Words of an ugly sort
I grew up with a mother and a step father who threw words around like “Nigger, and Jew ( jew used in a negative way). I was taught that these people were somehow less than me because of their skin , background or beliefs. The irony is that my real father was Jewish and so I myself was not only being taught to think less of others but in actuallity less of my self.
It took me a very long time to correct my flawed way of thinking, and I know it cost me some good friends and it just prevented me from becoming a better person
I know Im dealing with a good bunch here, but please guys be sure to give consideration to the words you use, and what they may be teaching the young ones around us. Racism is ignorant and ugly, and far to many people will say “Im not a racist, I just don’t like niggers ” Too many people are still willing to tell an old racist joke, or continue unfounded stereo types. Please though, it only prevents you from elevating your self and teaching the right thing to your kids.
Even if you overhear someone else speaking like this, we all need to step up and let that person know what they are saying is unacceptable.
Just last week I had another repair shop drop off a car their dumb asses couldn’t fix, and the person who gave that mechanic a ride here busts out with, “ did you hear what that nigger in the whitehouse did “ . I cut him off right there with a “ get the fuck out of my parking lot and until you change that ignorant attitude don’t even speak another word to me”. Its about the closest I’ve come to having a roid rage since I started this blast. I was shocked though, I’ve known this guy loosely for years, and then to have him come out with this just dropped him in my eyes to below knee level.
This may not be the right venue for this kind of complaint, and Im sure no one here thinks or speaks like this, but chances are you may know someone who does and they may be raising children. Don’t let it continue !

I like to call everyone the wrong racial slur, so if there's a white guy, black guy, and an Asian in a room together I'm gonna look at each one and use the completely wrong slur. Actually I'm kidding. I'm probably known to be more racist towards white people than anyone else.
For me, I don't take offense to the "ugly" words. I kind of think it gives the words too much power.
.
Very true! To the ignorant a response usually emboldens them to more self importance.
AnonGood post brother and as a handsome black guy Lol, I applaud your honesty. To be honest, when I first arrived here and in certain SI there is nigga and all other variations thrown around which I could care less about....however, I'm always of the mind that if you can type it you should back it up. Meaning if you can approach a black guy and call him "nigga" and he doesnt stomp your face in more powerf to you. If you can call a gay person a faggot....without getting your ass kicked good luck
The world is too PC, these days I'll give you that but that in no way condones people using words they normally wouldnt in a real life situation. Just my 2 cents, let the hate begin lol
I thought playful insults was the way to show friendship?

AnonThey are, but Im willing to bet you are smart enough to come up with an jab unique to the friend you are ribbing, rather than just call him something racist.
CleyonI have a slightly different take on this Novi (c'mon you didn't think I was going to agree with you on something did you?)
Ugly words used to hurt are worng and so is racism. I'm a honky, I know and accept it. My Dad's side of the family is from Prussia, my Mom's is from Spain. Trust me it doesn't get more honky than that! With that said, my two best friends are Mexiacan (born in Mexico City) and Indian (from India). I stopped being PC years ago. Us guys tend to rib each other about all sorts of things, it's how we bond. If Tread-m hadn't made so many comments about ED being cornholed in the eRoids Van we wouldn't of known how good of friends they were (no I never really thought they were THAT close). The truth is that close friends can say things to each other that nobody can say to them outside of friendship.
That's the way I take some of the "colorful" comments on here. If it was directed at me from a buddy, I'd laugh, but if some newb to the site said the same thing I'd be insulted. However I totally get what you're saying, and I agree that we need to watch the tone of what we say lest we offend other people who don't quite get the mojo of this site.
Nothing but love (no homo)
Anonno Cley I would never expect we agree , at least not initially ; )
I get the part about ribbing, but the trouble with that is you get far too comfortable with speaking like that and you never know who else is around. There are smarter ways to kid each other without having to resort to words that might hurt someone and or make you look bad.
The problem with your ED and Tread comparison is neither of them actually are gay.
I used to be in the same boat and would call stuff "gay" all the time, but then one night out to dinner with two gay friends, without even thinking I said " thats so fucking gay". Now they didnt say a word, but I felt it. I felt my image in my friends eyes get lower.
