Injury during bench press , not sure if its a reopened tear or strain

ad

Was doing bench press, warmed up with 225 for 20, went to 275 for 10 and then 315.

On my 2nd rep I felt a sharp pain on my left pec and told my spotter to remove the weight immediately.

Today its quite sore and painful. Painful to the touch and when I rotate my arms.

IMO free weights seem to be bad news for a lot of people. Just swapped over to bb presses recently and they have fucked my rotator cuffs (again). Machines for me from now on. The chance of injury is far less

Probably just a strain. Is your movement limit with zero waitet? I like to warm up on chest day with light flyes and light delt presses.
Don't let it mind fuck you.

It could always be worse. I had buddy completely rip his pec from his shoulder on a bench of 450. It immediately curled his pec up under his skin like a softball. He had to be put back together, surgically, with mesh. Probably never going to get above 300 again.

Oh yeah and keep ice on it for 20-30 minute intervals. Stretch it pretty good through the am or any time your moving regularly. Good luck.

You probably just strained it. I'm some what of a big boy and don't warm up with 225 for 20 reps? If it was a tear you would know it !!

maybe get some bench shirts or some type of gear like that for when you go heavy?
