Back in the Gym

ad

Been out of the gym for 5 years after my last activation and can't take it any longer! Working on diet and supplements now since everything moved south on me. Debating the 2 views: under 20g of fat a day or the view of some I know who pile in over 100g. I know the science of your body not storing it when so much is coming in but don't know if that will work at my age (49). Planning on starting low, sticking to monounsaturated fats as much as possible. Be eating a lot of avocados!

Waiting on my first online order, Ever, to hit. Caution and paranoia led me to research and research, which led me here. Ironically enough, it was some holier than though forum that was bashing eroids, claiming the top sources here also owned this site. While I found this to be untrue, the funny thing was that it convinced me to check things out. I wouldn't have cared who owned what, as long as they delivered!

Read through the rules and will post a review when the gear lands. Don't know if listing here breaks etiquette or not but the contact there was a great help. Guided me through the process and what to expect, along with good advice on any questions I had regarding my order or anything else

1988?? You really were a boot, to me! By '88, I was on my 4th West Pac, after 2 Meds...sort of. A pair of getting dumped in Beirut deployments ala 1983 so Med yes, Cruise, not so much

Yep, they never let us forget we're part of the Department of the Navy....The men's department!

In 25 years, I was on over a dozen ships so o had a lot of experience there. Would always run into some I had sailed with, at the Trophy Lounge in Diego. Everyone went there at some point, when going through lbfm withdrawals!

I have had awesome experiences with manipulating my fats. After 5 years of tweaking my diet, I finally found a formula that works for me when cutting or bulking. Keep in mind, everyone's body is different and you have to figure out a lot for yourself by trial and error.

I have been taking in about 150g of fat a day. All coming from either natty peanut butter, coconut oil, and RAW olive oil. Here's why...

Natural peanut butter is obviously great for you and tastes amazing, that's a no brainer. Coconut oil, all though is saturated fat, it's mostly MCTs, which are Medium-Chain Triglycerides. Just google that and you'll see why its a super fat! Also, saturated fats don't modify when heated in cooking, unlike olive oil. Many people think olive oil is great for you, which is 100% true, but only when consumed raw. A tablespoon on a salad, or even thrown into an already cooked meal. However, cooking in olive oil causes the fat to mutate. You're actually better off cooking in BUTTER than olive oil! (Don't do that though, just eat that olive oil raw!)

So I believe keeping these super good for you fats high. This has caused my energy levels, especially while training, to be at their highest ever. I also notice my muscles looking fuller. Other than my fats, I keep my protein around 350g, and about 500g of carbs. These are all big ass numbers but I plan to compete soon. If you're training just to be in shape, I'd try the same ratios, just less to what fits your body.

Trial and error, my friend!

Have to get those avocados when they're soft, you can almost eat them through a straw! Before I went on hiatus, I was averaging about 16g of fat of any kind, daily. Researching has shown me that doing that is counterproductive, especially with the use of certain supplements.

My main issue is not living an hour north of the Mexico border any more! Did some research here, made an order and hopefully that goes smoothly. Don't know if it's like this with everyone but this first time definitely frayed my nerves a bit. Not trying to be overly vague, just unsure of etiquette and a bit unused to discussing or even reading about these things with others but it seems to be the only way not to shoot completely in the dark. If I do make any faux pas in any category, please don't hesitate to pm and correct me. I'm at the beginning of this learning curve!
