Yes it is a very excellent movement for those without shoulder problems. But it isn't an exercise you want to do first and/or with heavy weight. Slow and controlled movement with the reps in the 10-12 range are really all you need.
I do it now instead of incline bench press. I do 2 45s on each side smith machine. If you do it free weight go very light with a spotter. The pump is even better or superset it with incline dumbbell flys
We do the same. They are awesome presses. I forget where I read it but they hooked electrodes to a guy to see which press hit the most muscle. The guillotine won, it actually hits all three parts of the chest.
Lol yea I def feel it the next day
Maybe this?

Wardi77I used to do them, and yes if done correctly, it can really torch the upper chest, but be very careful with this exercise. Heavy weight is not needed, but perfect form is a must, as with all exercises. I preferred doing it on the smith, due to the fixed plane that the bar travels and less chance of shoulder injury. This exercise is much like the behind the neck military press in terms of pros/cons and risk of injury. I would suggest alternating them every other week in your chest routine just to prevent overuse of the front delts and lesser chance of getting injured.
Nice thanks, I just up to 1 plate and 2 35s on the side, but I have a spotter with that, and I find it far better than doing incline bench press, but def taking your advice to switching every week, thanks man
A friend of mine showed me these not too long ago and I love them. I use the smith machine though just to help avoid any shoulder problems
Lol yea it's kill your upper, I think better than incline chest press, but thanks for the help
