some help with putting in my gym time

ad

What’s up everyone, I need some advice. I start a new job on Monday and my schedule is as follows, 12-hour days from 8am-8pm. The schedule is 3 on 2 off followed by 2 on and 3 off. What would you guys/gals recommend is the best way to maintain a consistent gym routine? Would you rather go to the gym in the morning or after work? I would prefer in the morning, the local gym opens at 430am but I am concerned that I won’t get the necessary sleep. Also, we only get 2 15-minute breaks and 1 20 minute break for lunch/dinner. How would you manage this?

hey bro, the best way to approach this since everyone is different is to do both. hear me out, for two weeks hit the gym before work,.. see how you feel, if your energy levels are good, if your strength is being effected and if you are not dead tired at work..after those two weeks go right after work, and compare.. you should be able to get a good idea of whats better for you.. Personally i like going after work but, with my busy schedule i hit the gym at 5am lots of times..

That is a good idea, haven't thought of that.

If it was me and I was on cycle I would hit the gym right after work everyday and go to the gym on non-work days after I got up and my energy levels were good. I am not a morning person that is why I would go after work. I am at the gym 7 days/wk on cycle. If I was off cycle I would be fine only going to the gym on my days off from work.

What I would do is workout in the morning, about 630am for an hour. And work chest and tris, Back and bis. Legs, and shoulders , on seperate days Smile

My workout is geared for definition, would this still be a good way to go.

thanks bro I looked up a few different ones and they seem geared for more power/bulk lifting. I will definitely give it a shot. Eating is going to be the biggest challenge, I only get 2 15 minute breaks and one 20 minute lunch/dinner break. looks like a lot of shakes in my future.

What waltr said. I had a period where I had to pull some long days due to staff shortages. It wasn't until then that I fully appreciated the value of rest time. That said, I don't envy 12 hour days. They can get old quick.