Look I get the whole thing about being so damn PC about everything sucks, and Im not that way you know that, but when it comes to these types of words ,well yes, I am.
CleyonAbsolutely, unintentional hurt to others is the BIG downside. Let me be clear, I don't mind offending people when I want to, but offending them unintentionally or offending people who don't deserve it I try not to do.
The problem in my opinion is that everyone has become so touchy, that you never know what is going to set people off, it's like they want to be offended. I remember the way I got trated by my girlfriend's family in HS, she was black and her family didn't like her dating a white boy. I understand how it feels to be treated like that, but I don't get offended when I hear someone use the words :honky" or "cracker". If they are really that racist, than it's sad that they have limited themselves so thuroughly.
These words only have power if we let them have power. That being said, I agree that we should all strive day by day to become better than we currrently are. Isn't that was this site is about? No matter what our goals (remember we aren't all body builders), we all are trying to improve. So why limit that to physical improvement. Kudos for showing what a soft hearted person you are (that's a legitimate compliment) in ths den of stinking testosterone infused thugs. i'll try to be better.
BTW, have you ever posted something and then seen a post in the same thread by one of our illustrious eRoids sisters and wished you hadn't typed what you did? Yeah, I have, and I'm pretty sure Grrrl hates me because of that, but it may just be that I hate Ron Paul.
AnonYes I know what you mean about the off color thing with women. And believe me I have stopped some conversations dead in their tracks if I refference sex drugs and rock and roll amongst the wrong people.
I doubt people could call me racist or homophobic, but they might have an argument against me for being sexist. Still though I dont think commenting on a woman fine ass or set of tits is nearly as offensive as being over heard saying , " Did ya hear the one about the nigger and the Jew ".
And you are right, I am not just interested in growing muscles, I want to grow inwardly and there are a good number of members here who do provoke thought and inward growth. Its a great place to be sharing ideas.
I OWN THE EROIDS VAN ... AND HAVE TO CLEAN THE MESS UP... YOU SURE BOUT THAT COMMENT???
Lmao!
AnonReminds me of Beavis and Butthead getting caught "whackin" in the neighbors camper.
"Damn kids whackin in ma van again, like a couple of spider monkeys"
mr127superdeedude my mom is jewish and my father is a self proclaimed nazi (they are now divorced) and i totally feel you my father really did a number on me with all of his inferior jewish race crap...anyways i feel where youre coming from and your right!
CleyonI love all the old Nazi propoganda, "The sneaky Jews are taking over all our industries!" and then the next one was, "The Jews are an infirior race!"
So all your industries are being taken over by an "infirior" race? Doesn't say much for you now does it!
mr127superdeelol never thought of that
CleyonI can't take credit for it, it was pointed out by William Shirer in his book "Rise and Fall of the Third Riech". I'm a history nut, especially WWII, and Revolutionary War era.
Now I don't want to point this out Nov, but you seem to be somewhat prejudice against "dumb assess who can't fix cars" :P. I agree completely with the topic, amazing that when in combat all your companion warriors bleed one color. And I personally have received and given blood to and from all peoples.
Anonhahaha yeah Im hard on my brother mechanics, and its kind of ironic that Im so intollerant of intollerance ;)
Good men and assholes alike come in all colors and faith. I regret being ignorant to that for years in my youth. I see now how it held me back in some ways and I wont let that happen to my boys.
CleyonI'm very intolerant of stupid people. The matter of fact when my wife took the kids to Disney World she picked me up a t-shirt that said "I'm Grumpy because you're Dopey!"
AnonHaha I wonder if I actually have to go to Disney to get my self one of those. Love it !
CleyonYou have to take your kids there eventually! Lol
AnonLast year some kids down the street went to Disney and were talking about it at the bus stop, so I asked the boys " Where would you rather go on vacation, Disney or Grand Cayman ?" without hesitation both boys said Grand Cayman. ;) I just may be able to dodge the disney bullet .
CleyonI've been to both, and they are completely different experiences! Once they are teenagers though dive vacations win.
Words of wisdom
AnonThank you, glad you didnt mind me getting all preachy
