What's the point of lifting when not on cycle?
41 y/o TRT dude here.
I completed my first newb cycle (500mg/w test e) two and half months ago. I didn't pct, just went back on trt two weeks after last pin. It's been 2.5m after my last pin and I've pretty much lost all the size and most of the strength. When I started I was around 173lb, on cycle I got up to 189lb, today I'm at 177lb and back to very flat muscles and looking shrimpish.
It's demoralizing and i'm finding it tough to find the will to go to the gym because I think, what's the fucking point, the muscles won't grow, hell, they won't even maintain...
I'm still excited for my next cycle, but I need to get my head right and get out of this funk.
Is it weird that I want to do cardio and not lift anymore until I'm back on cycle?

Doing cardio before you hop on cycle isn't weird at all. getting lean I mean. Its calling "priming". People who tend to cut before hopping on cycle tend to have more exaggerated gains. Low bodyfat in general can make you look "bigger". But...There is absolutely no way you should've lost everything getting back on TRT dose. Something tells me you weren't really "in the gym" before you started cycling, Especially if you have to ask the question "whats the point?"
If you are on TRT in the mid range there is no way you would have lost those gains. I highly suspect diet.
In my experience, its better to eat crappy than skip a meal. You really need to look at your nutrition and crank up your calories. Force yourself to eat when your not hungry and pretty soon your body gets used to it and it will get easier. just like forcing yourself to hit the gym, makes it easier over time.
Positive thinking goes a long way in this lifestyle!
Injections are way better than gel so push your doc in that direction or find another doc like OmNom sugested.

Sounds like either your trt dosage isn't that high or your diet went down when you came off of your cycle.. I know when I'm down in the dumps my diet suffers tremendously. I see your on androgel.. My friends that were put on it hated it but loved test injections for trt.. you should def speak with your doctor.. What the hell is the point of going on trt if your right below mid range!! I'm sure you were even lower than that natty but damn I'd want my test higher than medium if im paying out of my own pocket for a better quality of life. If your doctor won't let you try test injections I say find another doctor..
Om, thanks a lot for your input. I appreciate it. being on cycle really opened up my appetite. As soon as I came off, i just wasn't hungry anymore. I've never been an over eater, but in a funk I do tend to eat even less. No comfort foods for me. And you're right, my trt dose is definitely too low.

You can definitely do it if you put your mind to it, not just put your mind to it, I mean REALLY PUT YOUR F#@*N MIND TO IT. take it from someone who use to eat 2 "meals" a day, hardly meals.. just some noodles and cereal and some chicken.. then started training, had no appetite but kept at it. As the years went by it got easier and easier, to the point where I get hungry if I don't eat for 2-3 hours. Now I'm pumping down 7-8 meals per day. Speaking of which, I have some Turkey to eat right now
You sound like me in pct lol.. But you're on trt so this shouldn't be an issue.. I bet you'll feel better and eat better when you get the proper dosed trt.. I do recall my friend telling me andro gel gave him quite a bit of aggressive mood swings.. I know my mental state has a lot to do with how hungry i get.. If I'm in the dumps I just can't eat worth a damn..
I do have to say, androgel gives me moodswings as well. I'll be talking to my dr soon to switch to injections.

At the very least take in your body weights worth of grams of protein every day. No matter what! Always been a good base for me, weather I'm cutting or bulking or just in your situation, a funk

Whats your Trt protocol like? Iv heard of some people getting prescribed some wacky trt maybe its not up to scratch? Should be 1 injection a week no less
I'm on androgel 10 which brought my levels to just below mid range in the spectrum. I have to convince my dr to switch me to test c injections and bring my levels closer to optimal.
You shouldnt use anabolics if you are not committed to training anyway and not use them until you are plateaued training naturally. Its the icing on the cake not the dough.
No offense bro, but it sounds from answer that you don't even know what trt is.
Im your age and as a matter of fact I do. 500mg/week is not tRT. We make very little native test at our age and gains are very hard come whether on tRT or not. Your post sounds like you expect steroids as a short cut from hard work and discipline with your diet.
You don't seem to be reading things correctly. No one said 500mg/w was a trt or a shortcut to discipline.
Been there bro. You can't let that get you down. I was on a beautiful cycle and went from 193 down to 173. You know what it was? My diet fucking sucked. I did not eat the way I was suppose to to help solidify my gains. So when I started the cycle I'm on now I was more pumped than before cause I learned from my last one. Learn and grow buddy. Just remember on this next cycle to eat bigger and better. Good luck.:-)
+1 to this guy. Also OP, Im pretty sure majority of people lose their first cycles gains before cycling again. Its a learning process

Thanks alot for your answer Aba, it's actually helpful. I was being fairly methodical with my diet. 3000cal/d on cycle, once off cycle around 2000/d. I think a problem for me is that I've been traveling for work quite a bit and rather than eat airpot/airplane food I just started skipping some meals.
Also with all the sitting around at airports and long flights, I was afraid if I over ate it would turn to fat. Which it kinda did... Still I kept dragging my ass to the gym even at hotel gyms even when I was exhausted.
The point of lifting overall should be to live an a healthy lifestyle and be as strong and fit as you possibly can. It's not a sprint. Most ppl will lose half their gains post cycle even with a good pct. I think you're looking at this the wrong way. It's definitely a lifestyle. You won't make all your gains in one cycle. You sound depressed actually. Have you been down in the dumps in other areas of your life?
nitti, I don't disagree that it's a lifestyle. In fact I've kept an active lifestyle my most of my life.
Here's the thing, I went through a period of about three years back in my late 30s where I dieted and worked out till i was blue in the face, but wasn't making any gains, then i was diagnosed with hypogonadism and put on trt, finally i made a bit of gains on trt, but most importantly I had an answer as to why I was getting nowhere natty. In hindsight, I spent three years working out natty not knowing I was hypogonadic fighting huge frustration not knowing why I just wasn't growing. That's what it feels like going from cycle back on trt.
Sounds to me like someone hormones is all over the place.

Lol bro, I get what you're saying. It's not so much about not being a pussy or maning up. When you're hypo, you can have all the motivation in the world and work your ass off. But like everything else if you don't see positive results is very discouraging.
If you lost that much and didnt pct just kept going with your trt, then thats a BIG hint that your diet is fucked up. In my opinion people that trt should not loose more then 2-3lbs since there is no "gap" of low test and you wouldnt go catabolic.
Your attitude makes me wonder why you use AAS. This is not a shortcut bro, if you dont know how to grow without AAS then you should not use AAS. just my opinion bro.
