Anyone into Base Jumping?
Any fellow bro's into Base Jumping??
My last jump was at Wallaman Falls in Cairns.
Also pretty close to that was Bungonia Gorge in NSW.
The sickest lowest pull I've ever done was at about 1:39.
Hanging to go for a jump next year to Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland.
But want to get a winsuit for that to enjoy & control the view a bit more.
Bloody expensive though.
Fear is temporary, regret is forever!!!!
Anyone new to the sport click the below link, it's the FU---n ulitmate experience!!!!!

My mission in life is to get back into it full-time!!!!

Airborne!
Where do I sign up?
Actually ... How DOES someone get involved in this.
Around ~ 7:40-7:58 or so ... That was flight....Horizontal it looked like.
This is the ultimate in my opinion. I've seen it only a handful of times on tv specials.
Never got into base but plenty of 4-way RW jumps competed for a few years. Loved it then, but life changes, kids, sold all my gear. Miss it at times but eh i REALLY enjoy what i do now and the life i lead!!
holy shit!
thats fucking hardcore man! Are you the one jumping backwards off the cliff?
Yeah man, that was me :-)
I was a bit of a fat fuck back then though. :-(
It was in the "Cave the of Swallows" in spanish Sótano de las Golondrinas.
It's only about a 370 meter drop from the higest side.
It was bloody fantastic! One of the best jumps I've ever done bro!
The climb back up was a bitch, that's why I got super fit after that and have never looked back. It's hard treking up those mountains & carrying all your gear, helmet, chute, water, cameras, etc. All for a less than 10-15sec freefall! Now, they have an extraction rope in the cave and it only takes about 10-12 mins to get back up.
It's funny when I train at the gym especially after doing arms etc. I always practice looking for my rip cord, with both left & right hands. You only have about 1-2 seconds MAX to find it. One of my mates died a few years ago at the falls because of that problem. (too low a pull before he found it)
My ex-wife banned me from doing it for many, many years, made me sell all my shit.
But as my friends know I'm BACK and more bloody hardcore!!!!!
I have to put this in: A great German friend I've mine who died just after giving a beautiful speech on life and dreaming of wanting to fly like a bird and trying things out when he was 2 years old.
Summed it all up!
"One life, One adventure"
I will see you one day my beautiful friend :-)
Holy shit bro your one crazy son of a gun! I did one jump static line from 2500 ft, had sensory overload and all that, i could hear the wind but not see shit until my chute opened, i can remember going through the drills tho counting to 5 thousand, but my chute had opened by 2 lol, thank fuck for that! haha.
Seriously tho man your obviously an adrennaline junkie to be getting into the base jumping! haha.
I used to go and watch my old man sky dive when i was a kid, it was awesome, and i was hanging for the day i turned old enough to get into it. I think the age to jump was 16 at the time. Any way on my first jump my steering thing you hold broke and i had to steer down with my risers? i think thats what they are called, never been back to do another jump after that. Fucking instructor told me when i got down that i should of cut away, im like fucking bullshit my first jump and i have a malfunction, my chute was fully inflated and flying straight i aint gonna rely on my last chute hahaha!
It was fun tho, fucking adrenaline rush and a half.
Man that is one heck of a insane jump, jumping off a cliff backwards, time is of the essense doing something like that at 370 meter lol, i bet!
lol :-)
Honestly though bro, sensory overload is a VERY, VERY HUGE thing!!!!!!
When I went for my A-Licence Certificate years ago it took me a while to be able to adjust to jumping out of a plane and then having all your factualities straight away.
It took me several goes until I managed to get it right and be switched on straight away. I don't sumersault 3 or more times like some of the others do. Well, not in base jumping anyway. I tend to just loose my factualities. (You know like sommersaulting in a pool and your guts go up to your head?) well, I can do that at 14,0000 feet no problem. But when your got about a 10 second window and you regain your factualities at about 5 seconds. It's a close call to rip! lol
Go back and do it bro, people shoot speed, heroin, or take other drugs! but it's the ultimate rush man.
BUT, NEVER, I repeat NEVER!!!! pull a a six shooter of turbo cones in a row and then dive off a cliff. I shat my pants and some landed within the canopy, what do you think happened when I landed? Raining Poo!
(I'm sure Poofinger would have loved it though) :-)
Took me F---ken ages to clean too!
fkn hell man, i had the runs the night before my jump, couldnt eat in the morning, then jumped huge adrenaline rush then didnt feel like eating for the rest of the day lol, too much adrenaline! hahaha.
I rekon you guys must have a underactive adrenaline gland! lol
dude i laughed at the six shooter cone before diving off a cliff, hahaha, sif diving off a cliff aint enough! raining pooo, bahahaha!! fark.
Makes sense what your saying, regaining your factualities as you say after doing a triple back flip, thats some hardcore shit, talk about playing with death.
Im pretty focused right now on a couple of things, never know tho maybe one day in the future i will try again, i think about it from time to time.
Shit yeah, your a young Aussie Lad :-)
Just put that one down on your bucket list bro!!
All good, hope to see you in the air some time. :-)
