I remember watching a news show on diet soda drinkers. Some of them drank so much soda that it ate the enamel of their teeth.Usually the inside of the lower teeth. Most soda contains phosphoric acid.I remember reading a report years ago that stated soda to be one of the leading causes of osteoporosis. It had something to do with the body using it's calcium to neutralize the acid.
Also diet coke and most of the so called diet drinks also contain Alcohol sugars, they are not shown on the nutrient table of products. All you need to do is add up the calorie list to see if it actually all adds up. You know like protien and carbs contain 4 calories and fats 9. Add up the contents to see if it comes to the same total as stated on the product. If it doesnt then there is something they are not mentioning!
interesting, i need to look at the ingredient again. i nvr knew that alcohol sugar is in diet coke
They dont list it at all. Thats whybyou need to add up and the nutrients to make sure that its all getting counted. Alcohol sugar is not actually in any nutrient group (yet) and as such I think doesnt need to be listed
Wow , this is news to me, thank u so much for tellin me
Not a problem mate, any time
diet coke contains aspartame which is an excitotoxin, and like MSG is very damaging to the human body...so personally I recommend water
How does it damage the body exactly? I'm not trying to be a smartass, real question
ok this is the short version cause im typing on an ipad and its quite annoying...
so aspartame which is in diet soda and other produts is composed 40% of aspartic acid...msg is composed of glutamic acid 99%....both are excitotoxins bec too much of either in the brain kills cerain neurons....what it actually does is stimulate or excite the neural cells to death...some of the documented side affects ate headaches, fibromyalgia, joint pain, fatigue, diabetes, brain tumors, seizures tachycardia etc.
Monsanto, who if you know anything about the company, is notorious for their lack of care for anything other than their bottom line, bought the company GD Searle which discovered aspartame, and made it a subsidiary. initially back in 1975 or so aspartame was not approved by the FDA, it was only approved after monsanto purchased the company... as a side note the ex v.p. of Monsanto is now the head of the u.s. FDA.
so thats the short version..
Thats very interesting and informative. Thanks for the contribution.
yr welcome...and p.s.tks for the info on alcohol sugar....i just diet soda period...for all we know there could be formaldahyde in it too lol
Not a problem. Always here to learn and help out where I can
try to find a single PEER REVIEWED scientific paper supporting any of these claims: hint, there are none. aspartame has been a GRAS item with a longer history of safety than any other supplements, other than maybe creatine.
btw: glutamic acid aka glutamine is probably THE most abundant amino acid in any protein rich diet. You'll get far more of it from a chicken breast than a gallon of diet coke. But, facts are boring, fear mongering is sexy.
yr entitled to yr opinion and belief...anyone can google the info there is plethora of it available... this is what i've researched and my experience, which is why i dont use products containing either....im sure the is a legitimate reason why many products say "does not contain MSG".....
drink away sugar!
p.s. im sexy without fear mongering
i agree with your friend... i drink nothing but diet coke/diet dr. pepper (aside from water) while cutting, 0 cals, 0 carbs... not worried about the aspartame hype, and it has not stopped my fat loss as long as my diet is clean. would recommend.
regular full flavored coke 20oz
Calories: 240
Carbs: 65g
^^^ No thanks Jeff
Kind of concerned about this too, being in college still you know theres drinking so I try to stick to rum and diet coke/coke zero but since it has no calories where does it go? Is it just pissed out?
its just water flavored with artificial sweeteners and dye. treat it as such.
Ive been sticking to coke zero..its helped ALOT since im so addicted to coke.lol
No1I dont see a problem with it as it has 0 calories, I drink diet soda especially when cutting as it helps keep me sane and takes care of the sweet tooth
Well its better than drinking normal coke I guess, I drink diet coke here and there, especially on a friday night with some bourbon. I dont think any soda is good for you at all, but as long as he does it in moderation it should be ok. As for the diet, I read studies that indicate that people who drink diet drinks end up "splurging" on high fat and sugary foods. You always see the fat chick eating a a extra size Big Mac meal and ice cream and drinking a diet coke... I think there is some truth behind it

You are 100% correct about seeing the obese person with the extra large value meal drinking the gallon of diet coke. They can justify their 3000 cal meal by having "one diet soda".
In regards to the study you posted, there is no way to draw the conclusion based on their approach that diet soda is linked to waist size. Following up with these people 9.5 years later and remeasuring? They act like there aren't 5000 other variables that could contribute to their weight gain.
Yea I agree, this 'study' basically saying the Splenda or whatever causes fat gain which I tottally think is bogus, I think fat people drink diet drinks to feel bettet
you nailed it. diet coke is linked to weight gain because MANY who drink it do it to compensate for an otherwise shitty diet. this is why epidemiology type studies should be taken with a huge grain of salt, because they rarely distinguish between the 'average' slob and someone who takes care of himself...
