+ 1 Where do you get your food at?

ad

So we all know, well most of us know... That food is the #1 supplement of all time. You can take all the shit from GNC and all the gear in the world and it won't matter if your eating like shit. So it makes me wonder. Where do you go shopping for your food at? Do you go to Kroger? Aldi? Publix? Whole Foods or do you go to separate places for your meat and pick up the rest of your items at the local grocery store. Are you a farmers market guy/girl or one stop shop at Walmart? I also wonder do you buy a shit ton of meat at one time and freeze it or get it fresh each week. What foods are always a staple in your diet each week. I hope in this thread to get a lot of responses due to the fact that we all know it gets old eating the same thing week after week. I also hope that it will open people up to another food that would fit in their macros. Thanks for your responses and your time.

My wife and I split it up because I eat us outta house and home. We get some basic stuff at aldi (I don't care if its ghetto or not) then we do much if not most of our shopping at Walmart ... And we get our chicken and beef on the weekends at a place called Harris Teeter which is usually expensive but she finds the sale stuff online and we get it there cause its cheaper than Walmart and pretty good quality. We kinda make Saturday or Sunday the restock days. We also found a local produce joint that we are wanting to hit up for the veggies and stuff... Costco or sams club doesn't work for me.. I end up wasting a bunch of stuff somehow. And everything looks so damn good in there that instead of just buying food ill end up walking out with a new watch or a new flatscreen!!! Lol. I'm kinda banned by my wife from those places.

I like getting more bang for my buck. So I go to the Mexican and Korean markets and Costco mostly. Cheap, fresh, and the Asian markets usually have a great selection of whole, live seafood.

By the way, Abaddon, I fucking hate you right now. I'm dieting right now and I can't stop thinking of all the good food Costco has because of this thread. lmao

Bahahhahaha! I'm so sorry bro! It's like being high in the grocery store. You just want to buy and eat everything. Mmmmmm! Ice cream and Funyuns!

Gargoyle's picture

You asshole!!! Ice cream!!!!!!!!! Hahahahahaha

I buy vegetables from a locally owned produce market. Great quality and prices. I get my beef from a local cattle rancher who only deals in organically raised grass fed beef. It is phenomenal. Most of the rest comes from Whole Foods or Publix. I would KILL for a Wegmans store in Orlando.

ShreddedCheddar's picture

I'd love to have a Whole Foods. I watched a special on them the other day. I don't think I've ever heard of Wegmans.:-(

JASON_C's picture

Wegman's is the freakin' gold standard of grocery shopping. High quality food--much of it from local farms, worldclass service from employees who love working there. They are Forbes top three places to work every year...often beating out google, etc. Theyare hq'ed in Rochester NY, but have stores all over the northeast including Boston, DC, and Philly. Great corporate citizen as well.

whole foods, albertsons, supertarget

Costco. We get all of our meat, fish, and some fruit and veggies there. For smaller items we hit an organic food store or publix.

Gargoyle's picture

I watched a special on Costco the other night. They have so much spending power that industries put on trade shows for them. Wine, meats, etc you name it. The best of the best come out and show what they have to try to get Costco to stock them. I had no idea that Costco only carries what are consider the best wines in the world. It was some crazy shit.

Yes, I love Costco. Haha. I shop there at least once a week. I know, I'm a dork. Haha.

ShreddedCheddar's picture

Closet thing I have to that is a Sam's Club.

Gargoyle's picture

If you aren't a member at SAMs I would def check it out and look at the prices and food. Some Sam's clubs are great, some are awful. The one where I live absolutely sucks. The one where my parents lives is awesome.

ShreddedCheddar's picture

Andromeda has a Sam's club card. Been there a couple of times to buy my bulk shrimp. I may just start going there for my meat but I'm more of a Kroger guy when it comes to that. I want to find a good place to get fresher veggies. I'd pay more quality over quantity.

Gargoyle's picture

Yeah I totally hear you. We only buy specific veggies at Costco. Stuff like broccoli, brussell sprouts, etc. Stuff that we can cook in bulk and eat throughout the week. With both of us competing we go through a TON of food. So much so that my wife got a part time job just to help with the grocery bill.

ShreddedCheddar's picture

What do you guys compete in?

Gargoyle's picture

My wife is a national level NPC figure competitor. Came close to winning her pro card a couple of weeks ago. I'm TRYING to get ready to compete in a bodybuilding show. But that's far off man. I'm going to have to be real happy with my physique before I do that.
