+ 8 Man this hurts what should I do?
I'm posting up this info in hopes to help my fellow Eroiders with injuries. I read a post a day about shoulder pain, knee pain ,back pain etc. So I figured maybe I could help in sort of a one stop shop of how to start treating an injury. We all on here put our bodies through a great deal of stress with the pounding they take from lifting. Add on top of that AAS which can cause rapid strength gains and you have a setup for injury. Most injuries will be from repetitive motion leading to inflammation and the majority can be fixed with the basic premise of RICE therapy. Rest, ice , compression and elevation. By rest I mean relative rest, reducing poundage, higher reps and some days off. Ice well that's the best anti inflammatory on earth. Diligent icing several times a day will help pain and reduce inflammation. Next, compression, things like ace wraps and pre-made braces help reduce swelling and protect from re-injury while healing. Lastly, elevation, if its a knee, leg, wrist or any extremity injury keeping it elevate to heart level will assist in reducing swelling. Lastly, blast some ibuprofen. Most adults can take up to 800 mg three times a day for short term use without any significant hits to the GI tract or kidneys. Thanks for reading an I hope this helps someone.

Great post brother! +1
LaTTTimer99Man, just my opinion - icing is great for immediately following injury - but short term. Here's why: icing reduces inflammation, which in turn reduces bloodflow. Our blood is literally our bodies clearinghouse for removing toxins, delivering nutrients, and extracting grody shit from our injured areas.
NSAIDS are actually detrimental to us as well, because they are anti-inflammatory.
You nailed it with compression - but there's a second reason. Compression (temporary) TIGHT - 90 seconds on, 2 minutes off, repeat with Rogue Fitness bands or go cheap and use a bicycle inner-tube, or even knee wraps - removing the compression device expedites blood-flow into the area once the compress is removed. It might sound counter-intuitive, but we actually want inflammation to a degree to get blood into the area to remove toxins, deliver nutrients, and flush back through the kidneys and repeat. If we constantly use NSAIDS and ice, we are effectively shutting off our bodies natural treatment: bloodflow. This is many thousands of years of evolution and it works if we let it.
Good post, I just wanted to add to it.
As juicers, we get into the mindset that a pill or an injection can fix anything, and that mindset may not serve us so well....
It is worth the time to invest research into the best Physical Therapy solutions to your ailment. The best way this can be done is here:

Also, MSM is a highly effective, CHEAP, legal joint sulfur that is used on race horses to keep them running. I've used MSM oral and topical / transdermal following several of my surgeries, and the stuff works - we'd all be best served by tackling our injuries head on with a multi-faceted treatment regime including self-treating PT, getting body-work done, using supplements, and going to the top of the foodchain for advice.

Shit very good info.
Old IronAn adult can usually take up to 1 gram of acetaminophen, aspirin or naproxen. Just be careful if your sodium sensitive with the naproxen. Also if you wrap ankles or wrists check circulation be pinching the tips of the fingernail. If they don't turn white release the bandage and allow blood to circulate then re wrap. This is going to sound odd but don't wrap anything until you are sure the swelling has hit it's max. Compressing a hematoma may cause it to create excess pressure and discomfort as it swells when restricted. Just my two cents not a doctor and didn't stay at a holiday inn express but was an Coast Guard Paramedic for 4 yrs, and other than morphine it's all we had to administer so I got pretty familiar with it.

tread-mNice post and I'll refresh a little Info of my personal use that helped in these areas as well.
Just in general GH of course has done wonders for me but something I also use that anyone can add to their supps is turmeric.
Turmeric helped me with a long term tendon issue and did so pretty quickly. Its healing power is huge and its daily supp use IMO is a good way not only to heal but to cause healthier bodies to prevent certain predispositions tha later lead to injury or problems from long term lifting and living in general.
nice! thats a really helpful lil tip tread, thanks for that input. definitly going to add that into my daily supps. do you usually just take the dose recommended on the bottle?
AnonHow would naproxen sodium compare to ibuprofen ?
