry Pop-Tarts or a pint of Ben & Jerry's. ;-)
That's the best ESP ice cream lol
Grilled chicken and broccoli or Bison and snap peas and red skin potatoes, And my other fav is Grilled Tilapia w/sweet potatoes. Depends what my diet is, what time of year and if I'm training for a competition.
I know its odd but I ate two cans of tuna white rice vanilla ice cream with scoop protein made milk shake
you mix that concoction together....I could not choke that down at once, too many competing flavors for me....I have eaten so much tuna in my days that I just about can't choke it down anymore.....diff strokes for diff folks, never heard of that one in my life..lol, more power to ya !
Lol that does sound odd. But then again I make chicken smoothies so I'm not really gonna say anything.
Lol I tried it to blend my food was not for me maybe I should Google a recipe for it or do u just blend and drink
Chicken breast + warm water, blend and drink. It's my pre-workout protein. I never really found a protein powder I liked. Most of them make me feel a little sick or give me a funny tingling in the head. I might just be a pussy though.
No season nothing?
I cook the chicken on the skillet with a little cajun seasoning, but other than that it's just chicken and water. It only takes a few seconds to drink so I didn't see much point. You could get fancy though. Someone came up with a bloody mary shake, something like chicken, tomato paste, worcestershire, etc. Might try that one day.
Okay thanks might give it a try
I got one for ya.. I've had it a few times and it's not bad, usually I'm just too lazy to make it.
-Chicken breast
-pesto
-mozzarella
-water or milk
-salt n pepper to taste
Blend that all up and drink it. You can also substitute roasted red peppers for the pesto and have a completely different shake.
Thanks man will write this down in book appreciate it
I have a post workout shake of my own design. Goes something like this..
1 cup greek yogurt
1 cup egg whites
1 banana
1 raw egg
1 shot of honey (actually I dunno I just eyeball it)
1 tsp splenda (just to make it sickly sweet)
2% milk
Lots of sugar, lots of protein. It digests quick and you're hungry for your next meal in less than an hour.
I am all over greek yogurt and egg white omelets...
Yep I been going egg white omelette nuts here lately myself, and burning yogurt up to, does a body good!
LiebowFor boxing, I train from 5:30am through til 9:30am. Fasted!
When I get home by that time, Im tired and drained out and just want to eat. Out comes the pan of boiling water and in goes 4 eggs for 10mins hard boiling, and out comes the Foreman grill ready for an 8oz steak for 5 minutes grilling. Ill open the fridge and take out a litre of Oatly Oat Drink (its a drink made completely of oats, and its fortified with vitamins and minerals, use Google if you dunno LOL).
So thats my breakfast. An 8oz steak, 4 boiled eggs, and a litre of Oat drink.
My favorite meal after the gym or a game is lousianna chicken pasta. It covers all your needs post workout. If anyone wants to try it ill post the recipe
Your muscles need sugar for recovery. I put two cups of milk, two cups of vanilla soy protein, half of a banana, and one big scoop of peanut butter in a blender and drink that. That covers the sugar part...then it's usually baked chicken or fish , vegetables, loaded bake potatoes, Mac and cheese or whatever. Ill eat some cereal before I go to bed usually raisen bran. It helps me digest really well lol
Protein shake directly after workout. Then 1 or 2 pounds of ground sirloin cooked on my foreman grill, with a bag of steamed veggies on the side hits the spot!
That's the plan right there sounds delicious. So you do music as well. Anything I can listen to
8 whole eggs and 1 cup of jasmine rice
8 whole eggs bro, that's an awful lot of cholesterol but Im not knocking you. How about 1 whole egg and 7 whites.
Whey Isolate 30 grams then at home Top Ramen Noddles with one can on Tuna(without the lil sachet of flavor, that shit is just sodium)
I like youre style!!!
You should look into using Vitargo intra-workout. It's a fast acting carb that replenishes your glycogen stores as they are being depleted during training so the extra carbs are not stored as fat. It gives you that insulin spike/growth factor that you speak of whilst burning fat.
AnonFrosted mini wheats!
You must be kidding are you? Wheats are just fiber!
AnonIs lucky charms any better?
Raisin bran I like a lot.
ive read to eat gummy during workout
MickyDees... 3 Doubles, Large Fries and 50grams of whey protien. : )
Im not mad at you, I like that too, that's a big meal, 3 doubles, geez louise
